That makes the both of us, holyhell what a place. Went to see the comments in one of the threads and i was telling myself no don't do it don't just close the tab  saw one poor dude questioning that fake clownish map being downvoted to hell while the rest of the jokers who are worshiping that fake map getting upvotes, almost had a seizure, r/gta6 is cancer.

I regret making the Reddit post about RedDagger's discovery. Honestly, I thought some of them would understand it's fake but no, they're unironically making the very same excuse that @Len Lfc said they would.

 

Moderating it is even worse, you can't lock an obvious fake leak post without getting sh*tted on by people who believe the fakes. Unfortunately we can't ban morons because that's not rule breaking, maybe I should sneak that into the rules idk 

 

we're currently banning people who are being morons yet insulting others for believing the leak, LOTS of them, hopefully it gets slightly better, but the more we ban the more new users like the keep joining.

 Fake stuff gets upvoted, then stuff criticizing the fakes gets downvoted.  This fake leaker is really getting his times worth in the attention.  Now I'm not saying its one fake leaker, but it could be one guy organizing everything or other fake leakers realize now is the time to piggyback.  Either way, I think its all bs and just want something official so we can put an end to all of this, hopefully.

They're just as delusional as the faker himself, no matter what you throw at them showing them it's fake they simply don't want to hear about it. I made the mistake of posting about the spray job thing, didn't waste 5 minutes deleted the whole post, f that place seriously what a bunch of kids.

This is funny that you bring this up.

 

I don't think the stock image man necessarily breaks this as fake. R* use stock assets all the time and have so for years. A lot of their textures are in public domain and the guys at the RoSA project have found many of these.

 

Fun fact: many San Andreas textures are directly from photo references of real LA businesses in the early 2000s. Theres a thread in the GTA San Andreas section and I found some of these old businesses that appeared in GTA SA.

 

So, yes, gaming devs use a lot of stock assets.

I doubted the shaky screen map from the moment I saw it, but this Fred's World image has me second guessing myself.  It is an incredibly well made map for a fake theme park, whether or not it came from Rockstar or some troll who should be working at Rockstar.

 

I've worked in a creative field for many years, including as an illustrator, so while I won't put it past some loser with far too much time to create a really excellent fake that would be at home with any other legitimate Rockstar game asset (just like the 1985 map, which is up there with this as the other most well-made "leak" so far), this just rings far too true for me to dismiss it.  The stock photo proves nothing -- illustrators use stock photos as references all the time, no need to waste time creating a body from scratch when you have an endless supply of images to source from so you can spend your time on the most important elements (which is the face in this case, and it certainly has a Rockstar feel -- and it is absolutely not John Cleese).  I still find many things about the new map leak to be strange, but this theme park image has definitely made me less confident of that.

If you remember the big Executives and Other Criminals update leak, several people thought it was fake because the in-game web page where you buy the yacht used an IRL picture. Turns out it was simply a placeholder.

Rockstar aren't a stranger to stock images. Hell, they even used a real life Carl's Jr Burger for their Burger Shot advertisements in GTA: SA.

All the names have Rockstar-like humour to them as well...

I don’t think this is one person at this point. I think it’s multiple people piggybacking off of the map “leak” for the meme.

 

Making an image like that isn’t hard. I’ve made several mock brand advertisements for my own personal mods. 

 

You know that the people that work for Rockstar that do the texture work in this context are... graphic designers, right? You know what a very common profession is? Man, I don’t know, probably graphic design.

the geography in both is the same. And it’s been confirmed T2 scoped out Disney for inspiration on their own “project wieners” . A theme park of all things is an obscure thing to fake. It’s not impossible but I just don’t think that’s the case here

Just to be pedantic, "Restricted" has not existed within the UK classification system since 2014. It was replaced in practical terms with "Official" and "Official-Sensitive" and none are particularly stringent levels of classification.

 

The actual ramifications of disclosure of information bearing "restricted" markings are negligible, it basically means "don't post this on Twitter or leave it on a train".

I think far too many people underestimate what it takes to create things like this.  People with these skills almost never do it for free, especially not to troll a bunch of thirsty gamers on some obscure forums.

Just like a lot of people underestimate the time/effort required for a convincing fake, don't underestimate how pathetic some people can be.  We can't call it fake or real for both of those reasons.

Except these leaks actually looked clear and they looked like an actual video game. These leaks look like a bunch of poorly made photoshops
