What's wrong with the lobbies?

I think lobbies are slowly getting back to normal. I’ve had 3 or 4 full ones (20+ players). Ironically I got my trader wagon attacked on a session in which there was only me and some other dude. (He got blown to outer space courtesy of dynamite arrows lol)

I started off with only 2 others today, but when I got to Valentine there were no NPCs on the street...checked and there were 23 players.

Switches sessions later to avoid a crappy bootlegger mission...22 players.

 

RIP low population and a working game.  🙁

Fingers crossed they haven't re-broken the game then, lol.

 

The only way it's forgivable in my eyes, if they have messed it up again, is if tomorrow they patched in those lobbies they teased. That way everyone gets the game they want. The more passive role players can have a fully interactive world to immerse in and the freemode fighters can have their more broken/empty warzone they seem content with. 

 

Win for us/win for them/win for R* too as after all, more players means more potential gold sales really. Shoot, I'd even consider buying gold out of gratitude. (But for the lads account, I don't need any. Mwahahaha).

Weird as it can be to some players, I'm really digging the smaller lobbies. Game has been running smooth as butter for me, animals & legendarys are plentiful, random encounters are back .... 😼 why fix what don't seem broke?

Dam i confess i have sinned... i went back on my words and log in a session just to look for an instant... couldnt resist the temptation after playing sp😌 lol.

 

Nonetheless i have godd news, went into and have mantain in a 3 player session... guess it will be like last week... on the day interwined... on the night and weekends the merging system turned off.

Logged on 45 minutes ago, seven person lobby.

 

- 2 roadblock events

- 1 poacher camp (Windows Rock)

- 2 stranger rescue (Dakota River)

 

Enough collectibles to clear two dailies. Got me to 4297. About to hit 4300 GB tonight.

Was in one that was just me and a guy again, this morning.

 

Then it went up to 4 people, including me, then hours of me all alone.

It was kind of relaxing, though. I also seem to bump into Legendary animals a 

lot; got the legendary coyote/whatever as my six or so "stupid pelt head coat."

Damn you guys... I just woke up here, thought 'Damn, I sure am gonna miss those fun days I had in RDO this week... But come on dude, you didn't even plan to play RDO before you finish Tsushima and you also have ranked Mahjong to grind, finally you can do what you planned to do, isn't it okay? Let's just check with the gtaf thread...'

btw. small lobbies are SO great, while I was still looting the leftovers of the hideout near armadillo another poacher hideout had already popped up, calling for my attention. yes, they're SO great

Lobby size for me this morning has grown to 12 max and all is still good plenty of ncps side missions and animals not been disconnected in 4 hours play. Maybe R* are upping the level to see what can be achieved without too much loss of gaming quality.

The previous populated servers did not work properly. The game didn’t work as it was supposed to with full lobbies, at least now the game works for the most part.

 

There is always PvP for those that crave the versus, and you can also click on “Posse Up” from the main menu if you want to team up with others 👍

 

UPDATE: apparently the new update moments ago repopulated the lobbies. HOPEFULLY we can still enjoy the stranger missions, random encounters, legendary animals, etc.

Leftover Pizza

There are strange things happening in this game. Yesterday evening full lobbies and my camp went all over the place, except my usual spot. 

Today it's back to low pop and my camp is back on it's usual spot too. Maybe we got redirected to different servers with old settings last evening, so the normal ones could be updated for the tunables? Here is me hoping it is just that.

PS4 Pro,

Played 2 hours ago to do some dailies.
My lobby started at 5 and was at 9 when i logged out after about 1.5 hours of play.
After logging out i logged back in to a lobby of me and one other.
I then logged out again so i do not know if the lobby size would get larger.

All things i tried worked. At 9 there was lots of animals and random stuff spawning.
However the dirty horse and liquor bug is still present. Drinking Tennessee removed a bottle of Irish.
The one item bug may be fixed as i was able to retrieve one item, a treasure map, from my camp mailbox.

Hopefully bugs get fixed and R* comes to their senses and adds invite only and or small lobby options.
I want invite only the most. Small lobbies should be 6-8 max.

With so much content as random spawn stuff lobbies of 20+ is too large even if spawnings are not compromised by size.
Also the map may be large but there are areas where few if any play, or it seems, like west off Tall Trees
It is no fun riding to the smoke only to find some other player is already there.

The few sessions I joined last night started in the 15-20 player range but still had a proper level of spawning and no bugs that I personally encountered. However, it seems that most people who left never got replaced as there were only a handful (1-4) of people left after an hour or two. 

 

Personally, a decent player count AND a functional spawn system is the best case scenario, so here's hoping they can get it working.

Playing for two hours last night, max player session I had was seven (and briefly); otherwise it was 3-4 or less--even had my own solo session for a good 30-40 minutes!

Found my first tree treasure map in f***in MONTHS. Saw a legendary elk but was halfway through my second Long Distance delivery (which I almost NEVER do ANY), then bagged the Wakpa boar on the way back to camp. No posses or players taking pot shots at me, no dingleberries with "something to prove" because they saw a better dressed/higher rank player than them, just a fairly relaxing session. THIS is what I'd wanted when I bought RDR2 for RDO. 😺

Made rank 70 on the pass, passed 25k cash and 500 gold too, lol. Not that I care about the money/gold as it just builds up, I'm happy to play as a pauper, lol. But having a healthy reserve in a R* online game is no bad thing either. :)

Session today went from just me to 6 at the most.

Many random missions were completed, including my first successful grave robber mission near Strawberry! Got a collectible necklace looted from the grave.  👍

Got a couple of treasure maps (one was for rank, though) and found a random LA beaver:

Finding perch and getting the trader dailies done were a pain in the ass, ended up selling 50 goods then 8 goods to get 2 sales and the stupid distance done.

I was able to get the 'clear 4 hideouts in on game day" award finally, after having it pinned for ages. Are there anymore awards to get before we get back to 24 player sessions?

Small lobbies are perfect. Who's promoting full lobbies with janky spawns, do those people even play the same game.

Not the same game as you obviously. I'm not into hunting animals any more so their spawns don't bother me that much. I prefer other player interaction rather than animal or NPC.

You mean griefing or being griefed? Because that's literally the only thing that isn't present now that the lobbies aren't 20+ ppl. Co-op? You can still play with friends perfectly fine, there are no issues with inviting other people to your lobbies; same with being on-call for story missions, no issue with that. PvP? All modes work perfectly well.

 

What other 'player interactions' are you talking about? Making random strangers uncomfortable by randomly emoting at them and making them clumsily go through the buttons to try and quickly emote back at you while not accidentally shooting you?
