[RE:LCS] HD Textures Port

Textures from ''[III] Xbox Version HD'' ported to ''Re: Liberty City Stories'':

(Since Xbox Mod don't remade all textures of the game (about 80% only) and LCS itself brings some new textures that don't exist in GTA III, I decided to take the missing textures from the mobile release. So most os the textures of this mod comes from Xbox Mod and a few come from the mobile version.)

No, they aren't a perfect remake 1:1 that look exactly like the original textures, but they don't look bad and it's a good option for anyone that prefer HD textures instead of the original blurry ones.
It replaces 998 .txd files and cover about 95% of the game. (there's some textures that both Xbox Mod and Mobile Version don't remake).

 

Bonus:

Also replaces the ''radioactive water'' from the mod.

How to install:

Just throw the files at game root folder.

 

Attention:
This mod is made for the version ''Beta 5.0 Build 816'' and I can't guarantee that will work with newer releases of the game.

Umm, xbox map textures + xbox like character skins + xbox like vehicle models, it would be truly remaster comparing to lcs mobile.

Doesn't work for me, when I install it in the modfolder the gameworld turns very low LOD and a lot of textures are invisible.

Try install Open Limit Adjuster. OLA is the only mod that I installed beside modloader. it works fine to me.

After 3 hours trying, I finally managed a way to mass convert the .pvr textures to .png format.
Just had to follow the instructions given by ''Acewell'' here https://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?t=11807&start=75#p112109

They aren't a perfect 1:1 recreation of the originals, but I prefer them instead of blurry textures.
Beside that, the textures from mobile aren't bad as people say.

 

Still not sure if I will finish this. But the .png from Xbox Mod and Mobile are provided here, all it's needed is open the .txd files and replace the textures, wich is a easy thing that anyone can do, just need patience and will.

No idea why it's not working for you.
All I did was:


1 - install the game (keep in mind that it's a standalone game, and don't need to install over vice city)
2 - Install Vice City Project2DFX (to increase the draw distance), opened the III.VC.SA.LimitAdjuster.ini and put a ''#'' before ''PtrNode'' and ''EntryInfoNode'' like this:


[VCLIMITS]
#PtrNode = 300000
#EntryInfoNode = 3200


Then placed the modloader at game folder, than put the textures inside.
Keep in mind that the game already comes with a asi loader and cleo don't work with the game (at least cleo most recent version).
Try to reinstall the game and the mod the way I did. It might work for you.

TheYoshiPunch just released 300+ hd .txd files, this increased my will to finish this mod since now only 400-500 .txd are left to do.
Maybe I finish the mod while listening a podcast or so.

Version 0.2 released!


Changelog:
Add mobile textures into the .txd' s (since Xobx Mod din't remade all textures)
Add hundreds of .txd made by ''TheYoshiPunch''.

 

Some .txd have 100% of its textures in HD but some of them have only 80% or 90% since neith xbox mod and mobile version remade all textures.

Now only 554 .txd files are left to do and the mod cover about 55% of the game.

 

Not sure if I will finish this, but once again, both .png's pack from xbox mod and mobile are provided here, so anyone can finish this mod.

Version 0.3 released!

 

Changelog:

Now changes 903 .txd files. Only 96 .txd are left to do, however they are the bigger .txd so will take a while to complete them.
The mod now cover about 70% of the game.

The textures pack is now complete and covers at least 95% of the game.
I don't plan to make any further updates.

Hey Clara, if you can create new model this "police car blue" and "enforcer blue" with Xbox Version HD? like you did this car police black and enforcer black with Xbox Version HD, i have 2 pictures for show you, this 2 cars is from gta 3 beta.

Only Textures, but looking at what the guy here has done, he's used the Mobile versions, which is fine I guess, he probably saw the textures were 512x and thus were better than the 256x I provide even though most of the mobile stuff is bad upscales and ill fitting replacements but as he said, don't like them, don't use them.

I'm by the end of the missions in Stauton Island and so far I've only found one bug in your pack, take a look:

The texture representing the strips on the ground are corrupted somehow. It looks like this in the original textures:

The file that contains this texture is called SRV_CRPRK.TXD

I only used textures from mobile to replace textures that Xbox Mod don't replace or have. It's a really small amount, I would say that less than 10% of the mod contain textures from mobile.
But yes, Xbox Mod itself contains some textures from mobile, but, the major part is created from zero, once that Xbox Mod was in development even before the mobile release.

I'm a girl. Would be really weird a guy being named ''Clara'', can't imagine that exist a country where they give this name to man.
The vehicles textures aren't mounted by me, they are mounted by ''TheYoshiPunch'', and I agree, the xbox textures are a better fit. Not sure if he used the textures from mobile or xbox, he said it used textures from xbox, psp and mobile.

 

Instead of only judge the textures by the screenshots I think people should give a shot. After I saw the result I can't even think in play the game without those textures.
Its not look exactly like the original, but that dosen't mean that it's bad, it's just different. and since most of us don't ever played the game before, most people wouldn't been even able to say ''oh, this building facade, it looks different from the original''. I doubt that someone out there remember exaclty how every surface of the game loooks like.

But yes, if someone only wants to play with textures that looks exactly like the original, I think that ESRGAN Upscale is the only option then.

I've discovered through trial and error. There are 1002 files inside my textures folder, so first I take out half of them and see if the bug disappears. If it doesnt, then I take out half of the reaming ones and so on. I've found it by the 4th or 5th try, the name of the file also tells a lot.

@Clara Do you have a list of txd/textures not covered by your pack?

 

Do you know the mod "Natural HD Textures"? It would be a good mix for this pack, maybe it has some of the missing textures or better versions of the mobile textures.

No. The main and most noticeable surfaces such as buildings and terrain textures are all replaced. Just minor textures are missing, like some props and objects. For example, the white lines at carpark you showed before, they aren't in HD.

The fastest way would be use ESRGAN to upscale them (I won't).

It changes only 300 textures and part of them are just bad AI upscales.

 

Also, this mod is finished, I don't really want to make any more changes to it, but as I said, anyone can feel free to take this mod and release an improved version of it.

That's exactly why I asked, I'm willing to upscale the remaining ones.

 

About the gamma difference, do you know how to change the gamma of all the textures at once?

You will have to open the .txd one by one, see if there's missing textures inside and then apply esrgan.

If you're going to be upscaling then don't be lazy about it, there are multiple models to use, each texture can scale better under different ones so find which one works best and then edit them together. Too many people try and use AI scaling as a quick rush job to get meager results.

@Clara I thought you could adjust the gamma for a whole txd (without having to extract the images within). Jesus, that's a lot more work than I imagined.

There was an unchanged texture that was annoying me because it looked pretty bad next to the HD texture right beside it. It is in Shoreside Island. I decided to upscale the texture and to mess with gama/saturation so the textures looked better togheter.

 

Before:

It's not perfect, but it looks much better IMO.

 

I've also upscaled the white stripe texture in the car parking lot TXD you fixed for me. For those interested, I've uploaded both TXDs:

@Clara I've found one more bug (I think it's the last one xD).

 

The safety net texture is wrong, without any transparency

The bugged thexture is called "safetyNet_orange_izzy" and is present in 10 TXDs:

 

comhospital
CSINTC1
CSINTC2
CSINTCH
FERRYPORT
IZ_FLOPHOUSE
IZ_LOVCON
IZ_VIN
NEWBRIDGE
ORANGEFENCE

 

Some of these TXDs have the original intact texture (32x32 resolution) and others have the broken HD texture (128x128).

 

I decided to upscae it myself:

I just used ESRGAN's "4x_FArtDIV3_Base" model since it produced the best result between it, "4x_Manga109Attempt" and "4x_NMKD-Superscale-Artisoftject_210000_G".

 

I'm going to fix the listed TXDs with the upscaled texture and upload them here in a moment.
