DexMacLeod
The creative director's been doing some interviews recently. https://www.gameinformer.com/preview/2020/08/27/gotham-knights-creators-shed-light-on-whats-to-come https://www.ign.com/articles/batman-gotham-knights-co-op-combat-biggest-questions-answered My main takeaways are that it's not a "live service game" and leveling isn't "grindy". The enemy levels are sort of a way of scaling the difficulty as you progress. There's no day/night cycle but the game does take place over many nights. Going to the Belfry will trigger day time and when you leave it's the next night. Also sounds like the Belfry is where you go to switch characters. It sounds like there's a lot of different costumes for each character and that they'll be at least slightly customizable. They mentioned putting different cowls on Batgirl and that various accessories will be interchangeable. They've talked a lot about character arcs which makes me optimistic that the game's story is still going to be character driven. But they also mentioned that you could play the whole game as just one character so I'm not entirely sure how that's going to work. With the game being set in its own universe I wish they'd gone a little deeper with the character choices. Seems they had a perfect opportunity to introduce people like Cassandra Cain, or Stephanie Brown, or Duke Thomas. I'm a big fan of the four they chose, though so I can't complain too much. They also kinda, sorta hinted that we might get more characters in post-launch DLC.
DexMacLeod
Damn, the only game I've been excited about in quite awhile and they're gonna try and make me finally upgrade my console for it. This is no longer coming out for PS4 and Xbox One. Here's hoping I have enough microsoft rewards points to get a Series S by October. Or maybe Hogwarts Legacy will actually make it's release window this year and that will keep me busy while I wait for sales. https://news.yahoo.com/gotham-knights-ps4-xbox-one-no-support-151524186.html Ironically, watching the video below I actually thought it looked like a graphical downgrade from what we've seen before. I only made it about halfway through the video (ads every minute or two made it unwatchable) but I didn't really see anything "new" here. It's an Arkham style game with the bat-kids instead of Batman and a more in-depth gear/costume system. Not a fan of Jason Todd having super powers, though. I get that they wanted to give everybody a unique way to travel around the city but those "light disk things" don't fit in at all. It doesn't look like a particularly fun way to travel either. I can see why they cancelled the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights. I guess WB Montreal wanted to make this exclusive for next-gen console players, and that the old consoles couldn't handle it. Hopefully, they don't launch the game in a buggy state like with Batman: Arkham Origins almost a decade ago. If they have to delay it, fine by me. Gameplay wise, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Fingers crossed that the vehicles have better control than the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Yeah, I didn't really like Jason Todd having superpowers, either. Maybe there will be an in-universe explanation for this. I think we could get some story DLC for the game later on, like with the previous Arkhamverse games. Maybe there will be a standalone DLC expansion based on Batman Beyond, focusing on Terry McGinnis. Jason
I don't think it'll be as bad as it's open world and story based and doesn't have a sh*tty MP mode that was tacked on mid development, but this looks like another Avengers to me. It just looks generic as all hell. Tycek, deathdealer and Ivan1997GTA
Grichka Bogdanoff
This just looks sad, and I'm not even talking about the... absent UI design.
Jason
Yea that's what gave me the Avengers vibe. It's just completely unnecessary with what that game is trying to be. I doubt the skill tree in the game is anything exciting but Christ, just give us a load of costumes and a skill tree and be done with it. Tacked on loot is never good. deathdealer and Ivan1997GTA
Tycek
If this screenshot isn't WIP, then I guess this game may won "the most generic UI ever" award easily. Whole gameplay also doesn't seem very inspired, we basically got Batman, but with four characters with different abilities to choose from. Not to mention after Arkham series, this whole batfamily is getting a bit overused. Ivan1997GTA

Gameplay looks pretty cool, but stuff like the armor rarity and generic UI does make me a bit worried about Gotham Knights. They better not turn this into another Marvel's Avengers game. After this game, I think WB Games should probably take a break from the Caped Crusader for a while, and focus on making a game based on a different DC superhero, like Superman or Wonder Woman. It just doesn't look "next-gen" to me. That Batgirl and Robin gameplay they showed a year or two ago was better on every level. It almost felt like they're deliberately trying to lower expectations. 1 hour ago, Ivan1997GTA said: Yeah, I didn't really like Jason Todd having superpowers, either. Tycek
1 hour ago, Zello said: Not really. Maybe that just my feeling after recent WB games like Injustice 2 or Arkham Knight, which allowed You to do some side missions as Nightwing and had these DLC regarding Batgirl and Red Hood. And here we go again, with the same characters, which are imo terribly uninspired in terms of gameplay. We got Robin with a stick, Nightwing with two sticks, Batgirl with very likely some other stick and Red Hood who thankfully uses at least more original weapon - pistol. You know what would be lovely as a next Batman game if someone wanted to do co-op? Teen Titans! Based on the original tv-series, with its characteristic drawing (game could use cell-shading). Five totally different character to choose from, with totally different mechanics (from classic beat'em up as Robin, through cybernetics, morphing into animals, Tamaran skills to black magic). Game could even feature Terra (because why not?) and maybe even playable Slade? We would also receive Jump City instead of flogged to death Gotham, which would be nice change of scenery from rain soaked streets to more colourful metropolis. I'd get such game day one. Man can dream right? Ivan1997GTA and Zello 1

Those DLCs were short though. 1-2 Hours worth. Some have even been 30 minutes. 13 hours ago, Tycek said: And here we go again, with the same characters, which are imo terribly uninspired in terms of gameplay. They rarely give the Batfamily time to shine and mainly focus on Batman. I agree I'd love to see more of DC's library they've got a lot of good characters that I'd like to see give full length games but the Bat Family hasn't been overused. DexMacLeod
I'm not sure I've ever been more on the fence about a game before. A couple years ago it was my most anticipated game in a long while but the more I've seen, the more turned off I get. Pretty much any video with the main cast talking has been borderline unwatchable. Now IGN's got this video detailing the open world and I'm starting to come around again. This might be the first game I've played in a while where I just skip the cutscenes icecoldkilla1467

Creed Bratton
This game gives off The Avengers and Anthem vibes. Both games looked like absolute trash from the first video. And this one is no different. How have you not developed the skill by now to see when a game is going to be sh*t? Because this game is going to be sh*t. You will regret paying for it. Ryo256
Wait....they removed the ped NPCs and cars? That was like the only thing I was looking forward to..... Like that was what made it different from Arkham series, that you get a live Gotham City for once. Sigh, I guess it's back to Spiderman.
