DJ-Jelly-Doughnut
Hey all. I'm new to the idea of editing videos, adding sound.. etc. Anyways. Looking for suggestions as to any programs that would meet these needs. I plan on doing some editing of clips to upload to YouTube. Bonus points for any programs that would also allow me to create overlays and such. Thanks!
Graven
I recommend Kdenlive, and for basic editing OpenShot. I've used them only on Linux but both are available for Windows too. Bob Loblaw_ and DJ-Jelly-Doughnut

Sombra
Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere are both pretty standard editing programs most would use, personally I prefer Vegas as I've been using it well over 10 years but both are great. I've heard Davinci Resolve is pretty good too, and it's free. DJ-Jelly-Doughnut 1 join the 11%
ghost of delete key
DaVinci gets my vote. Quite similar to Vega, maybe even more? Any way, it won't leave you wanting for functionality, and you can't beat the price. DarkDayz
Hey! The industry standard software for editing is Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer, however these are expensive. But there is a third programme you can use that's becoming more popular amongst professionals and has a lite version that is free. Called Davinci Resolve. Ablaut
Here you go https://www.movavi.com/support/how-to/how-to-overlay-videos.html . The movavi isn't that well known in video editing, but there's a good number of people that enjoy it, me included. It isn't as bloated as industry giants, and all the tools are there. And In addition to this, there's a nice online editor for something quick and the price isn't that absurd.
Mister Pink
I've been using Davinci Resolve as the full edition came with my Black Magic camera I purchased. Black Magic Design own Davinci Resolve so when you buy their cameras they usually throw in a code for the software included which is nice. The best software depends on what's comfortable for you to use. I'd recommend Davinci Resolve as there is a free version but the full version isn't the most expensive either. It's node based too, which I believe is an excellent way of doing colour-grading etc. 🅵🅴🅽🅸🆇 🅵🆄🅽🅺 🅵🅸🆅🅴
