Red Dead Redemption 2 Time Progression

Recommended Posts

DxNxtDisturb

Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in 1899, The first mass produced bicycle was in 1868. Why do we not have bikes? they could be pricy, slightly faster than a mid priced horse, and terrible off road. Also, I feel that time should progress in the game. maybe every 1 real life year is 2 1/2 years in game. This will allow for the Model T vehicle which was mass produced in 1908 to become something in game soon, could be slightly faster than a race horse. this will bring more players and allow for more events such as racing vehicles or bikes.

Also i predict if they did this and kept red dead alive for 6 or so more years until gta 6 is released and they did the 1 real year = 2.5 years in red dead, that will put this game around a time period just before la noire. which makes it perfect for there next game to be la noire 2.

If you want bikes, go for GTA.

You kinda answered your own question in your arguments...

No it wasn't. Mass produced bicycles were 1890s onwards

True. They were very expensive and always breaking mechanically.

Absolutely. In open country, there were no roads, just dirt tracks. For a long time, wheels were far inferior to legs.

Completely wrong. Horses were faster in any terrain. Bicycles needed smooth roads and would still be left behind by a 'mid priced horse'.

i certainly want to see bikes and cars. i know many people dont want cars. but to them i would say just dont get one. it would be so cool to drive a car from that time period. plus im so sick of those stupid horses bucking me at the sight of a predator. or hitting a tree. and not to mention their annoying screams. if i could have a car i would never ride a horse again.

I can imagine him robbing a bank and escaping on this bad boy.

Just because bicycles existed at the time that doesn't mean cowboys rode around on them in the wild west countryside. Completely impractical anywhere but on well paved roads. There's a reason why IRL they rode horses not bicycles. Same with cars, just because they started to become popular in cities at that time it doesn't mean people were driving them around in the wilderness/rough country terrain. Horses remained number one in that setting for a long time, there's still situations now where they're more practical than bicycles or cars.

You are absolutely right.

A few years ago my village was cut off by snow. The roads were too slippery for cars so we had to rely on horses and cart to get supplies in...this was in 2018!

This is why the wheel does not exist in nature. The wheel is fine and fast but wheels need roads, or rail roads. In the rough tough wild west countryside untamed by man, wheels are useless and the horse is still king right up to this day.
