GTA VI ""Leaks"" Analysis Thread

So, there are people that believe that *magically* 3 screenshots, a shaky video of the map and a supposed ad, all leaked in the same week, day and month? From Rockstar? Really? The guy with alt accounts probably is the fake leaker, and he is the one doing damage control. Its possible that Rockstar announces GTA VI tomorrow, showing the f*cking map, and people will believe more on the fake leaks than on Rockstar herself. BRUH

fwiw the leaker of the sunset screenshots confirmed that they're from the far cry 5 map editor so i imagine they'll drop that from their speculation

 

for the most part i'd harbour the reddit is mostly kids/young teens though, so going there and responding/joining arguments about the validity of the leaks is worthless, i'd genuinely just leave them be because you're just going to frustrate both them and yourself - and it also just makes this place look bad for anyone coming from reddit by coming back and posting it all here.

The plane screenshot could be from the Crew 2, although I can't remember seeing this there. I would look myself, but one of my cats kicked my external hdd from the counter and it is broken, so I gotta reinstall the game .

 

I heard people bringing up Cities Skylines. This could be possible, although it doesn't seem like the plane was photoshopped in. However, a skilled photoshopper could do this. 

 

If it is a real screenshot, it is clearly from an early build, Lod is terrible. Atleast not next gen in the slightest.

only difference there is the fake leaks (and the believers comments) mostly just get lost and buried over time, but people always look back on the leaks that turned out to be true and laugh at the comments of people calling it fake

Make as many fakes as you can until everything converges on some pseudo-truth, and then people will go like.

the key difference between people like you and people who choose to keep an open mind is that one category doesnt actively try convincing the other its 100% their way. because nobody, believer or leaker, can know for sure if its 100% fake or real, and thats why we discuss them (also because theres nothing better to fxking do). yet every single time the Elite Debunking Squad jumps in to remind everyone it definitely can not be real and if you believe it youre pretty much stupid, gullible and it will definitely lead to you being the laughing stock of... the forumers (?) lol. and its ironic because as a person who wants to believe and read good debunks at the same time i keep hitting this wall of "here's the reasons why its undoubtedly 100% fake and if you think otherwise youre silly and wtf is wrong with you kid ive been in these leak wars since the 2000s and ive seen some sh*t stop being gullible K??? Can we please stop posting images from Reddit trolls (DM's, GTAF images, etc.) and such? It's bringing nothing to the discussion as Kirsty mentioned earlier, and both camps really are at the same level atm. No one knows anything - we want to discuss these images, not try and wage war with some Reddit trolls, because in the end they're mocking some members here, some members here are mocking them, vicious cycle. Let them have their fun, we'll have ours (trying to) being more civilised without needing to resort to the same strategy and having proper discussions instead.

Skills... the only thing I have seen that is remotely skilled was the map video from a few days ago, the rest of this doesn't require much skill at all, it only requires someone having too much free time.

 

Thing is, what you just said applies to breaking NDA, you really think someone would risk their NDA and potentially get a lawsuit just to share stuff on some "obscure forums"

I see the forums hold a much more level headed approach to debating leaks then reddit (at least atm). I don't have a reddit account myself, just look every so often to see what's new, though that's become pretty difficult now with a seemingly runaway train of different "leaks" coming out. 

There are a couple of images that leaked though that interested me. 

First one being the bottom left one. Seen a few people say its from cities skylines, and id quite confidently say it is, though with a sun photoshopped onto the picture. From what i remember from playing CS, in the morning there's usually a fog/mist which settles in, plus lighting is pretty similar if not the same. I wouldn't even say the game was that heavily modded to create that shot. There are also quite a few Miami based assets for buildings, plus a lot of stock maps for the Miami area, some i would say pretty similar to some of the "leaked" maps. 

The other is the top right image. I'm relatively confident that images is from X-Plane 11. I recently have been getting into xplane myself, and because I live in the south of the UK, I decided to purchase ORBX's TrueEarth Great Britain South scenery package. Personally Id say the colours present in that image (mainly around vegetation) are quite similar to what's present in my scenery addon. So after a quick search I found that ORBX also offer a TrueEarth Package of Florida. The reason I think its X-plane is because of how flat the buildings in the image look, which is a result of the terrain being made out of satellite imagery with generated building slapped on top in some places. The clouds look photoshopped on tbh though. It could also be that the image is just a really low quality image of real life.

Of course, non of this proves they are fake, this is just what i thought of when first seeing the images and relating them to games I've played before. 

One last thing, I just want to point out how different each screenshot is graphically. One is very oversaturated and washed out, but with what seems to be a painted on skybox with real life clouds. One is quite toned down in colouring, almost grey scaled and much closer to real life with seemingly volumetric clouds. And one is very dark even though the sun is quite high up, and has no clouds at all. What I'm saying is, there is no consistency in the images.

I spoke with the person who created that image. They made it in Far Cry 5's map editor.

Okay, so another supposed leak, right before that blurry "legit" one. 

 

Idk if anyone saw it, supposedly also from "Jared" the person who drew the Quincy World map.

 

 

Now I don't buy that these were made by the same individual, so I made a comment and I'll embed my analysis here.

 

Judging the two images at face value, the Quincy Map is clearly higher quality, taken with a better camera. The resolution it was uploaded at is 1920x1280, a 1.5:1 aspect ratio and fairly common for photos taken with DSLR cameras.

The second image is actually a higher resolution, 4160x3120, and the aspect ratio is 4:3. COULD also be a DSLR, but the quality is clearly drastically lower. That could be due to the dark room, but unlikely.

Whoever uploaded the image of the icons named the image "jaredscreen42220airwaveimagery.jpg" the implication being it was taken by the same person as the Quincy Map, and also taken on the same day? The Quincy Map file is named "jaredscreen42220NEW.jpg" So, supposedly both of these images were taken of his roommates computer on the same day?

If these were done by the same individual, I'd imagine they would be taken with the same camera. Aside from the aspect ratio and quality, we can see heavy fisheye distortion on the quincy image from the DSLR cameras lens : https://i.imgur.com/4ulEfx8.png

Also, it's fairly clear the two images were taken on a different monitor. The Quincy image was clearly taken on a computer monitor, likely a basic ASUS monitor as you can see I found here the power button is in a different spot. The radio icon image was clearly taken on a laptop.

Now, considering these were both taken on 4/22/20, is it likely that both his roommate switched from his desktop to a laptop, AND the OP switched from taking a photo with his fisheye DSLR to a poor quality phone camera?

It COULD be the case. What's more likely is that the two posts were made by different people, and the second individual who made these radio icons was likely piggybacking off of the previous Quincy World leak.

If you think the theme park map was created by anything other than a creative and experienced illustrator, it says more about your knowledge on the subject than mine.

Leak is obviously not real. People underestimate how much free time most individuals have to make such a convincing map and concepts like the ones we usually see on 4Chan.

 

It’s kind of funny seeing folks over at r/GTA6 acting like these leaks are legit and downvoting and getting angry at anyone who think otherwise like a bunch of children. I almost wanted to bust out laughing in public a few times while reading the posts over there and I’m sure the dude who made up that Fred’s Fun World leak is laughing his ass off right now.

The radio station logos are obviously fake, they're just very simple graphics mostly using pre-made fonts and gradients. It really doesn't match the more credible style that you can find with the radios of GTA IV and V where they all have very diverse designs in all sorts of shapes and styles, you can compare them down below.

Hmm I have just looked at it actually, and it's pretty good yes, not as impressive as you are describing it but it's good.
