The more leaks out, the more I think the map is the real deal.

 

Creating a fake map top down is wildly different than creating an amusement park bird eye view. 

 

Also to note: Quincy world is only part of Fred's Fun World. 

 

Actually, the more I see this, the higher I count the chance that we'll see New Bordeaux later on in a map expansion. It features a similar (half the size in Mafia 3) amusement park. Why? Because it seems R* is creating a massive world featuring everything from amusement parks to diving, from shops (interiors?) in the cities to small towns. A true crime (pun intended) world in a sandbox setting. 

If they tick off all necessary boxes, they can create a 'format' for map additions, expansions for story and online. That said, I think the Singleplayer will be... not the focus, if we even get any. Everything about the map and obvious areas for expansions (bridges, airports, marinas) screams GTA Online to me.

That would be cool, and it wouldn't necessarily be lore-unfriendly; I could see the GTA World having Lost Heaven, Empire Bay, and New Bordeaux all existing in place of Chicago, Boston, and New Orleans.

Problem is they all exist in real states in the Mafia universe. When they released the trilogy last year they said that Lost Heaven was in Illinois, Empire Bay in New York, and New Bordeaux in Louisiana.

Hey guys, just saw this map leak.

I thought it was fake, at first, but then I realized this: The golf course seen in Trailer 1 is on the map and it lines up! So it must be the REAL GTA V map!

All things considered with it being a completely made up map... it's actually fairly resemblant of the actual map.

 

Single island, one city with some small towns, major lake in the middle. Santa Catalina island eventually kind of materialized with Cayo Perico lmao.

As unlikely as it is, what if the map is a true leak, but to try and hide that fact, whoever decided to leak tried to make it faker with all the UI stuff?

First off, we don't know if it's real. Second off, that really means jacksh*t about when the game is taking place. It could just be an old picture in game, if it's real.

This almost seems like by the same author who made the 1986 or whatever map, who is a GTAForums (and now also Reddit) previously banned member who seems to have some graphics design experience and trust me, would 100% be dedicated to doing stuff like this. Because he's been registering accounts for years, on both here and Reddit, and also PMing people with messages from mods telling him why he's not welcome for what seems like a year or two plus now, and has history with fabricating elaborate fakes - that person was the first ever person to push that fake map (again, the previous one) on both here and Reddit, which is a big indicator it was probably him creating it.

 

A few points:

1. We have suddenly gone from Quincy's to Fred's World? Did the person who create that art see my comment here about that? If that was "legit", it'd probably be called Quincy's just like in the "leaked" map?

2. It's not the first piece of art we have that "lines up" with the "leaked" map. Even the author of the plane screenshots tried to make it line up.

3. This does not look like Rockstar artwork. Almost looks more Bethesda tbh.

3.1. "Weiners"?

3.2. The line that Quincy says is far too "on the nose". R* does dirty humour but prefers to be more subtle, not just go directly "we go deep inside you hueheuehue".

4. Employees aren't as interested in breaking NDA's as everyone thinks. I'm pretty sure even WFH you can't just take a screenshot of some art, raw, straight from the Windows Photo Viewer like that. Especially because employees probably don't even have access to the art at all times and don't store it on their computers, and once again, not interested in breaking NDA's like everyone thinks.

4.1. The "mate" excuse once again. Game development related to theme parks? What?

5. Len makes a good point. We've had one of those before where people "matched" the golf course from the trailer to a fake map and... it was fake lmao.

 

DO NOT underestimate how dedicated some trolls can be, especially in 2021 where it's easier to spread things and anyone with some kind of graphics design skill could do something like this. I cannot wait for GTA VI to be announced at some point so we can just laugh at this, but I think we're giving some troll too much attention again, which is why they feel so compelled to make minimally good looking art. This is coming from someone who has dealt with VERY dedicated trolls before, it wasn't for map fakes necessarily, but if people can fabricate stuff and register accounts and what not for years and years on end - why not a fake map?

Not per se, Vice City is set in Florida, not a made up state. So New Bordeaux could easily be set in the same universe. Plus I wouldn't mind to see a lot more brands in the game. Would make the ingame world just that extra bit of realistic.

Empire Bay pretty much takes New York's place which is Liberty City.

I don't think that really matters. Their maps are highly condensed. And who's to say GTA VI will only be south Florida?

Disney would still feel weird and out of place for me without Orlando imo.

I don't agree. GTA V's map is evidence to this. It is based on southern California, but it's not 100% geographically accurate. The Alamo Sea is north of Los Santos, where in reality the Salton Sea is south east of LA.

GTA VI's Florida will be inspired by real Florida, but I don't expect it to be completely accurate or even accurately spread or located.
