Totally sure. They were developed independently from FX series. Some even speculate they could replace the FX series in desktops in the long run.

Meh. Bringing Adaptive Sync support should be their priority, not 4K.

All that damn marketing about 4k is getting f*cking annoying. It's like you MUST get 4k or you're stupid.

Yeah sure, like you will see any difference between Full HD and 4k in a distance. If 4k on monitor, sure, fork out more than a grand

to get a dual GPU that's powerfull enough to handle games on 4k at 60FPS. Games are also been very horrible optimized

F*cking idiots trying to market 4k everywhere. We won't see any new GPU gen on 20nm soon and high likely not this year.

As said^ I really really want Apadtive Sync. having a sh*tload of screen tearing is not fun.

And yes, the "good" dogbitch of Nvidia asking 200 dollars for their G-Sync and else pay 200 dollars more for a sh*tty horrible TN panel monitor.

Have you actually seen 4k displays in use IN PERSON? The difference is immediately noticeable. This is the kind of marketing that's needed to get these displays out there in large numbers. The more people that have them, the more demand there will be for widespread 4k media, programming, and optimized games. This is a good thing, not a bad thing. Don't get mad because you can't currently afford it. Prices go down when production numbers go up, and production numbers aren't going to rise unless sales rise. I just bought a 1080P LED 40" TV, and I damn sure can't afford to replace my three 24" IPS displays, but I'm welcoming 4k and can't wait for prices to go down. Playing poorly optimized "benchmark games" maxed out at 4k is not my goal, nor should it be yours. There are plenty of great older games that even an average system would have no problem running at 4k, as well as a certain soon to be released PC game I'm sure we're all awaiting that would really shine at 4k, though I'm sure you'll need a good high end system for that one.

Anybody know what stores have 4K TV's on display? I'm in the New York area. I'd love to see one of these in person.

I'm not in New York but the local Best Buy here had one on display. Picture is simply amazing.

Apparently it will return in Update 3 (not Update 2 as it had been speculated). And Windows 9 is scheduled to be released two months after Update 3.

Just wondering what you guys thought of my setup. How are all the parts? I'm hoping the only thing I will have to maybe upgrade in the next few years is the GPU. Pretty sure that's all the specs that you care about, right?

It'd be nice to know the PSU and mobo too.

Are you buying all the parts or you have them already?

I already have them, I built it as my first PC for Christmas 2013. To be honest, I'm not really sure which brand/model they are, I am trying to look through all the owners manuals to find out. I believe the PSU is an Evga 500w or 600w Bronze Power Supply. The mother board is an Asus P8Z77-V LK. I like my PC, it runs all the games I want to and gets about an average of 50fps on BF4 ultra. I know the requirements aren't out yet, but do you think it will run GTA 5 fine? Thanks

Hard to tell.

Anyway, your rig seems fine. Mobo is a bit mediocre, but not the worst I've seen.

Almost time to upgrade as my ancient board as it's getting worse and worse. Bios will freeze if SATA is set to ACHI or RAID. IDE works better, but still does freeze. Most of the time no POST, ROG logo shows up in block chunks like a unfinish puzzle. System makes rapid beeps as if keyboard is stuck. Onboard voltmeter LED says I have OC the NB to very dangerous level, but the bios setting are at default settings. Besides all these issues, I can now turn on my computer by pressing any key on the keyboard. :sigh:

So far, these past few days, it seems to be behaving...

ShopBLT.com has released pre-order prices for the upcomig Haswell-E CPUs.

Prices may not be accurate as Intel haven't officially release them yet.

Wow, 20MB cache? That is a pretty extreme price for a CPU.

Wow, 20MB cache? That is a pretty extreme price for a CPU.

Intel Extreme Edition processors has always been at the $1K mark, ever since when they were first introduced back in 2003 with their very first Pentium 4 Extreme Edition CPU.

20MB of L3 cache is a lot, but their Xeon line up has more cache, up to 45MB.

The cheapest Haswell-E CPU, Core i7 5820K will only have 28 PCIe lanes, where the more expensive 6 core and the 8 core Extreme Edition will have 40 PCIe lanes.

Damn, that's one good looking board. Ten USB 3.0 ports is so indulgent, though. The mobo I'll be getting has six and even that's leaving me with plenty to spare.

So, I upgraded my phones today. I went from the LG G2 to the Galaxy S5, and I have to say, it was quite worth it. I'm not into the small little features such as the fingerprint scanner, but I do love the S-Health app and I plan on using it when I'm out and about.

Intel SkyLake

Intel has just announced their Broadwell successor Skylake. Intel Skylake will come with 4 versions. Skylake -H, -U, -Y, and -S.

Skylake -S will be the only one that uses the LGA socket where users can swap out their processors. The other 3 uses a BGA array therefore the processor is soldered to the motherboard.

New chipsets are also introduced along with the Skylake platform and it's based on their new 100 series chipset. A total of 6 chipests will be released, replacing each of the current 8 and 9 series chipsets.
Z170 will be the flagship chipset for Skylake, replacing the current Z97 chipset. H97 will get replaced by H170, H110 replaces H81, etc.

Intel Skylake will be manufactured on their 14nm process, uses a new LGA1151 socket that is not compatible with current processors and support for DDR4, but it also retains the old support for DDR3. Release date should be around 2H 2015.

Asus already has a OC socket with more pins, which benefits with overclocking. Gigabyte has also hopped on board and came out their their version of the OC socket. Can't tell if there are any differences between the 2, but it does have more pins than Intel's reference socket.

The GTX970 is simply bloody brilliant. Cheap, fast, power efficient... How will AMD get out of this one? R9-290/290X need to drop down by at least ~$200 to stay competetive...
