Zakfiel
Hi, i see a lot of question and wish about a RDR remake. This video explain the reason, to me it's the real reason, also if you don't have the time to watch the video there's a screenshot that "resume it". A remake often take a couple of years to be released with other developper (ex: Square enix). If rockstar were doing a remake we should had at least an announce from them by now... Also they are perfectionist (or lazy depend to who). Video: Screenshot: Edited September 14, 2020 by Zakfiel UltraGizmo64 and MrsRackman
Officer Friendly
The real reason is very simple. Online makes more money. Rockstar now has an modus operandi for abandoning single player after launch to focus on online or other new titles. They are busy with GTA6, GTA6 online, GTA5 Next gen 2.0, and the remaining monkeys working on RDO. This was before GTA Online blew up though, i really do think it was just due to the RDR code being a mess Mainline421 and MrsRackman

They didn't abandon the single player or online with RDR1. Liberty-TG, MrsRackman and LorshZontek

amback
if the problem is the source code, a multi billion dollar company like rockstar has the money to fix that issue. more than likely rockstar will remaster the game for next gen consoles and PC.
