I agree with you. But there are games that attract attention for other reasons. And I don't think about the real world in those cases.

I skipped BO3 for reasons but I love BO4 I only play zombies so the customization was a great addition plus the remade Nuketown and Five was nice nostalgia to 1&2. Word on the street is Tranzit is being remade and I’d love that :catloaf:

Anyone else enjoying the beta?  I am...

The interface changes are nice.  Finally a game that doesn't use tiny on screen text.  Back to a more playschool like presentation.

audio bugs are annoying me in the beta atm, other than that it looks decent, might get it on sale.

Yeah, I tried a few matches last night. Got my ass kicked. The first and second match I was like last of the whole bunch. Then I started camping on the Miami map and got a decent score. Weapons feel pretty good. Other than that I'm not going to put too much effort in it since I mostly play third person games at the moment and it's hard to switch to FPS mode. But what I saw I liked it.

So I'm trying to "git gud" at playing a Call of Duty game in multiplayer by trying out the Cold War Alpha but given it's my first COD I have yet to full grasp/understand the strategies.

I understand the principals, the run and gun players and the campers who like to pick a spot/snipe, fair enough, my main issue seems to be getting guns set to work with me and my controller and I have tried a number of different

guns but I always seem to come last in the match which I am okay with but I want to try and improve myself so I am not just being the carry player.

From what I see the main approach seems to be players pop L1 and aim shoot with R2 very rapidly which I cannot seem to do and have to resort to just shooting with R2 which sometimes gets a kill but usually I am dead before

I can even cause any major damage which is not much help in the team based games like Control/Domination but running around picking up tags in Kill Confirmed I can do.

Any obvious advice I should be thinking about, I'm practicing by playing more and I have pre-ordered the game on the basis I very much like what I have seen in the beta and hoping I can get better at killing soon!

Gunsmith is so pog.

also it's incredible just how lost most players are on Satellite. Feels like I'm playing against bots even when I'm supposed to be playing against the best thanks to sbmm.

Ha!  I hear ya.

My CoD history has more to do with me mocking the game while never playing it.  Aside from a short time with a previous BlackOps release my CoD MP has been recent...I mean MW recent.

I've been playing the beta since it opened for Xbox and put the hours in.  I felt like a god!

Satellite is like the smallest map even.  At least it feels like it.

That is mental. By the time the yearly cycle is over, I dread to think the size of this game.

I am getting this on Xbox so the PC stats (excluding the size) don't concern me, but they seem like some meaty PC specs for higher end visuals.

Do you guys think this game will be worth it? I'm intending on game sharing it. I can't be bothered spending another dime on COD games, to be honest. I'm most looking forward to zombies.

I'm still in two minds. I haven't even got Modern Warfare installed anymore, and gave up on the MP about 6 weeks after it came out. The SP was fantastic though, but not worth the cost of buying the game new. The only saving grace from the online options to come from MW was Warzone, something I still play fairly regularly with friends, and even that is a stand alone experience now.

The fact Cold War doesn't have a new Battle Royale mode and they are just integrating elements into Warzone, has also made me less eager to buy it. Warzone is free, and it will be getting free updates from Cold War, I don't play zombies and the MP will last about a month before everyone jumps back on Warzone again, so I would be buying it for the SP. is that worth £55/£60? I don't think so.

But that's just me. It would be the first time I haven't bought a brand new COD since MW2.

I have no interest in battle royale, Fortnite, Warzone, or those kind of games, so the fact that they didn't implement it in Cold War doesn't bother me. I'm curious about the SP and am really looking forward to the zombies. I hope it captures the feel of BO2 zombies, which I really enjoyed. I also agree with you on MW remastered (unless you're referring to the original MW). It was good at first, but then it died down for me real quick, especially when they ruined it with all the toxic crate drops and microtransations. Disgusting.

The last good COD, in my opinion, was BO2. After that, the games just got worse, especially with all the heavy focus on microtransactions. I'm really furious that they didn't release multiplayer for MW2 remastered. They didn't even bother adding Spec Ops. What kind of bullsh*t is that? It's my favourite COD.

The top 3 CODs for me are (in order):

MW2

MW3

BO2

Whilst I am a NOOB in the Call of Duty series as I understand it from others I have played with and some community comments they did not want to re-release MW2 with the online portion because Activision though it would discourage players from the current games Modern Warfare and it's free download Warzone equivalent but I do agree it was a waste to re-release a slimmed down version of the game.

I am not gonna be a midnight player for the new game on Friday but I did think they called it right to get the download out early so everyone has it installed ready to play as mine has been on the console since last Friday meaning when I wake up on the 13th I can just go play.

That's exactly the reason why. I am well aware. But for some reason, they had no issue releasing the online portion of MW Remastered. They even bundled it with that abomination Infinite Warfare. Maybe it's because they saw that MW Remastered proved to be way more successful and popular than Infinite Warfare. People at one point were selling the game after downloading MW Remastered on their console. The devs saw this and got mad, so they made it so that the Infinite Warfare disc must be inside the console in order to boot up MW Remastered. lol Even they know that the older CODs are more preferred than the new CODs.

Anyway, we'll see if Cold War will live up to the hype. I've seen some gameplay and it doesn't look like anything to write home about, to be honest. Many have said that the game is really good, but some have criticized it. If the multiplayer is crap, then I hope zombies is good enough to keep me playing.

So...  Hear me out on this one.

You all have seen the old school Activision (Atari 2600) games that are playable in Cold War?

If you grew up with Atari2600 the n you know that the Activision games were the good ones and the ones published by Atari were the low grade ones.

I have the 3 Atari2600 packs for Xbox.  Now I just need Cold War to let me just play the old (Atari2600) Activision games so that I can play 5he nonsh*tty games from 1982.

Well now that's been a while since the game came out, have to say it's not that bad.

Campaign's story is decent with few interesting moments and actual puzzles to solve, never in my life I thought Call Of Duty would make me get a piece of paper, use my brain and try to crack a code.

Choices we are given in the game don't really matter that much, and it comes down to two endings compared to a bunch of choices we had in Black Ops II where even mid game aspects of the story would change. Also the safehouse returned from Black Ops III but it lacked a lot, III had a database of events and history of CIA, Mk Ultra, options to choose your loadout, clothing of the character etc.

Cold War let's you pick a name, your sex, agency, skin color but for what? We never see ourselves in the game, we don't speak so what was the point, we just have another mute.

Missions is what really made me replay the campaign 3 times, the spy like sneaking in the KGB or East Berlin, collecting optional evidence and putting it together. And the best part is that it's not always shooting and explosions.

Multiplayer... like everyone says it's lacking in content, maps, game modes. Other than that it's our typical Call Of Duty online experience we got for years (apart from those 3 advanced movement games, they played differently).

One thing that I wish they brought back was the detailed customization of the characters like they did in Advanced Warfare, where everything was customizable, gloves, shoes, helmets and more.

Prestige no longer requires starting over like in previous games, streaks are score based so even if you get shot it still accumulates though the more kills you chain it gives you the streaks faster.

Zombies I don't dig, never did so I have no say in how it is, but from two matches I played it seems nothing changed here.

So all my friends are off over Xmas, due to lockdown's and the like, and for the first time in years they've all jumped back online. The last time my entire group of friends played together consistently was COD Ghosts.

We've been playing Rebirth Island (Alcatraz from Black Ops 4) and it's been a blast.

Did anyone play Alcatraz on Black Ops 4's Blackout game mode?

And if so, have you tried the updated Rebirth Island?

It's honestly so much fun.

I am so glad this game is nothing like MW19. I’ve not had this much fun on COD multiplayer since Black Ops 2! Raid is such a great addition to the game, and Pines is actually a lot better than I thought it would be. It takes me forever to level up even with 2XP but I am really enjoying it. I want to see more underrated maps be reintroduced like Summit and Villa from BO1.

Zombies is really great too, although I don’t really care for it much. As for the campaign I haven’t started it yet.

I started the campaign yesterday, and it looks like sh*t. Some of the textures are f*cking awful and it looks so... muddy.

I didn't install the gigantic "4k texture pack" or whatever they call it, so I downloaded that, replayed the same mission, still looks awful. The cutscenes are incredible, but the gameplay itself looks like something from the Xbox 360.

If you ever played Sniper Ghost Warrior or another similar title, it looks like that.

I am far from a graphics snob, but the campaign in MW looked so crisp, this seems like a huge step backwards.

Story is so far so good, and by that I mean it's exactly what you'd expect from a COD campaign.

One interesting thing, obviously this game is an FPS title, so you don't actually know what your character looks like, I used Nvidia Ansel to go into photo mode, and when you pan around your character just... isn't there. All the other characters are, yours is just invisible 👾

They decided to re-use Black Ops 4's engine for some reason. That's why all the CW operators also look slightly different in Warzone lol

Well I've been playing a bit of Cold War since they released the 'Violet Anime' gun pack skin and have to say I'm getting better and I like the new smaller maps for the 3v3 game mode.

Very much more evenly based for a new player like myself learning online Call of Duty for first time, I've now finally got the hang of using the scopes on weapons and I had my first match yesterday where I actually had more kills

than deaths on Satellite which was a good feeling.

Stitch seems a really great character but I cannot make up my mind if I want to go down the route of Season Pass to acquire him as 100 tiers of rewards seems a lot of effort to put in and I don't really have the time to dedicate

to a long grind, I have a friend who farmed the pass for a week or so to get to Tier 100 and he's feeling the effects of it and I don't particular want that experience.

Do characters from Seasons ever become available again through future game updates or is this how it always is for Call of Duty?

I seriously think that within the next 2-3 years, I'll stop playing CoD. I don't even play much of it and rather play singleplayer games instead

Proud of ya man.

I seem to be the mirror.  Out of nowhere I started to play CoD after shunning it since its birth and only playing single player games.

So in-between my marathon lockdown single player sessions with other games, I've still been playing a sh*t tonne of Rebirth Island with friends.

Over the weekend me and my friend finally cracked over 100 wins. Which I'm happy with, as it's still Battle Royale and some people just... don't win. Period.

We've really got our tactics down for this. The normal mode in Verdansk is not my cup of tea, it's too big and too slow. Only have 11 wins on the normal Battle Royale. Rebirth island is the right pacing.

They really f*cked up the Rebirth Island game mode. Classic COD. Take something that's good, and take a sh*t on it.

They changed the player count from 40/44 to 100. ONE HUNDRED.

Now, this might not be a bad thing if they weren't so lazy, but rather than add additional loot chests, shops and ammo crates, they simply changed the player count. Nothing else. Nitto. Nada. So if you die at any point (which is basically inevitable now) when you respawn, there's no weapons, no guns, no loot. It's basically become who can camp hardest and kill the people that land in with a pistol (the default weapon you get upon respawn)

And because the map is so much smaller, you can't even land in, because every single location contains people who have guns. It's mental and not in a good way. I checked twitter, and everybody is complaining. COD developers never ever admit a fault though, so I know they will ignore the complaints and keep if for the next 2 weeks when the next playlist update comes.

This does not sound a good development at all but just to clarify I presume this is a Warzone game mode rather than Cold War as have not played this one but I mostly focus on Cold War side of the game.

Fireteam in Cold War is going a similar route as my online multiplayer was mostly playing Fireteam but it is also turning into a game of 'camp' and who has the best spots near to the Dirty Bombs to collect the free uranium dropped from

the other players and gain the free points for their team because they've got the best point/equipment on the map, I think I have finally convinced myself to stay out of multiplayer at least on double events.

You know the online aspect of the game is slowly going downhill when you spend more time solo with the zombies than actual multiplayer.

Which leads me onto something I would like to see change for the future games (not that I plan to buy one as was only interested in Cold War| but the dual 'unlock' system for camo challenges with multiplayer and zombies I think should be reviewed so that rather than having to do each gun twice the unlock should be set for the whole game so if you do the achievement in zombies you also get it for multiplayer as there are many guns (snipers looking at you) it's a very long process to level up and then do all the camo achievements.
