What's wrong with the lobbies?

Bumping into the other players sharing your server is becoming more of a positive "Hey there you are!" moment instead of a duck and run or shootout in the streets sort of incident.

Yeah, my daughter named her character a silly name because we thought you could see them over the character live, that was disappointing.

I have a secondary character I purposely haven't started any roles with, and funny enough, the lobby population is higher on average when playing on that account. However, the spawn rates are identical to my primary one that is usually in 1-4 player lobbies.

On PS4 yesterday I noticed the lobbies I was in were getting larger as time went on in the same lobby where I feel like previously as time went on in the same lobby the player count would slowly dwindle.

There is nothing wrong with the lobbies.
Some players (like myself) has lost the "god damn faith" in a game which was fun at the beginning, but today lacks content.. 

 

Chasing flowers and tarot cards in a silly outfit with plumes, isn't what I call a Wild west themed game...

As long we can't buy our own properties and start cattle breeding and farming, then I may take up my gaming of RDR again, but for now i put it on hold...
It isn't fun anymore...

Had a couple of 90 minute(ish) sessions today and I'm not seeing any difference so far.

Only logged in this morning (10/19/2020) to do a few easy dailies and log off--maybe go see Harriet to see if I deserve a nap.

 

First lobby had 10 players, second had 11 and the third had 11.

 

Gonna do my few dailies and move on before someone gets trigger happy...

 

UPDATE: While I was posting this, I heard gunfire. My camp was being raided by NPCs. Took care of them and accidentally killed a horse. Guess I won't be going to see Harriet. Now 12 people in the lobby.

13-14 players in the lobby most of the time (PS4). Yep, they're increasing the count, it seems.

 

And off course, free roam toxicity showing up again. I had a posse leader killing me while I was near my camp in Great Plains (partly my fault, I forgot I wasn't in defensive), then running to Blackwater with his posse mates to see if I engage. I don't fall for these tricks anymore, boys, too much hair over my balls.......:sarcasm:

Said it before and I'll say it again, you know the game is in a sorry state when "broken" offers a better experience than "fixed". Either that, or R* have seriously lost the plot. Probably a bit of both.

Leftover Pizza

10 players in the lobby and a Trader sale mission blackscreens. Great going, Rockstar. 

 

 

Relogged, 12 players in the lobby. Restarted the sale mission and had a shoot out to do at delivery point. Right after I got them all killed, all corpses despawned immediately. 

One of the other disadvantages of higher pop lobbies. Nothing to loot after finishing a bootlegger mission/hideout (if they even spawn).

 

f*ck this game, until we get low pop lobbies again.

Yeah. I'm glad I had a fun run with the game but knowing it could be awesome but refuses to grow that potential is truly disappointing to see.

 

But folks need their 'interactions' 🤣😉😢

I haven't played in a week... full lobby, solo lobby, small lobby - makes no difference to me - the game is just flat out boring, beautiful - but boring.

Story mode, even at end-game, is just so much better - why even bother?

Honestly, at this point, I agree. The legendary animals just aren't cutting it.

Yeah that's the main draw for me as well. It lacks the depth of SP, but the upside is you play as whoever you want, and it feels more personal that way.

Lobbies are back to double figures again - and I've not seen a hint of a legendary animal since the numbers started creeping up again.  The animal spawns are still on,  but there seems to be less than there were before.  I might just be being unlucky though.

Today:

 

-Animal spawns: same as before. Didn't notice a drop.

-Random events: gone, minus moonshiner and a hideout.

-Legendaries: saw no one, although I didn't look actively for any of them. I'll try Onyx wolf this night.

I'm fixing to start my 4th story playthrough. I love the story and find myself missing the characters after a while. 😏

No, the animals are a % of what they were before. Same old s**t.

While ignoring the large majority that doesn't need the interaction. Makes no sense businesswise. Anyone know of any business that was successful by ignoring the majority of its customers?

I just don't understand why they just don't turn on the option for invite only lobbies. I'm firmly convinced these developers are not particularly bright and they sure don't know what they're doing.

 

Remember when they announced that major update that included "many of the most requested features"? Well, the #1 request was for invite only/private lobbies. Keep on ignoring the majority of your players R*. That player base will eventually dwindle and at this point I'm hoping this game will fail.

I wonder if small lobbies were just to make their update work, IE Legendary Animals spawning.  And now that the LA drip feed is pretty much over, R* is back to business as usual because the players will move on and forget about it with the next update

If that is why they did it then they are purposely f***ing the game play up again which is really, really telling the players to go get f***ed (that would be a lot more fun than playing this game though).

When I logged in with my alt this evening I was greeted with the message that Cripps packed up my camp. Lobby had about 12-14 players.

Before logging out I did a Harriet mission, then fast travelled and was clearly soft lobby changed as my shack and camp were flashing on minimap. Lobby size 14.

Nothing was spawning.

I play on PS4

 

It looks like soft lobby changes are back and lobby size is about 14ish on PS4.

 

Even before that, after the latest patch, even small lobbies of 4 didn't have random events or Legendary Animals spawning. About 7/10 lobbies were like that, rest worked. So it's back down to host connection or something? Before that patch in the small lobbies everything was spawning (random events, LAs).
