vault28
I've loved New Austin since I set foot there in story mode, I set up my Moonshine business there and when I'm not traversing for collectables I like to set up my camp as close to Mexico as possible. I just hope one day they clean up Armadillo and open some of the shops there, it's the true west and it feels like home. EDIT: my character is a bandito for context. Commander S
North Scarlett Meadows - never too far from Emerald Station/Rhodes, or Saint Denis/Valentine beyond that. Camp normally gets set up in a field, or near a wood, where the only wildlife is the odd turkey - the land is nice and flat (easy to get from A to B in any direction), and on top of all that, most collector maps will spawn collectibles in that area, and not everywhere from the Grizzlies to 'practically in Mexico'... kcole4001 and DentureDynamite
Caffeination
I like to camp in southern West Elizabeth, so either Great Plains or Tall Trees, preferably close to the borders of these two counties, so in or near Beecher’s Hope. If the game refuses to give me good spots, I will be fine with eastern and central Hennigan’s Stead or Heartland Overflow. kcole4001

Kirsty
I usually find myself alternating between Tall Trees and Big Valley for the hunting opportunities, and then when I feel like a change from open spaces, I dally around the Lagras fast travel and Saint Denis. If I could buy an actual home though, it would be the blue house at Carmody Dell kcole4001, ALifeOfMisery and DentureDynamite

ZombieBatman
Heartlands for me, tho if we ever did get properties I'd buy one up in Strawberry cause both locations go with my characters "lore" although with properties an honourable mention to the caravans outside of Rhodes. kcole4001

happygrowls
great plains, moonshine shack is near manzanita, the plains are full of game for trading, and blackwater is just on the edge. perfect place. kcole4001, DentureDynamite and beachfan12
Surebrec
For the most part, I usually try to base myself around the wetlands just to the north of Emerald Ranch for the good hunting, which means I'm fairly close to the moonshine shack in that area also. If I can't set my camp up in that general area, then my second choice is either in the northern Big Valley area where Nazar's wagon is located or If there are no prime camp spots there, then I'll usually settle for Scarlett Meadows. The exception to that rule is when there's the trader daily where I have to donate 3 predator skins, in which case I set camp in the swamps so I can hunt alligators. Jason
St Denis/Bayou. It's where I usually camp my character as it has quick access to most the stuff you need for daily challenges, it's also the location of my shack. It's my favourite part of the map and I've always seen my character as someone who'd spend their days around St Denis more than any other place pretty much. I would prefer not to
Howdy to all Heartlands neighbors! Open landscape, 90% of the time you can sprint right to destination without worrying with cliffs, trees etc. The area around Emerald is an authentic herbarium, with everything we need for tonics and cooking. Lots of animals, including a fixed bison spawn point. Last but not the least, if Cripps ask us to hunt some animal, it's always an easy peasy like deers or alligators. Tampinha85
New Austin is awesome, it has that old west Frontier vibe and its also nostalgic to go there. Im hoping we get to see Mexico at some point, next gen perhaps? Oh how i miss spending the night in Torquemada and playing poker in Casa Madrugada. MisFit-138
As an Arizona resident, I spend a great deal of time in New Austin because it is honestly very, very familiar in certain places. My girl is constantly commenting on the similarities to real life places. "Is that supposed to be the road to Bumblebee?" or "is that based on Bloody Basin?" ect. Plus, as others have mentioned, just the classic western feel of sauntering down the thoroughfare of Tumbleweed right at sunset, all Eastwood AF

JumpingKentFlash
The area Heartlands/Scarlet Meadows/Cumberland Forest. Add a tad of Grizzlies West and the northern part of Roanoke Ridge. That’s that old Rockstar magic I was missing in the V map.
ghostsoap01
For my character, I'd say the West is home, so anything in West Elizabeth. As for where I'd set up a homestead, probably Calumet Ravine, for remoteness and the aesthetic beauty of the area. My favourite, fascinating places: - Stillwater Creek (mini bayou in New Austin, something about that is so fascinating) - Calumet Ravine (feels so different from anywhere in the Grizzlies, and the red rock looks like something you'd find in New Austin) - Cumberland Forest (I love birch tree forests) - Plainview (the one part of the desert where you can find trees) - Gaptooth Ridge (makes me think of Fallout New Vegas' Mojave: white sand and joshua trees) - Ringneck Creek (the small creek with a dense forest just north of Rhodes, it just looks so uniquely dense, and the brown dirt is unlike anything else in Scarlet Meadows) Who else has noticed that the look of the Western half of the map just feels so distinct from the East? You can tell the setting, just by the trees, the colour of the soil, the rocks, the type of flora etc. Meanwhile, the east feels closer to my real home. Roanoke Ridge's forests feel like a forest I'd find outside my home, the deciduous / leaf trees, the dark brown dirt, the foliage, it screams East; while as I mentioned before, the western part of the map feels really distinct from that. I like that R* thought of distinctions like that. Even the south has got the red dirt you'd commonly find in certain states down there. IamCourtney and Rev.
