Couldn't answer that for you Pt.

As for that graphics... holy mother of god, that is huge. Seriously... and I thought my HD 4850 was big, lol. I couldn't imagine putting that in a case standing up, I'm sure it'd either rip itself out of the PCI-e slot or take the slot right out of the motherboard. I didn't watch either videos entirely, although I did catch that only a 1,000 are being made but how much do they cost?

Oh, and I don't think I could ever enjoy playing a video game with that thing's fan running at 100%. I'd have to wire it up to run in another room... that's just way too loud!

Just received Cooler Master Dominator II Advanced 692...

...holy crap is it huge! wow.gif I didn't expect it to be that big honestly. But I sure do love it. Looks great and it so spaceious I can put my dog in it. tounge.gif And that SATA dock is just extremely handy. And I especially like front fan with switchable illumination.

TBH I'm more happy about this case than my new PC tounge.gif Awesome value for money. Well worth buying wink.gif

Huh? There is no such thing as a CM Dominator II Advanced 692.

I assume you're talking about a case? If so, you I believe you must have it confused with this.

Just had a look at your PCs. Why not sell everything but the laptop and put the money into the new PC?

Geez, I always thought Dominator was part of it's name. Well, for sure it's CM 692 Advanced tounge.gif

Firstly, all of these PCs are used - I forgot to delete the "unused" annotation - will update in a minute. Old Celeron works as a TV in the garage biggrin.gif, my mom uses P4 for Word/Excel/whatever, C2Q belongs to my bro and laptop belongs to my sis. Secondly, PCs with Celeron and P4 aren't worth so much, so it's quite pointless to sell them (unlike the Q6600, which I still can sell for some decent cash).

Finally, X3440 + GTX470 are far more powerful than I thought and I don't feel like I should buy something better wink.gif Hell, I have no need of overclocking it, at least now.

Dominator is Corsair's name for their high-end RAM.

I'm like a moth to useless LED lights, they stock them at overclockers now. 42.99 for the airpro, 22.99 for the ram cooler. :<

Fozzy Fozborne

I need a new router and I haven't shopped for one for a while and I was quite amazed by the new low in marketing. Linksys/Cisco claims that a "basic" router (G/N) is good for "Browsing, chat and email" and by stepping up to a higher-performance router (~$50 more) you could add "streaming music straight off the internet". Then for only a bit more "streaming web video" was possible, but only on their latest and greatest devices.

Seriously?

Well, I was looking for Harmony Engine VST on google and was going on random sites to try to get it for free.

I now have a major virus and when I try to go on system restore it says it's infected and doesn't load. Neither does any program. So I quickly disconnected the Wifi, put on some files that I need on a usb, and am now running a factory restore. Luckily I still have my old laptop from 2008 that works perfectly in the mean time smile.gif

Oh well, sh*t happens, and sh*t happens fast.

I think that torrent sites are more reliable than googling for free stuff. BTW, you can find that VST on isoHunt and Bitsnoop.

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks like they did some house cleaning on the pinned topics around here... didn't notice until just now.

Anyway, there's been some changes to my computer set up since I moved. I gave my little brother my HD 4850 for the PC he just built and just bought myself a 4550. It plays GTA:SA just fine and runs full HD movies smoothly, that's all I need.

I also pulled out my 320GB HDD and replaced it with a 1TB drive. So I'm rocking 2.5TB right now... only about half of that space left, getting smaller every day.

I also just bought myself the Logitech K800 wireless, back lit keyboard and the Logitech Performance MX mouse. f*cking love them! I wouldn't really need wireless if I were at a desk, but I sit on a couch and use the computer (running on a 42" hdtv and a 22" monitor side by side), so having the freedom is great. I went with the backlit one because it's got shorter key travel and I watch movies a lot so it can be dark in the room often. As for the mouse... I need a bunch of buttons lol, and there was a gaming mouse available (I think it was a Lycosa?) but I didn't like the shape as much.

Any new tech purchases, guys?

Well, I got myself a proper CPU cooler - Prolimatech Megahalems. So far it's doing very well - overclocked my X3440 to 3,7GHz @ 1,3V (not fully stable though sad.gif) and temps are like 70-75C under full load (LinX). I think it was money well spent icon14.gif

The Lycosa's a keyboard tounge.gif

Just ordered this monitor to take over the duties of my laptop's failing screen and it should be here by tomorrow. I'm really hoping it's as good as all of the reviews there were making it out to be, since I'm planning on doing all sorts of design work on it and need quality color, contrast and decent black levels to get the sh*t right.

Is that an HTPC or something? I want one sooo bad. Too expensive to justify right now, though...

@The-King, lol... it was a Razer brand then tounge.gif Can't remember which model of Razer mouse it was... some wireless one with a funky design and a bunch of buttons. I may have gone for it but like I said, didn't like the shape and the fact that I can run the Logitech mouse and keyboard off the same wireless usb receiver is great. Not only to free up a second usb port, but to avoid any interference as well.

Heck no, my parents needed a new computer to replace the god awful thing that they were using. The build came to about £400

Specs

i3 @ 2.9Ghz

Dominator 4GB 1600mhz dual channel

HD5570

300w

1TB HDD

Anyone hear any more information about the Razor Onza, the wired controller for the 360?

It seems all the info I have laid eyes on have been nothing new, just the concept controller itself.

Because I really want one, Razor brand aside it's cheaper lower then the official [email protected] version, but works and looks vastly better?

Not much info has come out on it. Razer's a PC focused company so it makes some sense that they haven't put too much effort into it. Saw some recent shots to hype the new Orca headset that had some Onzas in them though.

Go here for a bit of info on it, and there's a registration section that seems centered around letting you know when it'll start becoming available.

That's nuts!

As far as RAID goes... isn't there a kind of RAID that will stripe the data across two drives to speed up initial write time, but then eventually clone all the data across both drives? Not sure if that's out there, or possible... but it'd be great to have the quicker write speeds with the redundancy. If that's possibly, I'd love to have a system with 5-10TB at least, in this set up. But as it is... that'd take a lot of 2TB drives which are slow and faulty right now...

Dare I say it, but I think AMD/ATI finally have the upper hand over nVidia in terms of graphics cards. nVidia released their DX11 cards months after ATI did. Here ATI is releasing the next generation of DX11 card, and nVidia isn't even done releasing their first generation of DX11 cards.

Well... all I can say is that HD6800 offers decent performance for money, but I'm rather disappointed about horrible OC.

Thus, if I was to buy a GPU today, I'd choose GTX470 in favour of 6870. Prices (at least in Poland) are virtually the same.

I was told I'm the only LaserDisc fan and owner here, Well, I do own a few, and I took most of my later model Pioneers apart to work on, I have a gear/sensor issue where I swapped the laser diode assemblies to make sure things were good on that end, then I inspected the gear sync holes for the tray, they seemed good, everything that was visibly wrong I corrected, still, tray and disc load, I get the laser moving to read the media and a horrible clicking results, the gears are mis-aligned. Who nowadays can solve this issue? I'm only thinking a complete transport swap between players is the solution, but if anyone is SMART enough to figure it out, post or PM!! Soon

I am a newbie here and just wanna say Hi to everyone. I am Crystal from Louisiana, US.
