Blonded & iFruit radio are breaking singleplayer atmosphere

Am I the only one that dislikes those new radiostations in GTA V? The thing is that the whole game takes place in 2013, but those radiostations include songs from 2017, 2018, 2019 etc. Imo opinion this fact breaks the whole atmosphere. It's maybe ok for GTAO, but not for the singleplayer. I miss the good old soundtrack from X360 and PS3 versions of the game.

Are you just going miles out of your way to complain?

Them being in the game doesn't bother me, I don't even listen to them in Online. In SP I just ignore them, and in Online I play with music off 99% of the time (mostly because I hate the mission scores in freemode during business stuff, this game really needs extra audio sliders)

Some of you guys are spoiled by GTA Online. Go back to GTA Online because that's where y'all belong. To OP: Yeah it sucks, Rockstar doesn't care about Singleplayer anymore at all. If it wasn't for the huge amount of money and time they'd have to put in the process, I bet they'd remove the Singleplayer part from the game completely and you'd only be able to play Online. GTA has lost its integrity and turned into a sh*tfest. GTA5 is all about GTA:Online now. Get used to it. It'll never be about Singleplayer anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if the next GTA happened to be Multiplayer only (if GTA6 is ever happening).

Imagine this: Rockstar decides to add super cars, modern guns, flying bikes, hoverboards to RDR2. Yes, that's how stupid GTA Online is.

No wonder Dan Houser left Rockstar, he has probably had enough of their sh*t.

Jesus you are Trevor...

I never touch online, but these small details in both modes show how they became lazy.

The absolute best way to experience GTA V is on a PS3 disconnected from the internet. It's exactly the way the game was intended to be played without meddling of any kind.

Just look at that beautiful sculpture and aesthetically superior palm tree design.

I've still got my 360 version on version 1.00 and it's great to this day. No game breaking glitches, no Rhaspodys and Pigalles on every corner, all original soundtrack. Say what you want about the game lacking, but this is the game I was pissing myself to play exactly seven years ago.

Before you read my reply, I've got to tell you that none of it is sarcasm, even though it sounds like it.

I still play the Xbox 360 version to this day.

To me, the old gen version of the game feels more authentic, more original, more GTA-ish if you know what I mean. It has a different atmosphere; different, but in a good way. The current gen feels sort of ... off. It feels like it's trying to be another game. In all honestly does not feel like GTA anymore.

I even think the old gen version has "better" graphics. Yeah, yeah, at this point you must be like "is this guy high?" but hear me out, please. Obviously, current gen edition clearly has superior graphics from so many aspects: grass, texture quality / filtering, render distance, reflections and so on. Still, for some reason I prefer the old gen lighting / foliage. For instance, the characters have more detailed faces in the old gen version - no, I'm not talking about the textures themselves - it's probably the lighting and shaders. There's only one thing I dislike about the old gen version: low population density compared to the current gen.  I could care less about the resolution, the render distance, the reflections.

A lot of people give me sh*t when I express my opinion regarding this topic. Usually they're like "Are you poor? Why are you still playing this old and outdated version of  the game? Only scrubs play the old gen GTA in 2020. Go buy a PS4 / Xbox One. Go buy a 4K TV, go buy a gaming PC, go buy this, go buy that!". The fact is, I have all of that. I own GTA V on all platforms. Having played every single edition of the game and I still prefer the Xbox360 / PS3 versions. Anyway, most people really only care about the frame rate, graphics and fancy reflections, resolution and shiny stuff like those laser beam guns. I mean yeah graphics do matter until some point but I don't think it's above anything else.

That's all I wanted to say!

Blonded has got a couple of old songs on it, and the Frank Ocean tracks arent bad but theres like 1 too many, the ad for the truck I cant buy gets a little annoying though

Ifruit radio is just hot garbage, I dont really care when any of the songs came out because they suck. I listen to that station when I play as Lamar in Director Mode

Hot take but I believe Rockstar should patch out these stations for GTAV SP AND then patch out the SP stations from GTAO and replace them with new ones to match, e.g. LSUR replaces Soulwax FM, blonded replaces FlyLo FM, etc. If they're supposed to be in their own timelines then mixing music is a no go, the only times the old music should appear in GTAO is via Interiors (Diamond Casino, Strip Club, etc).

Speak for yourself buddy, I wouldn't want Blonded to replace FlyLo.

I agree
Past gen version look more like it was set in HD universe, same as GTA IV. PS4 / Xbox One versions of GTA 5 and GTAO look like its completely another game, separate from IV and past gen.

Last time I checked we were still able to change radio stations and listen to the ones we want that don't "ruin the immersion".

Last time I checked when you press Q (or left arrow on d pad) all radio stations become visible.

*** This is the yoga mission. During this mission the time and weather are set by the game, which means the time and weather were exactly the same on both platforms so it's exactly the same conditions. ***

The timecycle and visualsettings.dat in the old-gen version are indeed different but I swapped them out, on PC (I tried max graphical settings, medium and low) and it still looked like this. I'm pretty sure it's the shader files.

I think Rockstar Games screwed something up (in the PS4/XB1 version) with the ambient occlusion, shaders, shadows or lighting or whatever.

Do you like flying cars and bikes? Do you like futuristic bullsh*t in a game that's set in 2014-20? No? Okay, hop onto GTA Online and just walk around in free mode. Nobody's forcing you to look at flying cars and bikes!

Would you say the same thing if they added radio stations with 1990s songs to Vice City? This thread isn't asking how to avoid hearing the new stations, it's a constructive criticism of the decision to include them. It's not just about being able to avoid crappiness when playing or not, it's about expecting a certain standard of attention to detail and quality game design from a company who set themselves at a higher standard than this many years ago.

No other GTA would've included songs on the radio that came out a decade after the time period the game is set in and they would've been rightly criticised if they did. There's nothing wrong with calling out slipping standards or expressing negative opinions on what they choose to do with the game.

I would have a problem if they removed the old ones, since they are still there and you are not forced to listen to the new ones, this thread is nothing but whine and complain.

Any criticism of the game can be answered by "just avoid it when playing" or "just don't play". But that's not the point. It's okay to critique the game and give negative opinions on it as well as positive ones. I think the point made in this thread is a valid and constructive one.

Since when is complaining a bad thing?
