Mister Pink
No better director than Ridley Scott to this... Two androids are tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet; as the human colony threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task. Mister Pink
Anyone watch this? I watched the first episode. It's pretty good and what you would expect from HBO and Ridley Scott. I think it's a must-see for anyone interested in futurism, sci-fi, AI, space-ex and religionism. Spoiler alert (for those that don't care it's an action scene with violence akin to something you'd see in a videogame but it will spoil some of the first episode story for you). It starts off incredibly, but the writing gets gradually worse with the last episode resulting in a complete mess. Unfortunately, it's another creation of the Sci-fi genre incapable of making an overly-ambitious story work. Acting, cinematography and production are top-notch all the way, though. I'll try not to be dissuaded by your experience of the ending. I read without spoilers that the last episode is questionable. I can only hope that I might be in the demographic of people that enjoyed it? Assuming there are some people that liked it. At least the quality of production is consistent. I find the sci-fi genre suffers from the same thing you mention a lot. I was late to enjoy sci-fi. I didn't like it growing up. I much preferred (and still do) stories based on reality, usually crime and drama. But sci-fi captures my imagination and philosophical side of what could be. But sometimes grandiose concepts hijack the opportunity for great interpersonal stories that can be found in good drama.
