Crusader Kings III

Had to make a thread on of the most slept-on game franchises ever.

Both critics and gamers are raving, which is rare these days, so you know it has to be good.

In case you don't know, Crusader Kings is a Grand Strategy / Roleplaying game hybrid, aka Incest Simulator.

The map spans from Iceland to Vietnam, over a timespan from 867-1453 you can play pretty much any Count, Duke, king or Emperor. A giant, immersive historical sandbox.

There are few games that can produce these hilarious, unique stories.

Perfect time for newcomers to jump in, since it's a very accessible game by Paradox standards. And while graphics is an traditionally an afterthought in these games, it looks clean and the upgraded characters visuals is a nice touch that benefits immersion.

Since it's Paradox, there will be an endless supply of dlc, but by the looks of it, the base game is far from barebones. And in terms of bugs/technical problems it seems to be a good release. So grab it!

I haven't had the chance to play it yet (busy with EU4 and TLOU2, lol) but a good friend did and he's liking it so far.

It has actual content compared to Paradox's latest base games and it's pretty good. His only complaint is that the UI is either too big, too small or there's always some wasted space.

Can't wait to give it a try honestly. It's not really cheap so I'll have to wait until the end of the month or so until I get some money to spend anyway.

a Hideo Kojima post.

I have tried CK2 but never got into it, I was too much of a brainlet for that. CK 3 is something I am having fun with though, probably this and EU4 are the two easiest Paradox  games to learn. It is also extremely well optimized which I didn't expect. Still continuing my tutorial run, managed to unite Ireland. AI seems very competent at battles and can carry you easily. I have complaints about the UI too, sometimes it gets too busy.

Quick question though. When I create men-at-arms regiment do they automatically mix in with my armies when I raise them? Also should I create duchy titles. What do I gain from them?

Can't answer question 1, since they weren't in CK II in this form.

As of question 2, in CK II they constantly granted extra prestige for the title holder and the overlord and raised your vassal limit (don't know if this in CKIII)

Most importantly, if you create a duchy, and there are any counts/rulers who are not a vassal, you have a casus belli against them since you are their de jure overlord. If you win, he would become your vassal, but retain the lordship over the country.

You might hold off if you are a duke or king with 1 duchy yourself  and want to keep the duchy or any counties in it,

since this can have an impact on succession and your vassals might dislike it if you have too many duchy titles.

If you are a king, it could be a good thing to create duchies and give them out, but make sure you don't create too powerful vassals.

Thanks for the tip, I have a total of 2 duchies right now and 2 earldoms so I think I will refrain from creating the duchy of Connacht. Also from what I get men-of-arms are automatically mixed into your army so no special steps there.
