Just hit the Epilogue

Recommended Posts

Taterman

I finished chapter 6 tonight and ended off when I just arrived at Pronghorn Ranch. Without spoilers, anyone have tips for getting started? I noticed a new horse, lack of guns, and Blackwater is open now but haven't even walked around yet.

Thanks peeps.

Just play on and do the missions for now. Don't worry about wandering around.

Thanks guys. I appreciate you not giving anything away, but I think I catch your drift too.  👍

So you say you did not get spoiled anything so far? Lucky you!

Yep! So far so good. I just did the first epilogue 1 mission tonight.

Another question: During the final chapter 6 mission, I had to pick between helping John get to Abigail or going back for the treasure.

I picked to go back for the treasure, and had the knife fight with Micah (intense!). It seemed like Arthur died but not entirely sure. What happens if I would have picked to help John instead? Did I make the wrong choice?

You run with John but eventually Arthur sacrifices and lets John escape alone. Then Micah gets to you. And Arthur is dead. Someone you would meet later will say that they buried Arthur. The way he dies depends on honor level. Low honor will result in Micah shooting Arthur in the head or stabbing him. High honor level results in Arthur dying from injuries and tuberculosis. You can find his grave later (so as other fallen gang members). In fact, you need to visit them all if you aim for the 100% completion.

Thanks a bunch, I appreciate that.

I did have good honor when I got in the knife fight with Micah so the fight took a while. I was pretty sure Arthur died (going by the cut-scene that followed) but wasn't 100% sure. I feel so used (by Dutch)!

To be honest, if anyone has played RDR first, whole situation is predictable.

Another question for you guys:  I've done the first few Pronghorn ranch mission and picked up the mail and the gift from Abigail. I got all of Arthur's guns now, but where did they come from? I assume the mail but there was only one box (with the shirt).

Also, where can I access clothes and outfits in Pronghorn? I only have the Cowboy outfit John starts with.

I'm gonna assume a wardrobe at any tailor or general store that sells clothes, but you might not be able to until after "Motherhood"

Hmmmm, I've completed Motherhood and the next two missions (I believe). At a tailor or general store, would I be able to pick which outfits I store on the horse? I saw the trapper had the previously crafted outfits.

Yes, the wardrobe functions the exact same as the one at camp.

I remember I changed John into a duster coat as soon as I was able to, while doing bounties with Sadie for sure

But there is no access to the clothing in Pronghorn (like there was in all the previous camps)?

ETA: The last mission I did was when Abigail left with Jack. It looks like I have to get a loan to buy a place called Beecher's Hope.

Arthur wasn't going to make it either way, but yeah - I think you made the wrong choice if you were playing as 'Good'Arthur!

The whole of Chapter 6 was really about Arthur trying to do some good with what little time he had left, and #1 amongst his goals was to help John, Abigail & Jack escape the life. So I think's it crazy for him to abandon John at the end to seek the treasure and vengeance!

I've always thought that only two of the four endings really make sense. In my head, Good Arthur would always help John, whereas Evil Arthur would go after the money

(but it's a video game, so I accept it's each to their own).

Anyways, on the general theme of this thread - my experience of the epilogue is that Part I is really best done back-to-back for the most part, because at that stage the game has taken away much of your freedom. But it opens back up again for Part II once you've purchased Beecher's Hope, and at that stage all your usual customization/clothing options/missions open back up again and you're free to roam once more.

So I ended up completing Part I of the epilogue in a couple of hours, and Part II took me about a hundred hours because I was finishing off all the side missions and free roaming like a nutter!

I think so too. I wish I could do it over, but if I play through a second time I definitely go with John. I makes more sense as you said.

Great post.

Arthur gave John his satchel. It's kinda silly, but it's assumed, that it contained all Arthur's items. John has been in possession of them for all the years of being away, but he didn't use those things until epilogue.

Some time later wardrobe will appear on Beecher's Hope, but until then, you can only change clothes at tailors/general stores or hotel rooms.

Question: I'm close to doing the Horseman 10 challenge. Do the horses I've previously broke count or do I have to start all over?

You need to broke them all again. The same goes with catching fishes and picking plants.

I have another question for you guys. I just finished the final mission and watched the credits roll. At the end, after Dutch shoots Micah he just walks away without saying a word. So I grabbed the gold and left the area. No clue where he went.

Without spoilers, are there more encounters with other gang members now that the missions are done? Charles and Sadie both left in the scenes shown during the credits and it showed Tilly married with a baby and Pearson running a store.

Was the ending it, or will more encounters happen?

I've ran into Mary Beth and Rains Fall already, I was just wondering if there others that show up (no spoilers please, just a yes or no). I accidentally read part of a spoiler mentioning Dutch. During the last mission, he just walks away without saying a word. I was wondering what became of him.

I don't need details. I plan to continue playing anyways and finishing up challenges and dinosaur bones...

Thanks again. At the end of the last mission, Dutch just walked away. I accidentally read a spoiler that said he goes off a cliff at some point. Was it possible to follow him after he walked away at the end of the last mission?  Or was that spoiler wrong?

It seems strange that him just walking away would be the last you see of him.

No spoilers please if possible

No, you can't follow him. But you can return to that hideout to collect something unique.

You have the chance to get Johns original hat somewhere in epilogue. It's the hat that John use in the 1890-era. If you make the hat fall out (by engaging in a fight or falling) you can pick it up and it will be saved to your inventory. To bad you can't make his original hair fall off, pick it up, and save it to the inventory..

But when do we have the chance to get that hat?
