If only there was a way to get the day 1 patch and the day one patch only, oh well time to jail break

It's a fictional world but fiction can be written well or poorly. There's less time between 1986 and 1992 than that but would it be fine to have San Andreas' songs in Vice City? Or how about LCS's 1998 songs in San Andreas? It wouldn't ruin the game but it would be stupid and correct to call it out as stupid.

They think they can set a game in 2013 (and cram it full of contemporary satire and cultural references) and then pretend it's still a modern setting nearly a decade later instead of making a new game for that. It's pathetic. Just highlights how badly they're milking this game.

This "the game is set in X" crap is getting old. The game is set around present times, the game doesn't need to be worse just to appeal to some niche time that wasn't even that long ago generally speaking. I don't particularly think Rockstar captured 2012/2013 well at all anyway. So I happily listen to the new music, I happily drive the DLC cars and have them running around in my traffic. It's just better than trying to keep it all "realistic" 🥱

But we are talking about music here, its not like they're using the most trending songs right now, now that would be a problem

Like I said I don't think it ruins the game or anything, it's only a small detail. But I still think it's dumb and that it's fair to criticise it.

"Highest in the Room" by Travis Scott was added with iFruit Radio in the Diamond Casino Heist Update. That song was the highest charting hip hop song of 2019. Another very popular hip hop song from 2019 that they included was "Bop" by DaBaby.

So I was playing GTA V on my PS5 last night and I put the Ifruit Radio station in singleplayer and that song came on. I love the song and I love Travis Scott but it feels out of place imo being that the game takes place in 2013.

There were plenty of good songs that came out in 2013 why couldn't R* just add those instead? The latest that they should go with songs are 2014 songs. Anything after that just feels out of place in story mode. Online is a different story since we don't care about continuity there.

Yeah but music evolves and changes. That's a problem.

Pop Smoke (RIP) used a lot of UK drill beats in his music and made that very popular very quickly in US rap. That did not exist in 2013 when V takes place.

Well if you thought Blonded and iFruit Radio were bad, wait until the new GTAO radio stations appear in SP 😛 As for those saying "how is it out of place" a LOT of the new stuff on FlyLo FM, WordWide FM, etc, makes references to things that are NOT in Single Player, you'll hear plenty of shoutouts about The Music Locker, stuff about Cayo Perico, vehicles that are not in Single Player, one person even comments about being in an Arcade, etc, as well as soo many Diamond Casino mentions.

Well, you can actually explain all dumb sh*t that's in the game rn by basically saying that this is "a fictional world".

Yeah, fictional world that was always trying to recreate real cities, real atmosphere etc . No fantasy or  futuristic crap, everything looked like it was happening in real world (we're talking about HD universe).

And now they added bunch of flying cars and bikes and whole lot of other bullsh*t. I dont see a big problem for me here - this things only take place in GTAO, but what pisses me off, that in SP there are soundtrack from GTAO, that includes 2020's songs in the game that was set in 2013. It just makes no sense.

To all you people who say "just don't listen to them blah blah" - the purpose of this thread is not to find a solution of this problem, is to discuss and critique how R* just don't give a sh*t about single player anymore.

I actually do that but on an XBOX360 because my PS3 controller is broken and it's hard to find legitimate Sony DualShock3 controllers. I play GTA V on XB360 v1.0, but sometimes I download the patch because the only downside of 1.0 is that there's no Interaction Menu and you can't change hats and glasses on the go. I have a gaming PC (Ryzen 9, RTX 2080TI), I have a PS4, an Xbox Series S and X, a 4K TV and I still don't want to play the PS4/XB1/PC version of GTA V. The game looks washed out as opposed to the XB360/PS3 version where colors are much more lively and vibrant with no blue tint, character models have messed up hair, lighting is poorly made, you can't fully turn off DoF unless you use mods on PC. The cascaded shadows somehow only annoy me in this version of the game. I'm also annoyed by the fact that all these new radio stations appear in Singleplayer. I also like the old-gen helipad, hangar and docks icon better. Literally the only thing I like about the PS4/XB1/PC version of the game is the grass and texture filtering (the ground looks sharper).

........ GTA5 has an atmosphere? News to me.

I've heard both those stations in multiplayer, and there aren't any songs on there that sound borderline listenable ... so I just change the station. Seems overall easy enough to ignore.

Since when is complaining a bad thing?

Obviously it isn't a bad thing to Rockstar, since the majority of GTA5 involves driving from Point A to Point B while listening to irritating people bitch and moan in your ear while you're helpless to stop it.

GTA5 is basically just one long car trip with your in-laws while your wife is on her period.

Personally I don't see a problem. The "2013" Atmosphere in this game isn't that strong to begin with and tbh most of the satire in the game is still relevant today, especially political satire. Culture hasn't changed much from 2013 either. I mean, for example, when you first start out the game there is a news headline about police violence and a man getting shot at a protest... hm... still happening in 2021.

I welcome the modern cars and modern music, and I hope going forward we get more of them. Especially more modern average day cars like the Landstalker XL.

If you leave the game running for about two hours the new mixes on Worldwide and Fly-Lo will play in SP. It takes a really long time to get to them

American culture is far more toxic (in general americans are far more divided now) and focused on identity politics now than it was in 2013.

Police violence is obviously nothing new in the US..I mean riots and police brutality were a thing in the 90s too (see LA riots) that doesn't mean that culture hasn't changed much since then

I don't think being more divided as you're calling it is enough of a culture change. We can already see divisions in culture and political culture in V as it is. If you go out into the countryside people will yell about liberals when you ram into them or steal their car. And there is the Blaine County Radio that already touches up on the differences between left and right wing politics even going as far as to have a catchy country tune play on one of the shows.

Identity politics were touched in V, the Fernando show with its feministic undertones, the Sue Murray lady that's all about women first, and then you have Micheal's hipster monologue to Trevor in one of the missions.

Much of the satire in V is still relevant which is what I am getting at. 2013 may have been 8 years ago but when you can still take the satire depicted in the game and go to yourself "Oh that reminds me of x y and z" then I don't consider the game to be dated enough in terms of this "2013" year.

The only thing V doesn't have is a parody of Covid and BLM, which I'm glad it doesn't because those are touchy subjects and ones I am not interested in hearing be parodied.

Probably these radios were added for the GTAO but became available on GTA5 because of Rockstar lazyness.

They Ended up in single player most likely because the licensing deals, since at the time of these radios, online was still part of GTA5 and not being marketed as a separate entity so Rockstar were kind of put into a situation where they had little choice. I highly doubt it's because laziness because Rockstar has proven before with LSUR and the console versions (PC has all the Still Slipping/Kult FM/Music Locker radios in SP where as console doesn't) that they can lock radios to online mode, so putting these radios in SP was clearly an intentional choice.

Okay, time for my useless ass opinion.

During the first COVID wave (April-July 2020) I replayed GTA 4 again; to get my mind off the pandemic I decided to make my Independence FM playlist consist of pop music from 2007-08. So, yeah, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, you get the idea. Nostalgia.

Oddly enough... it added more to the game in a sense. The original gritty 2008 recession vibe of Liberty City blended seamlessly with the contemporary pop music. IMO, the vibe of autumn 2008 (which I remember well) is caught perfectly by GTA 4, and adding the contemporary pop music just felt right. Seriously I'd actually recommend it if you do a replay. Something about driving around 2008 LC with "Poker Face" playing on the radio felt right. Plus, it added a mainstream pop station that was missing from the game's already great soundtrack.

GTA V's default music selection was enough of a mess as it is, it feels like a hodge podge that tried to please everyone but failed to do so. But yes, the new radio stations kill the original vibe of the game.

I can't imagine playing GTA 4 with 2020 trap music. That sh*t would kill the vibe immediately.

The only way these stations would seamlessly blend in would be a continuously updated SP. And, idk how many would feel about that.

Bruh imagine playing GTA IV listening to the Beat 102.7 and then you hear them playing Tekashi 6ix9ine 😂😂😂 That would kill the vibe immediately.

What you said is a better idea if they wanted to add more music just add music from that particular time period when the game takes place.

I think EFLC's Vladivostok is an underrated take, it's a whole selection with 100% of Progressive House Music featuring even David Guetta, if that isn't Mid-Late 00's, then I don't know what it is.

Yeah, GTA IV (& EFLC) have aged really well in the way that listening to the "modern" stations feels mid-2000's af, it now feels like a game set in the past like VC and SA.

Just the fact that hipsters were a huge part of GTA V makes it dated to me lol. Hipster culture peaked around 2013-2015 and went away completely around 2017 or so.

To be fair, GTA V'S RLS does a really good job at capturing Early 2010s hip hop... Kendrick Lamar, Future, Gucci Mane, Nipsey, Trinidad James, A$AP Rocky. Only one song on "next-gen" (technically last gen now, lol) RLS was released after 2013, and it was released in 2014.

The OG radio stations in V are pretty good at that, it's just the new stations that were added in 2017, 2018... 2021 that should just be kept in timeless-limbo Online that are kinda messing it up, I just ignore them in single player though so it's not much of a big deal for me.
