Stunt races and stunt jumps, or just driving about throwing cars about off of mountains and such or using a BMX on skateboard parks.

Player created parkours tend to prove popular too. Be sure to host and load into story first to choose invite only sessions to reduce the risk of other players having an impact. :)

Since when has GTA online become a game for kids?

I know that many kids play it, but they're not supposed to. And what do you mean by "kids" anyway, like under 10s? They could do races, I suppose, and buy snacks from the store, but the options are really limited.

This is a bit weird.

It kinda always has. Kids that played the 3d gtas were always telling stories at the cafeteria.

But now, since it's littered with neon suits, laser guns, flying bikes, asshole tools, the game is built for the hyperactive little sh*ts.

I let them ride around in a bicycle in the countryside and rolling hills north of los santos, supervised of course. They also take out the deluxo and fly around in their own server without other players so it's mostly fine. I just wonder if there any jobs or activities that you can either do on your own or with other players that don't have guns/violence or ill intent. Also, are there quests where you can explore and collect items all over the map?

Rather flippant, don't you think in response to three separate posters? The OP hasn't established what he means by "kids" yet!

I know that I didn't let my kids play GTA online when they were little because I didn't want to expose them to too much too soon, although they're now at an age when they can do what they want (within reason).

It was very throwaway, sorry. But in my defense, I don't expect this thread to last so felt I had to be quick if history on this topic is any indicator is all. I mean no offense, just enjoying it as a giggle more.

I do agree we don't know what OP means by 'kids' but that also goes for others saying kids shouldn't be playing or that parents are bad for letting any that do play. He could mean 6 or 16 TBH and so many GTA fans started playing these games long before they were adults.

I can agree by my personal standards that below a certain age, probably best to wait. But the game can be muted and if a 6 year old is just crashing a car down a mountain, it is harmless fun. As another poster above said, supervision is key, which I fully agree with.

I just believe it's up to the parents to choose their limits of what they're kids play/watch - And for the parents to discuss any taboo content to help their kids understand it is just a game, although many kids get it already that it is as we don't see too many looking to kill each other after a game of Fortnite or whatnot. Plus I'm a believer that age ratings are more a guide to the content rather than a lawful thing where under 18 means they can't play. Sure, they can't buy this sort of game (same for movies). But a parent can and allow their kids to play/watch in the privacy of home too.

GTA is just entertainment after all and if an R Rated movie let's kids in with supervising adults and is all good, the same standard applies to this game in my view.

Besides, it's full of kiddie toys and crap, lol. Apologies for being so flippant though, just I get cut off usually when the topic pops up. :)

If you really must let your kids play GTA V, here's how:

Start an invite-only session, put your character in passive mode, and just give your kid a car from your garage to drive around with.

Or maybe join a race lobby, if your kid doesn't mind getting rammed of the track by other players.

Make sure they don't go to the military base (unless you own a hangar there) or police stations / merryweather base / gangs areas.

It is hard to play GTA Online freemode without getting shot at, even in passive mode. I still recommend letting them play a racing game instead.

Both of my boys love monster trucks. So mainly I’d let them mess around on The Crew 2 as I don’t have to worry about plowing down pedestrians and language I don’t want them knowing at their age. If it’s GTA. I let them drive the Liberator around the desert and crush cactus and jump the trains. No sound on just in case. Passive mode. Invite only. And always monitored as I don’t really want them doing anything other than the harmless fact that they are boys obsessed with big trucks. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d say the game is too toxic to let them play online with others as I can’t control what they will experience. I don’t want them seeing how dark this world can be just yet....

Spectre "2K"

i'd say just let them play around with the hot wheels on a stunt track, but honestly Forza (or almost any other racing game) can do the same thing and doesn't have any of the violence or swearing

Races if they must, voice and chat turned off, or better an invite only session.

Just slamming around cars on the street can be pretty fun, really, as long as there are no scumbags ranting at them.

The NPC comments aren't going to be appropriate, however.
