I just want to play this game like the previous GTA titles

So I played 100s of hours grinding Rooftop Rumble back on PS3 in my college days. Made enough money to fill 3 garages with whatever vehicles I wanted plus upgrades, own all clothes, masks and weapons, delivery vehicles and whatnot. Eventually got loads of cash dropped on me from a modder and used it to do the same with a second character. For a while you could upgrade to PS4 and transfer your account, but I never bought a PS4.

Back in the day, on GTA SA and VC (didn't play 4 much), I would just finish the story, then enter some cheats, and mess around modding vehicles and stuff and buying whatever I wanted in the game, and eventually mod the game when I got bored of that.

So now, if you wanted to do that in GTA Online, I think it would literally cost you tens of thousands of dollars in shark cards, or a damn lifetime of playing, just to get access to every bit of content in the game.

So now I have a PC that can run this game, and my question is pretty simple. Is it possible to bring all online content into story mode using mods (minus heists and other things that require several players)? I really don't care about playing with others online, I just want to make a vehicle collection, some cool outfits and check out all the new properties in the game.

There's a way of getting your online character into story mode but unless you use a mod called Character Swap, you won't be able to do anything with them because all activities are locked to the main 3 characters... like fairground rides, telescopes etc... Note: This only imports their appearance, not what they own.

Here's what you can't do...

You can't buy any clothes for your online character, you have to use a trainer and then save the outfits with the trainer.

You can't buy any online properties or garages, you have to use a mod to let you use them, like Single Player Apartments.

You can't buy most of the cars that are available in online, you have to spawn them with a trainer and then store them with either a vehicle persistence mod or one of the garage mods.

You can't buy any of the online businesses although there are mods that try to replicate them.

The online content is basically online only but you can access some of the online assets to use in story mode. I don't know if the online content is excluded from the story mode save system, meaning if you give yourself a car that is only available in online, it might not get saved inside a story mode save... I've never tried it so I can't say for sure. Use with caution would be my advice.

Is it possible to use the CEO offices in story mode and fill their garages as usual?

And if I use a mod to let me purchase apartments in story mode, I think you are saying they won't have a functional closet to save outfits?

Personally, do you think it's worth it, or do you think it's best for me to give up on GTA? I'm assuming I will still have to play as one of the story mode characters, just that they will have the appearance of my character, yet still have Michael's family, his voice, and stuff like that. Or is there a 4th character added on the selection wheel? It just seems to me like it would turn into a bit of a nonsensical mess.

If GTA 6 has the same disregard for single player, I'm done with GTA forever.

I think your questions about this are probably best answered in the mod descriptions to the mods I was referring to. I have never used these so if I tried to say how they worked, I could very well be wrong. Best to check out this mod https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/singleplayerapartment-with-offices-charackthe-imnotmental and the original that it evolved from https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/single-player-apartment-spg-net

If you read those descriptions, you can see I already made incorrect presumptions about what you can buy, so I don't want to give you more wrong information. It might be possible to do exactly what you want with the right combination of mods, I just don't know what they all are because I don't use other people's mods... I write my own.

What I would advise, is spend an hour or so and get the mods together that do what you want to do, install them and spend a couple of days getting used to how they work and see if they are right for you. You have the two links above for apartments and garages, character swap is here https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/character-swap There are a few vehicle persistence mods on that site as well.

The worst that can happen is that you try it and discover that it isn't what you want. But I think it's better to do that than take the things I say as completely reliable and risk missing out on something. There is going to be compromise and only you know if you can accept that. The 4th slot on the character wheel is for the online character, so no mods use that. You are going to have to use character swap each time you play, if you want to have access to the things the main characters can normally do and the money system.

Is it worth it? My view would be biased on that because I create mods, it's the only reason I bought the game back in 2015. So my game does things online doesn't do and it does things story mode doesn't normally do, so for me, that alone makes it worth it. The fact that the world is filled with animals, greater car variety and peds doing more things makes it worth it as well. I got bored with online after 5 months, I still play story mode after 5 years and I very rarely play as one of the main characters.

I mean you could also look into FiveM, which is an online version of the game that supports mods... maybe that will give you everything you need. It's not connected to GTA Online in any way, it's a separate thing entirely.
