What's wrong with the lobbies?

For me, if I get the peace I've had recently with everything working, I love online. But if it's to go back to the farce it was, story mode is league's ahead.

 

Though story mode is absolutely quality for me anytime of course, I'll never not want to dip into that like I still do with most all of R*'s stories. :)

I think so. The "?" prompted, I got there and only saw regular wolves, no yellow paw icon. Killed them all but was still hearing growls, as if the legendary wolf was invisible or underground.

 

It has happened to more folks in here, exactly with this legendary wolf.

They just had to go and break the game again. I'm fine with populated lobbies if they work right. Now I'm having disconnects again with a ethernet connection, and it hasn't happened AT ALL in the small sessions we were enjoying. Three so far this morning! Congrats, Rockstar morons, ruining a good thing as expected. Well there are other games back to those.

I sincerely hope R* will revert/roll-back, or whatever, to small lobbies. it was the game at its best, hands down the most immersive month(s) I had with this game.

Played about two hours last night, monitoring the session population which held steady in the 12-15 range. No noticeable shortage of animals or NPCs, encountered a legendary beaver and a variety of other free roam stuff. Posse'd up with a rando and had several benign and one aggressive player encounters. No issues with camp relocation or mission spawning etc. No disconnections that were R*'s fault either.

 

Knock on wood it stays this way, and condolences to those who've preferred the last month or so, but this is the ideal RDO for me and I hope it sticks around.

I know is an unpopular opinion, but i missed the populated lobbies, still I got random events and animal spawns works fine in lobbies with 16 players (in my experience) , so maybe they improve the stability a little


Still, this whole low lobbies situation should take into account for R*, it made a good acceptance for some players and should be a game option

I had between 10 and 12 others in session, mostly the same all the way through, about 2 hours to get the dailies done, there were 3 random LAs, a hideout, a camp defend, and a wounded animal, though I saw no sign of random shine roadblocks at all (naturally, since that was one of the dailies).

It took ages to find a train again to shoot birds from, MacFarlane's came through as usual.

They need the kiddos back to buy their gold and of course are pretty aware of their preferences...screw the game!!! Monyyyyeee💵💵

Oh I got random events yesterday in the 2 1/2 hours I played.......2 of them and no revenuer roadblocks as I did go out of my way to get to as many of those locations as possible. Animal spawns are erratic again. One time there were lots of gators in the bayou, the next time I went there (in the same session) none. Kinda like having none. I can take a lot of shortcuts.

 

One of the main things that irks me, and probably not others, is every time a lobby switch occurs your gold cores and rings disappear. Then the issue with female horses becoming male is back again. A few times it took almost a minute to exit a stable. Guess I got lucky cuz I thought a disconnect was coming.

 

I didn't try any moonshine deliveries so I don't know about those but they were always a problem in big lobbies.

 

When trying to log into the game, disconnect, disconnect, disconnect. Didn't have 1 the entire time we had small lobbies. Trying to join the game in camp ... right area, no camp. All this was lobbies of 12-14 on PC. Basically, nothing is different then they were last time they had big lobbies. Not for me anyway. When the lobby size was around 10, things seemed to work right. That seems to be to pivot point.

You couldn't have been more wrong, which makes this post all the more pathetic. And that's twice now you've responded to the same rhetorical question smh...

 

 

To the current discussion: The small lobbies allowed me to enjoy the legendary animals and other content, even joined a crew meet up with 10 or so people...... but I haven't logged into the game for more than a few minutes in weeks. I might try and complete some of the legendary sample collections once they're all finally dripfed, but only if they manage to make them spawn again reliably in this trainwreck of an online service.

Sounds promising, but I have my doubts.

R* would rather have us bickering over the state of the game, and which one is the best, when clearly the real solution is not to revert one way or the other, but to give us choice, that way we can all get the most of this game we all payed 60$ for (or 90$ in my case cause of goddamned Quebec taxes).

 

Off-topic edit: seriously f*ck Quebec taxes. The only province where there is not only federal, but also provincial income tax. Roughly 40% income goes straight to the government.

I agree, an option for private lobbies is needed now and since the beginning RDO.
Lobby choices work so well in GTAO so i am at a lose of why not also for RDO.

Nova Scotia has both income taxes, too.

Here it's around 35% in total give or take (mostly take).

Well tonight i played 4 hours in a 12 players session and as expected no dynamic event spawn. First night in more than a month that no legendary animal spawn too... basically a wasteland again!!!

1 month of the old lobby system (low pop.), 1 disconnect & 2 black screens

1 day of the new lobby system (populated), 3 disconnects & 1 black screen

 

Pity, was having such a blast. I'll probably only log in now to do a daily to keep the streak going and not bother with anything else.

At night I'm getting between 4-7 player sessions, and everything is working. Earlier in the day I had around 14 players in my sessions, with no random encounters or moonshiners and a few disconnects. No disconnects at night in my smaller sessions!

 

Looks like playing at night is the way to go.

 

UPDATE: Nope, I merged back into populated sessions. Oh well, at least the lobbies won't be as big once players get bored of the Halloween event and pass.

All I knew was they were actively working on a fix (months ago) that was not at all simple to resolve. If you want to claim some kind of victory then go ahead.

But it's not actually fixed, lol.

 

Lobbies are still less than R* intend and events aren't spawning also like intended. They've literally just re-broken it again.

 

It's just tragic to see praise for this farce is all. All it does is enable R* to persist with such nonsense that compromises the game.

I think the small lobbies were just a side effect of a persistent process attempting to fix something gone wrong with session merging. I think it dates back all the way to the disastrous patch 1.21. If I recall correctly, Rockstar reversed the state back to the previous patch before that, and shortly afterwards released a new patch that started the small lobbies phenomenon.

Well who know what their intention is now. It's possible they have decided to compromise and have lobbies half the size they were originally.
