Yeah, I feel bad blocking ads from legitimate sites just trying to make some dime on providing a useful service, but until they can flat-out guarantee that advertisements will be unobtrusive and, most importantly, free of malware, I'll keep using adblock.

Not having a good night with my PC, first a steam update wouldn't install properly and I had to reinstall steam, and loss my steam install game library, and then a hour or so later after Fallout 4 was reinstalling in Steam, a message pops in from the right telling me errors where found on my fast drive and a restart was required to repair the errors, after the PC restarted my internet wouldn't connect, so I had to unplug my modem to reboot it and it took 20 minutes to reconnect!..

Now fallout 4 is finishing reinstalling and I hope no more trouble happens!..

I'm so bored, nothing on TV and I can't play games tell a game install's!..

I'm all for supporting and all but it really annoys me when I gotta turn off my Adblocker to download something and put up with popups / page redirects while I try to get past the site so I can download what I need.

If only there was another way to support the people that make these things through without having to put up with Ads, then that would be great. Just not sure if the person I was downloading from offers direct donations and even then they might not get them as frequently as someone visiting the Adfly page for example.

That's why I block every single ad, simple. They are way too annoying, too dangerous, audio at full blast your heart almost explode,

and way too malicious. F*ck that, I use NoScript and uBlock Origin. I stopped using Adblock+ after reading recently negative stories about them.

And how in the world's f*ck can a ad cause BSOD?? Seriously?! Really pathetic programming skillz.

And if we disable all Ads, people start calling us bad because we are not supporting people who take time to stuff together. I know the author wants something in the end but I'm not going to be putting my PC at risk at the end of the day so they can make 50c - $2 off my visit from the Adfly link. This isn't directed at you but It's just that I see fights and arguments everywhere where a person has kept adblock on because they are sick of Ads and people are b*tching at the person who kept Adblock on because he was sick of getting a face full of Ads.

Not sure if you mean it at me either but It was a Joke, I know the Ad isn't a real BSOD but I thought I would joke about it.

There are really really worse ads. If I browse the webz without adblocker, I get every single bullsh*t with 'Download' all over them

when trying to download what I want/need. And believe it or not, I always get fishy .EXE installers and other serious malicious malware and adware.

Or having your earphones and you'll hear an immediately very loud sounds that you almost die.

And unfortunately I do have health problems so this is not okay.

Ads can cause serious problems.

My 1070 arrived this morning.

I'll be installing it immediately. I'm still waiting for the new Gigabyte G1 Z170 Ultra Gaming mobos to release until I get my new PC fully upgraded. I'll figure out what type of RAM I want after I get the mobo.

Nice!

My EVGA 1080 SC was processed an hour ago at a local facility. It will (should...) be out for delivery tomorrow! I'm going to try and head home during my lunch break or work from home tomorrow in order to receive the package. I'm tired of waiting!

Can't wait!

Just a heads up. I was kind of concerned when I fired up GTA V and put everything on Ultra at 1080p. It was hovering framerates around 50 FPS, so I figured my old i7 920 was bottlenecking things. That may be partly true, but after discussing it with the people over at the Nvidia reddit, we basically concluded that MSAA at X8 was destroying the framerate. I turned it off completely, and then I was averaging framerates around 80 to 110 FPS. I was able to bump MSAA up to X4 and averaged around 70 FPS. Then I turned it off completely again and used DSR. I'm new to Nvidia, so I think I'll just stick with DSR.

Still, at 1080p, I thought I was going to be able to max everything out with no problem. Then again, GTA V is highly CPU dependent. Can't wait to ditch this old 920.

Let me know what sort performance you get on the 1080.

Will report back. Mine is currently out for delivery! Post man should hit my area in an hour or two.

I can't wait. Working from home today, too!

I'm on a 34' ultra wide 1440p monitor so we'll see what kind of performance I get...

How has that ultra wide been for you? I'm currently deliberating whether I should get a 29' LG ultra wide monitor (29UM58) or an ASUS MX 27'' 1080P monitor. I like the aspect ratio but the vertical space available seems to be very low, kinda worries me a bit. The demo at my local Best Buy also had a very blurry look to it. I'm not sure if 1080P is the limiting factor in general but 3440 x 1440 is far off my budget :p. I'm not gonna be doing anything productivity orientated (even if so it will be very little) so gaming and media consumption are the only things it will mostly be used for.

Don't buy a 1080p bigger than 24". They look universally sh*t.

2560x1440 is the new normal.

I love it. Absolutely love it. I used to have dual monitors before but having a 34' ultra wide has eliminated my need for that. I have the LG 34UC88 and it's a pretty great panel. I know the previous generation had issues with back light bleed and pixels but that has been eliminated with the 34UC88 and 34UC98 (same panel as the 88, just has thunderbolt and is white).

The only thing I hate is having a 21:9 monitor in a 16:9 world.

As sivis said though, I wouldn't recommend a 1080p monitor when you're looking at ultra wide. You can find 1440p monitors for a decent price. Go for that. You will not regret it. I went into overkill mode and got a 3440x1440 curved ultra wide monitor.

Installed my 1080 SC earlier today. Beast of a card. Love it. Witcher 3 looks amazing. I get above 60FPS at my native resolution and all ultra. Hairworks off. If I have it on, it lingers in the high 50's and low 60's.

I have not tried V yet.

I've been using a 29" 2560x1080 display for a few months now and there's no way in hell I'd go back to 16:9, not even @ 1440p. It's easily the best upgrade I've had in years, far surprassing the SSD (which I got rid of actually) in terms of improving the overall experience.

Roughly what percentage of recent games support ultra-wide resolutions?

I don't play recent games that much, but I'd say pretty much all of them work fine in 21:9 if you ask about AAA titles. I haven't had much issues even in many of the older games, so...

That feeling when you've spent 4 hours doing brain transplant and plastic surgery to your PC and it gives error messages on boot up. Thank god that was only me being an idiot and installing the RAM incorrectly, it seems to be working now.

[edit:] Temperatures on the 4790K seemed very high compared to my 4690K so I thought I'd try putting on more thermal paste, which I thought would take maybe 15 minutes from turning PC off to turning PC back on. Ended up partly dislodging the cooler from the motherboard, spilling isopropanol all over the table and then get thermal paste on my hands. Project took almost an hour.

I have used Zenmate and DotVPN. Zenmate is faster in speed and allows you to access whichever site you like from some other locations IP Address. Incase you want to visit Deep/Dark web you need to download TOR which is a browser that covers your IP with over two other IP's. Although its better to keep your Java Script off when you visit some of the sites. Also, keep the webcam covered in case you go to some really strange site.

I think I'm pretty dead set on the motherboard I'll be going with, I've just been waiting for them to release and get a relative price. They're available in Europe at the moment, so I reached out to Gigabyte on Twitter, and they told me they should be in the US by next week.

I chose the Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Ultra Gaming board. It's got all the bells and whistles, including a little RGB with no unnecessary colors other than black. OverclockersUK is retailing at them for about $210, so hopefully its around there in the US.

Anyone in the Uk looking for a 1080 and don't mind waiting until the beginning of next month, the Zotac AMP Extreme I pre-ordered is currently down to £579.99 on Amazon. Looking at the specs, it should be faster than the £659.99 ASUS Strix (almost identical core clock but 10% faster memory)

I'm with Rogers Cable and I rent my modem with them, and I already returned my modem for exchange for a new one two weeks ago, but my internet seems to lose connection between 3 pm and 7 pm and for up to a hour, I reboot it, that be unplugging the modem for 60 seconds and that does nothing, the internet still takes 40 minutes to a hour to reconnect or correct itself!..

This morning when I woke up at 7 am my internet wasn't working and at 8 am it was still out and so I called Rogers and the hold time for a internet tech rep was 3 hours, so I know these internet outages is not my modem or fault it's on there end!..

I want them to send a cable guy to my place to look at my cable connection and modem issue, but Rogers uses sub contractors and these guys are cocky little sh*ts that don't even hook up there equipment and well just turn on the TV and scan throw the channels quickly and tell me your cable signal is strong and then just leave a new remove so I wont be charged fifty bucks for them coming out, there sub contractors look like they just got out of high school and like rappers wanna bes with how they wear there clothes and I have to ask them to remove there shoes each time!..

they use a modem called hitron cgn3 modem

So I watched this video and now I'm almost convinced that I should get a 4K monitor TV.

The only possible con for me is that according to Jerry, 1440p will not scale well (though both 4K and 1440p have a width/high ratio of exactly 1.777777777777778, so I don't know why it wouldn't scale down properly) on a 4K screen, and that's the resolution I intend to play on with newer games but older games will do just fine in 4K 60 plus I get a ton of screen space for video editing and music stuff. So should I get one? Which TV should I get? It has to support HDMI 2.0 for 4K 60 and the proper color space.

Screen ratio is not an issue. What is an issue is that the width/height @ 4K are 1.5 times bigger than @ 1440p, and since LCD displays can't display half a pixel, the image will have to be smoothed to be displayed properly, which could make it look blurry. This wouldn't be so apparent if you ran a game @ 1080p on 4K displays, because in this case width/height are exactly twice as big.

I am looking at this TV for a potential purchase to use as a PC monitor: http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-43UH668V

It says it supports HDMI 2.0a, which means it should by definition run at 4K 60 Hz, right? Is that a reasonable assumption? I'm also wondering if it supports the UHD color space and what the response time is. I can't seem to be able to find any info on that.
