The problem is that there's really no official standards out there with regards to TV specs and how they're marketed. The TV you're looking at does have frame interpolation, but it maxes out at 60Hz, which doesn't look promising. Usually frame interpolation TV's are 120hz, and I don't see a response time. Also, I'm not sure what he means by UHD color space. I assume he's referring to HDR?

I presume he means the Rec. 2020 colour space, and yes, HDMI 2.0a does support the Rec. 2020 colour space.

But not all TVs have\support the UHD color space and without it you can get some weird artifacts or possibly inferior color reproduction.

So I'm looking at a 24" or 27" 2K IPS. Got about £300-400 to spend but would be happy to go cheaper if something offered particularly good for value for money. Any ideas?

I was looking at this monitor before I started considering going for a 4K TV: https://www.asus.com/Monitors/MX27AQ/

It's apparently featuring a good quality panel made by LG. It looks really gorgeous in my opinion.

I am also potentially looking for a 1440p monitor if there are any better offers out there. I don't really have a budget in mind (it has to be 60 Hz).

I don't know what it is because objectively there's nothing that special about it, but that's a really gorgeous screen.

Well, for starters, any monitor with superthin bezels is going to provide a more immersive experience and thus it looks better.

That's lovely. I'm inclined more towards the 24"/25" range at the moment due to a lack of space and the MX25AQ fits the bill pretty much perfectly.

Tell me about it. I will have to get a new desk myself to fit a new 1440p monitor or 4K TV (haven't decided yet) plus some studio monitors and possibly some other music gear that I will get next year. Thankfully I found a bunch of cheap(ish) ones made by Ikea.

If any of you are in the US, I sometimes use slickdeals.com to look for components. In fact, the monitors I'm currently using were from Slick Deals.

I found an amazing deal for a Dell 27" 144hz 1440p w/ a 1-3 ms response time and G-Sync being sold by Newegg through Ebay for $470. I almost want to buy one.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-S2716DG-27-Gaming-Monitor-with-WQHD-2560-x-1440-Resolution-144Hz-Refresh-R-/381451971333?customid=43b3ba8c3bfd11e692194e3a31bb05bd0INT&pub=5574652453&campid=5335869999&afepn=5335869999&afepn=5335869999&rmvSB=true

Also found this Monoprice monitor for $249. 27" IPS 60Hz 1440p w/ 1 ms response time. I never knew they made monitors, so it's definitely a gamble.

I don't think I'll ever go back to using TN panels. Also, I am wary of any sort of adaptive sync technology. Does G-sync guarantee an experience with no screen tearing?

Response times are also relative. Each company can have their own method of measuring them and most people can't tell the difference between a 1 ms panel and an 8 ms panel for example. That's just an insanely brief period of time for our brain to perceive in any way.

It is advised to go to a retail store to it yourself rather than ordering it from a webstore.

I once ordered an Asus MX series and I totally regretted it, yes, the design looks gorgeous, nice thing bezels but the image looks totally sh*t.

Black is grey, red is light red which it's not supposed to be light red and you can't see any detail in movies/games in dark/night scenes.

You'll miss a lot of details. Luckily I could return it right the next day and got refunded.

And no, it was no backlight bleed as there were no spots. Even when turned the brightness down to zero, black was still grey.

Serious answer, is your date and time set correctly on your PC?

Comedy answer, tomorrow you'll wake up and Windows 10 will have installed itself.

Yes, and it's already running win10.

The files were copied from a friend's pen drive, so I'm guess his windows is the one at fault not mine, funny nonetheless.

I have a question to ask to those who lives in UK. After that Breaksit (Brexit) story, does the hardware tech prices go up?

What will this mean to the rest of Europe?

Okay so I have a question that might be stupid to ask but imma ask it anyways

So I have a laptop and it is filled with a lotta stuff I like. Could I theoretically copy the entire thing to my new hard drive for the build i've been working on and avoid re-installing/paying for windows 8 for it? Would I be able to just temporarily mount the laptop's hard drive to my computer, copy the files to the SSD I have for the computer, and then just put the hard drive i have back into the laptop, then go from there for my build?

TLDR: could I copy my laptop's HDD to my planned build's SSD and avoid paying for windows 8/ re-installing all the stuff I already have?

EDIT: Well I answered my own question through a google search.

Might as well just buy a serial key, lol.

Just ordered my EKWB water cooling pieces. I bought a full nickel Supremacy EVO for the CPU and a plexi/nickel block for the GPU w/ a nickel backplate.

All this stuff is so expensive, and I haven't even purchased the pump/res and rads yet. sh*t adds up quickly.

I came very close to starting ordering EK bits, but a quick back-of-a-napkin calculation for the bits I wanted told me I was looking at north of £400 for a two rad loop (GPU/CPU) without even having decided what kind of tubing I wanted, much less ordering it.

Yeah, the blocks/backplate are the only thing I'm ordering from them at this point. Everything else is probably going to be BitsPower or AlphaCool from here on out. What did you end up going with?

I didn't. I bought a GTX 1080 instead. A full loop is still planned (240mm front, 280mm top, GPU and CPU) but I'm going to hold off for a bit.

It's not really that much related to the political situation, as Brexit is not a wholesale change in the political spectrum, it will mainly due to currency issues*, as most PC hardware will be imported from Asia, so this is outside of the EU. But if there is any changes in pricing, due to market conditions, it would probably be quite low, a few pounds here and there, but when you counteract that with inflation and also the generational changes in hardware it would be quite negligible.

*Or in the case a few years back with Hard Drives made in Thailand (which there was a lot), this could be affected by local issues such as mass flooding, which halted production for a while and boosted prices.

My new monitor just came in the mail!

It's a refurbished AOC 1920 x 1080p widescreen, 21.5 inch, 60hz refresh rate monitor.

It'll do nicely. >:3c

It looks pretty good, but personally I'm going to wait a bit and either get a used 390 for cheap or wait for the custom variants to come out
