Finally moved to a "proper" internet connection.

Are there any other low profile white keyboards that look like this? I want RGB only so that I can set the color to white. Also, I like the optical switches on the Gram XS but that's not a requirement. I still have my Gram XS but I wouldn't mind a better built version of this as Tesoro's keyboards are kinda plasticky.

Edit: Apparently Cooler Master were working on something very similar but better. Look at how beautiful this thing is. It's a shame they never released a finished product.

That CM one is a Mac keyboard isn't it?

You could get a Keychron keyboard if you want a wireless mechanical. Buy the white keys for it, disassemble it and paint the frame white. That's what I'm going to do, when the full key version finally gets back in stock.

Universal. It's a cancelled product unfortunately. It looked like the perfect low profile keyboard.

Edit: Yeah, but the keyboards I provided as examples are even lower profile with the switches being mostly inside the keyboard, not raised above the surface as much.

Tesoro Gram XS?

If you're just after a flat looking board, then aren't there endless options for that? I have the white Mac version of the Logitech K750 as a spare board, and it's essentially the look you're after. Slim, low keys, white.

Googling "slim white keyboard" gives you tons of results. Doesn't seem like you need RGB, if all you want is a white glow. A generic white backlit one would work.

I have it and it's discontinued. It's also not that well built (kinda plasticky).

Has to be mechanical though. The Gram XS would be perfect if it were still in production and if it were made of metal.

What you're looking for is essentially a niche product. I'm assuming you've already searched thoroughly and didn't find anything. If I can't find what I want, that's usually when I go the DIY route. I could modify a Keychron to get what you want, but I don't know if that's something you're willing to do.

The K5 looks really cool actually but I don't think that I want wireless. I don't see the point of it honestly.

Edit: It works wired as well. It might be what I want. I just wish there was a lighter color option. It's nice that they have an optical switch option.

Regarding wireless. For me, reduced clutter is enough of a positive to go with it.

I'm actually on the completely opposite side of the whole wired vs wireless thing. I don't understand the point of wired peripherals anymore. It seems like the only benefit used to be the lower input lag. However, nowadays input lag is effectively unnoticeable on gaming mice. Wireless gear is used in competitive tournaments. If those players are using it, I doubt any other gamer can find excuses against wireless. Keyboards will soon follow if they aren't already there. Battery life has never been an issue for me either. I used an old Logitech S510 like 15 years ago and I'm pretty sure the battery life on that thing was like 6 months for the AAA batteries with insanely heavy use, and I never turned it off.

With wireless lag performing at a similar level to wired. I cannot think of any reason to stick with a cable unless someone just prefers seeing a cable for some odd reason.

I've just switched from wired to wireless for my mouse. The one single and extremely minor gripe I have with wired over wireless (which is VERY specific to my setup) is that the wireless receivers (I use mine in non-BT mode) tend to take about 10 seconds to properly power on.

Fine if you have your mouse connected straight into a PC, but mine is fed in via a KVM so get about 10 seconds of zero input when switching from my work laptop to my desktop system.

New SSD due to arrive in a week (or less). I caved in and got the Pro model. Might as well since I am going to keep this SSD as secondary storage in a future PC build. Modern video games don't run very well on HDDs anymore lol. I was getting streaming errors in Forza Horizon 5 in particular (but running at max settings). I'm hoping a SATA 3 SSD is enough for modern games for now. My aging PC doesn't have NVMe support lol.

Still got my two 250gb 850 evo's that i've had for years that i used for Arma 3 and works like a good'en for games too.

I did recently upgrade to another nvme drive 1tb, since storage was low and my Skyrim folder is now like 65gb + with mods & wanted to make use of that last slot on my MB.

Got it off amazon for 68 quid.

I've now got 4TB of NVMe, no SATA at all.

In my next PC build that is my intention as well. Two NVMe SSDs, 1 TB for OS and 4 TB for games (though that is somewhat overkill given that I uninstall most modern games). The slower SATA SSD would be useful for music and other downloads that don't require super fast access.

Made an extremely rookie mistake yesterday installing a new cpu cooler, Bought a Scythe Fuma 2 Rev B to replace my kind of broke stock cooler for my 3900x, I pretty much killed that cooler taking it apart to clean it and it got to where I needed to finger spin the fan to start it every day.

Got the new cooler installed, temps where idling low 50's C. Was rudely awoken this morning for a different reason, while taking an hour to try and fall back to sleep, I realized I may have forgotten to take off the coolers plate protection sticker. Immediately went to work on the computer to see if that was the case and it was, and as usual I get everything into the computer and the thing doesnt give a monitor image, sweating bullets now, turned out I forgot to plug in the power cables into the GPU, I do this every fricken time! lol. Temps now idling around 32C.

edit:

I thought I took the precaution to heat up the CPU so it would separate from the cooler when I pulled it off, I was wrong and in the process bent a few pins on the cpu separating it from the cooler, I was able to get them straightened using a metal spudger tool.

I had  unintended surprise tonight when ordering  oldboy film from youtube, damn chrome had stored my credit card number in it's browser, so I typed "does google chrome browser store your credit card numbers?" into google search, sure enough a site called hackernoon said  yes chrome does and told me  how to turn off chromes autofill feature for credit cards, home address and phone numbers

youtube had my VISA debit card number and only needed my cvv security number to complete my movie rental order, this was very uncomfortable and has been fixed now thank's  to the H site

The only site's that should have my VISA debit card number is steam,   ubisoft store canada ,amazon prime store, for my online purchases and amazon prime movies and paypal, but even they don't have my current VISA debit card number, sense  no ones uses paypal wallet or wired email service anymore

3000 series availability has been pretty good for like 2 months now. I've had 3080ti and 3090s in my basked like 4 or 5 times at MSRP, including Founders Edition cards in the case of the latter. I just haven't been able to justify throwing a grand plus at a GPU...

Computer eggsperts I have a question.

I'm looking for long term data storage. What long term storage medium would probably not corrode, be useless after 10-15 years, or disappear off the internet? Let's say you wanted your great great great great grandkids in the year 2400 to know what you were meme-ing about in the 2020s, what would you use?

Cloud storage is an option, but to go along with that, what is the best local storage option? My initial plan was to just get a bunch of HDDs, copy the same data on them, then shove them into a custom made, sealed, waterproof case, then shove that into a fireproof box. Taking them out only when I needed to add more data to them. But I think the platters on the HDD will eventually corrode or lose their magnetic field (or whatever HDDs do), making them useless. I've heard of the M-DISC, which supposedly lasts 1,000 years but who knows if that is even true. Low maintenance is something that I am prioritizing. I want to be able to copy the data onto the media, then store it and leave it alone.

Finally caved and bought the MZ1. I didn't really like the designs of the top wireless mice. I didn't think it was going to be this small lol. I guess my hands aren't that small. The strangest thing about it is the weight if you're coming from a regular weight mouse.

this is my current internet with teksavyy and it's $71.13 a month after taxes, they only offer cable phone VOIP service, no wall jack service, I need a jackline to use with my lobby intercom that uses the jack in the wall type phone, cellphones wont work with the  lobby intercom to buzz people in

Yky0084.jpg

I'm thinking of getting internet and landline homephone services with primus Canada, primus unlimited internet has twice the  download speed as my current internet with teksavvy

with teksavvy  internet a game like far cry 6 takes 8 hours to install , one of my games either rdr2 or far cry 6  is over 100gb  download

owe Bell Canada and Rogers are out of the question, they or Money-grubbing thieves and make you renegotiate your plan every year, I'm not a f*cking union negotiator

Jesus I'm glad I don't live in Canada. I pay £25 a month for completely unlimited 500mb/s fibre to the premises, including a static IP address.

I phoned Primus and they said I could get  Internet 75 (see image above) and landline home phone for   $99 CAD a month or that well be the amount after the promotion for both, they said internet 60 isn't available anymore

note when I was with Rogers or Bell, they both charged over $250 CAD a month for cable TV, internet and home phone service , I kicked out bell 2 Decembers ago, and  use either netflix or amazon prime for TV and movie viewing and teksavvy for internet , they had a lot of repeated time zone channels, rogers and bell that is

Right now I have my services for internet, cellphone and TV movie viewing spread across three providers

Teksavvy $71.13  cable 30  unlimited a month

Freedom mobile  $28 a month  for cellphone and long distance within Canada is free

Amazon prime and AMC+ $18.99  a month

Killed my computer the other day after installing a new power supply and video card, I wasnt able to check my 4 ssd's til today and they seem fine through a usb adapter.

Was able to get a replacement video card on its way(MSI 3070 ti Gaming X Trio), ordered a replacement motherboard and power supply as I dont trust the new one and the one it was replacing until I can find a place to test them. If Im lucky, the CPU and Memory survived and I can be back up and running this upcoming Saturday. Even ordered a debug internal speaker and an esd bracelet.

It might have been ESD that did it in.

I was tidying up my cable management and cleaning some dust out after installing the gpu and power supply, had the thing running for a few hours before i went back in to tidy the cables and dust, then the problems started and while troubleshooting, the gpu started to smoke.

My cpu cooler has braided cable and I was routing it under the motherboard and maybe it created some static as it was being pulled through idk.

Symptoms of what happened:

Switching on the power supply at the back would light up my fans and make them spin nonstop as well as light up my memory sticks rgb and nothing would show up on display.

I had a powered usb 3.0 hub plugged in, it was still plugged into  a usb port and while I removed the power plug to it when I first started installing the new stuff, it fried and killed my new this year Corsair HS60 Haptic headset and Logitech 920 webcam that were plugged into it.

Tried fitting an XFX 6750XT into a mini ITX case... that went well 😛

After some fiddling and dismatling the case some more, I've eventually gave up. Gigabyte/AORUS cards should fit though. We'll see.

It's so big! The cooler design looks cool.
