besides gtaforums i am also an active user on a pretty big green day fan community forum

in 2019 (1 year before the latest LP release of the band) the entire community got trolled by another rock band from canada, the effort these canadians put into their "troll-leaks" was insane, mostly everyone thought thats the real deal but in the end the "leaked" new music and information about a new green day LP turned out to be fake

i experienced a lot of "fake leaks" in my life, but this fake green day leak from the canadian band showed me that people on this earth have the time and effort to create insanly "real-looking" leaks

 

as for the gta 6 map, i am still not sure if its real or not and maybe we wont know until R* shows us some pictures or trailers etc

Yup, this applies to most big fandoms, including R*. There's been at least one relatively elaborate leak for every single game thus far, it's nothing new. It's more frequent nowadays because of how much easier it is to spread on social media. And yes, yes, people will go to the extent. I've seen many a fake leak in 15 years here lol.

I feel like R* would come up with something a little better than "Fred's Fun World", nothing clever or humorous about it, and it doesn't really parody anything from real life.

I ain't sure tbh. The art style look R*-ish enough, the satire goes along well with R*'s, Fred Quincy/Quincy world is, let's say, a hidden detail within the Grand Theft Auto universe, which reminds me of the names on the RDR2's map leak which matched with names that were referenced/mentioned in RDR, like Grizzlies. Currently, I'm leaning toward believing it's real.

You know what? You're probably right. This all just looks and feels and has been 'proven' to be so absolutely fake. So it's absolutely going to turn out to be real just because f*ck us all, right?

Look at me, I'm famous L.  Tbh these "leaks" have at the very least kept me mildly entertained, but at some point its not funny anymore and I have to worry for those people who blindly believe in the leaks because a few things "line up".  The ONLY way these "leaks" would have any legitimacy is if Rockstar revealed GTA 6 via trailer or screenshots and the leaks lined up without prior knowledge.  However, the current leaks are all very bad and have some hard to ignore inconsistencies.

 

Speaking of terrible fakes, anyone see the new "leak" with the islands that, you know, LiNe uP with the old stuff?  This is comical still, but I'll start to worry more when the blind people start to downvote the truth and upvote what they wish is true.

They're the ones behind both this most recent "sunset image" : 

 

 

If you check their accounts they both post on the same obscure subreddit, and /u/Robultz account says that it's an alt of somebody elses account.

 

Also https://www.reddit.com/user/FunnyMan2836 was created today explicitly to brigade about all these leaks.

We're just here to speculate, whether real or fake, people are free to analyse/believe/debunk or whatever. Both camps add the same value to discussion because nothing will be proven until there is official information. For instance the RDR2 map leak was not confirmed right up until we got an official screenshot with Cornwall on the wagon.

I love this, I missed this. Why care if it is fake or not? We finally have stuff to talk about again for the first time in well over 3 years. 

 

In my opinion we should just treat the map as 'possibly real' and try to see if we can find the real life counterparts of cities featured in the game. Yes perhaps it is in vain if they turn out to be fake, but atleast we have fun, this is the GTA 6 fake? maps analyse thread afterall!

I agree! I'm getting frustrated by all the brigading and the drama, they're taking away from the fact that we actually have something to discuss here with these images. I want to see more extensive debunkings and analysis! Whether it proves them fake OR real, ultimately it's fun and more info than we've had to discuss for quite a while.

yeah this has literally been my thoughts whilst watching this all unfold - i dont care if its fake or real, it literally has no impact on my life, but it gets the community talking about things again. imo both sides that are brigading to convince everyone they're either fake or real are as sad as eachother, i don't think there's any harm in letting your imagination run a little wild when it comes to leaks (and even then if its fake, why does it matter? the community surrounding the leaks have been thriving because of all of this and at the end of the day, you're not going to be disappointed by the game just because the texture for Fred's Fun World was a fake or the map was different to what you expected)

I'm actually in favor of this idea. It was fun as a maps thread, but it's obvious we're getting tons of "leaks" that are not maps and are equally as important to discuss, regardless of chances of legitimacy. I expect we'll end up with more as time goes on.
