What's wrong with the lobbies?

If it's true tgat lobbies remain small still, makes me really wonder why we're downloading 3gb+ of crap for, lol.

 

Games huge as it is. 🤣

Played for over 2 1/2 hours, I had 2 others at first, then 4, then I was alone.

I had missions all over the place, though medium animals were scarce at first, lots of deer, no rabbits, raccoons, etc.

Eventually critters filed out the landscape.

I even got the posse daily done thanks to the two fellows who started up a posse to get the hunt done. I was on the defender's side, never done that before.

No one came around looking...there were only two of 'em anyway, there was three of us.

i played rdr2o after finishing update download and i found myself in a small lobby, if one of the thngs the update fixed was lobby size issues, it didn't work (i maybe wrong and was lucky to get into 2 player lobby).😟

Loaded back into main; this time about 8-9 with 3-4 posse leaders. Time for experimentation: went into the Change Appearance and backed right on out. It's been 20 min of solo lobby atm I am typing this.

 

There isn't any lobby merging going on (still); just an influx of people checking out the update. 

I think many of those extra players are in posses. Next time you get a larger lobby with posses, see how many are in each posse. I had 13 earlier but 7 were in 2 posses. When the posses left, the number of players dropped and stayed below 5 the rest of the time I was on.

Had 20+ player lobbies for an hour or so this afternoon, after the update, but I've been on for over 3 hours tonight and never had more that 5 players, including myself, in any lobby I've been in.

 

Bagged another Onyx Wolf and Chalk Horn Ram too, so LA spawns don't seem to have been affected.

Yup. I've had 5 or less on PS4 and PC.

Xbox patches the game differently from other platforms. Other platforms merely add update data. Xbox deletes the entire plugin file and gives you a new one.

Hmm... weird, only 2 people besides me in the lobby this morning, except they're all high levels. Like, waaaay high level, in the 500s and beyond.

Same here; most I had was 8 (very briefly) then it dropped to 2 or 3 other players.

 

Still quite a lot of random encounters, treasure maps, animals, ambient NPC population, etc.

I had the same thoughts, lol. 

 

But have seen folk mention they fixed the bug where people would lose progress in another thread.

 

Of the 2, I guess it was fair to fix that issue asap. But yeah, over 3gb for that is mad.

Cool beans. Was a biggie compared I felt and could have killed the game outright had it grown too. Glad we can play knowing it won't be compromised like that later on. :)

Would be nice, though if so they must have hidden the files well. Not easy for R* to hide much in these games these days. 🤣

@Fun 2 noted a little while ago that the PC (Steam/R*SC) simply patches the existing files on your PC, rather than you having to re-download the whole pre-patched files again (PS4/XBox One).

 

That's why PC patches are typically smaller (this last PC update was ~194 MB via Steam); but they're also compressed, which saves some DL filesize.

 

That said, any brand-new content will need to be downloaded on the PC too.

Ofcourse they didn't, they would never admit such a massive flaw existed in their game.

But I can confirm myself it's fixed.

Who knows what else is waiting for us in the future, though?

So you got all your progress back including everything you owned before? I assume we're talking about the same thing.

I don't think anyone ever lost anything unless they asked support to reset their account.

But for me I only had the mission stuck on the map, it's gone now.

Ok thx! I can start playing again. Not sure if it affected PC but I wasn't going to take the chance. I'm perilously close to that 500 level. lol

game has been on fire since these low player servers are a thing, I now come across a legendary animal when selling trader goods. it's all good, should stay like this
