Do you experience randomly disappearing ammo in GTA Online?

So I'm experiencing this bug every time I boot up GTA Online on PC - sniper rifle and assault rifle ammo basically gets "removed randomly" so to speak - I could dump over $100,000 for ammunition but there'd be no point in me doing it, considering this bug occurs seemingly randomly. 

 

I'm wondering if I'm the only one though. I never experienced this issue back when "everyone else" was facing it, but now I am... quite peculiar. Sorry I didn't put more effort into the poll - I'm only allowed to ask 3 questions on GTA Forums (actually I should've used a Google form, eck) so hopefully we can at least get some information about whether it's happening to you as well, and whether you can recall how long it's been going on for.

It happens to me almost systematically every time I change Lobby, my sniper ammoare reset from whatever they were to 30.

(I don't have assault rifle so my answer to question #1 is not relevant but i have to tick one)

I think this bug has been there since Doomsday but i'm not sure. I think it has something to do with Gun lockers (My id's who don't have gun locker don't have that issue)

Yes, but for me it's mostly shotgun and minigun.

For me it's shotgun and molotov cocktails. But only 5 cocktails and a fraction of shotgun ammo (like 90-ish).

Cant vote because for me the second answer is no. For that matter i feel like the first question should have that option too.

 

Im on PC, it happens occasionally, it used to happen for me around doomsday heist but eventually that was fixed, but looks like casino heist re-introduced it, to a lesser extend (doomsday version of this bug you would lose a specific type of ammo, but all the f-ing time, for casino heist version of the bug it only occasionally forgets about the ammo that you last bought) for me its currently 'forgetting' about throwables & rifle ammo, around the time of doomsday it kept forgetting about sniper ammo, and somewhere between them there was a bug with disappearing pistol ammo (in relation to that bloody revolver unlock) but i dont think i ever got that.

I have lost, more than once, full ammo for

 

RPG (lots)

Fireworks launcher (grrrrr)

All throwables. Yep, 30 and 30 and so on.

MKII Pistol (lots)

MKII heavy sniper

 

Funnily enough all the types in the poll ^ are fine. I think this is some sort of overflow or whatnot when you play a mission that has locked gun types (casino heist in my case) and also have a lot of sh*t but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

 

Last time I bought full ammo it cost $136k....

 

However.... I never have to buy ammo for most of my MKII weapons as it refills itself. So rockstar giveth and rockstar taketh away.

 

I am pissed about the fireworks though.

Oh dear, yes. Always sniper, though I have had it happen to my shotguns. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. I just expect it to happen at least once, every few months now, for years. Just when I forget it's a thing, Refill Ammo 36.758, on a mission screen.

Too often to count. It's been happening for a long time too.

 

I always lose ammo for RPG's and throwable explosives, snipers and shotguns mostly. I always seem to notice it happen when I'm kicked from or quit jobs, especially all types of heists (that have trolls in, I don't like to quit of course, lol).

 

It's gotten to the point where for at least a year now, I just don't go on call for anything. I do miss that, but it's just too frequent and luckily I have buddies I can join/host for.

 

Cheers for the thread @Gaffa though I've pretty much given up on a real fix unfortunately.

A lot of my ammo is glitched so that it automatically refills whenever I go to single player and back.

 

Assault rifle standard ammo

Assault rifle armor-piercing ammo

Machine gun standard ammo

Pistol standard ammo

Pistol FMJ ammo

Shotgun standard ammo

Shotgun explosive ammo

Grenade launcher ammo

 

It's actually quite useful.

 

But I occasionally lose all sniper ammo, standard or otherwise.

Happens to me everytime I start a Casino heist and select a gunner that I previously did not used on the last time I robbed the Casino.

 

I rotate between Karl Arbolaji for Big Con/Silent and Sneaky and Charlie Reed for Agressive.

 

Even if I don't use weapon workshop inside my Arcade to refill my special ammo, I still lose them.

LOL the last time I lost ammo I found out mid Convoy heist setup.

From the starting checkpoint I always go up the hill to snipe the first chopper while team mates go to the convoy.

Quick select heavy explosive sniper, I try to fire it does not shoot so I select marksman rifle and I have the same problem.

Oh $%!^ I think realizing that I have absolutely no ammo for any of my weapons (not that I was in range to use anything else anyway). So light up the chat window "Sorry guys the choppers still coming"

I'm on PC and it has happened twice, and I lost every bit of ammo normal and mk 2.

Last time was about 6 months ago. Being that I was on PC I always assumed it was scumbags with mod menu's.

Guess it is not now.

 

Still it was better than the time Rstar lost 160+ of my cars, this stopped me playing as much as I did tbh. Yeah they returned all the cars I think! but I do not know the exact location of any of them even my favorites, phone Jonny on the spot look though list after list, 3 minutes later I might find the vehicle I want.

I had them quite nicely organized by Country and brand and can not be bothered to rearrange them, God knows how long that would take.

 

Anyway sorry to rant and to change the topic.

I feel ya, had the same thing happen (all vehicles vanished, air/bikes too) a few months ago and first i had to fight an uphill battle before they even replaced the vehicles, then when they returned it was all randomized af and i lost some unlocked and some rare vehicles (paragon R, sanctus, og hearse, etc) for each of wich i again had to fight the uphill battle with support to get them to admit that yes, i did have those cars in the past, after that it took me several weeks of hating my mechanic before i finally bit the bullet and spent an entire f-ing weekend to re-sort stuff, only to then realize there was still even more stuff missing.. My suggestion is to just accept that you will have to spend the time to re-sort, because randomized vehicle collection is super annoying, and until you properly sort stuff you simply wont realize how some stuff is nowhere to be found

OT: Thankfully havent had the stupid ammo vanishing stuff since summer update, but several of my friends do still get this, so its not fixed / its even more random now? Something related i've noticed recently after creating a new character, for that one the actual weapon unlocks are completely f-ed?! see below screenshot taken when around rank 60, game tells me i unlocked advanced rifle but actually i didn't / i'm too low level for that? This exactly the sort of annoying sh*t they should fix for the re-re-release, how hard can it be to keep track of what i've unlocked and what kinds of ammo counts people have? smh.

Fun fact, some cheater dweeb gave me the laser weapons at some point, and sure enough they did remove those within 48hours, priorities man.

Here is trick @StangOne50 suggested to me a couple of weeks ago that worked with me:

1) Revert all mk2 weapons

2) Buy all ammos

3) Upgrade guns to mk2 again

Today i lost ammo for the first time ever, i lost all RPG and EMP launcher ammo. I think that happened because i bought ammo in the MOC instead of the Agency like i usually do. The MOC was parked in my Bunker while i bought ammo, not sure if that matters or not. But it didn't felt very "random" to me. I only bought ammo for my explosive shotgun, and for regular pistols i think. I didn't even touch the RPG or EMP launcher.

I don't think we're losing ammunition. It's just our characters living their own lives when we're offline, and then going full rampage.

Yes I used to always lose my Grenade Launcher ammo. Then I figured out it was a bug related to the gun locker.

 

When I would hide my Compact Grenade Launcher from my weapon wheel it would save whatever Grenade Launcher ammo amount I had at that moment and no matter how many times I refilled, when I quit or switched sessions it would revert back to that amount. Rockstar Support were no help, so I used the bug to my advantage once I figured it out. By unhiding the Compact Grenade Launcher, maxing out my ammo then disabling it again. Every time I restart or switch sessions it goes back to that max amount. I very rarely have to buy ammo now.

 

Grenade Launcher is not the only weapon that's affected by this bug, I know my Pump Shotgun MK II is also affected and recently it started happening with my RPG as well and doing this trick helped. There might be more but I haven't noticed.

 

This trick will not work in missions or heists though. The ammo you use when in those will not come back and will get stuck at that amount again until you redo the process.

I feel bad for you,but I am glad I finally found someone else this is happening to. I think I know why you and me keep losing weapons. Just like when "Recording" pops up and you don't even know the pc/xbox controller combo to make that pop up,occasionally "Drop Weapons/Drop Ammo" pops up. Click. Gun dropped. UGGG!

You probably did not notice it because you were in a gun battle and were clicking on buttons as fast as you could. Me too Bro.

The first time I lost weapons (3 of my most expensive weapons),I wasted a week going back to every mission I did and scouring the map for them,as per forum advice. No luck. I was about to contact RS and then my guns magically reappeared. As I was a low level and poor,I was ecstatic-I could get back to Grinding. 

 It happened again! 

This time I was still poor (richer than before,but still poor) and my disappeared Up-N-Atomizer cost me a nightclub sale! UGG! That hurt! A week after that my other guns appeared (always the most expensive guns for some reason). I rebought the Up-N-Atomizer.

Long story short-it happened again. 

And again.

And again. But...This time I had proof. I screenshotted my Social Club Weapons to show that my Unholy Hellbringer was owned and used by me. It even shows how many bullets I shot. Ha! Take that RS! 

The last time it happened the guns did not reappear. I'm a higher leler now with a fat bank account,but it just irked me. So I contacted RS and let them know it has been months since my Unholy Hellbringer has disappeared. And I had proof. Or so I thought.

I contacted RS and they were prompt,professional and kind. But not very helpful...check your gun locker to make sure you are not hiding it (Custom Loadout),etc...basic stuff.

What concerned me was the RS Support person hinted that I may picked up the Unholy Hellbringer and hence the proof I submitted would invalidated. I was a lying thief trying to scan RS-was the low level implication if I'd pursued this further,.

I'm an expert at this. Because RS forced me to be an expert (when I was a low level and cared about 1/2 Million$$).

You cannot drop the Unholy Hellbringer and allow someone else to use it. Hence I could not have "bullets shot,headshots,kills,etc" stats on my Social Account.

Now don't get me wrong here,but it seems like the next email I would have with RS Support would get confrontational.

Screw it.

I rebought the Unholy Hellbringer. Just add it to the weapons I had to rebuy. most expensive ones too. Funny how that works out.

Anywho,it IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOU AGAIN!

I thought about it. 

In my Agency (there are probably other places) I can go to the gun guy. When I goto the gun guy and want to buy ammo,the menu shows a gun icon if you own it or a price if you don't.

Boom!

Yes i've this random disappearance, assault rifle and shotgun should be 9999 but always drop at around 2000, also sometimes mkii special ammo are completely depleted. Kinda annoying considering you spend money.
