Had some leftover Hamburger Helper Lasagna from yesterday, washed it down with some Cherry Coke, and had a slice of Vanilla Cake for dessert. Pretty good day dinnerwise.

No idea what I'm gonna have for lunch, but I do crave for some classic chicken soup. It's hot as hell here so I'm not up to something heavy, soup's gonna do nicely

Mi piace pasta all'arrabiata! I love Arrabiata. It's kind of one of  the only spicey Italian dishes you can get. And it's a crime that it has no onions 😛

You might want to try sugo all'amatriciana. The Roman versions of it usually comprise tomato, onions, chilli, rosemary, guanciale and pecorino romano. Though I tend to have to make it with pancetta as guanciale is nigh impossible to get.

Cheers for the recommendation. I shouldn't have read your post without eating my lunch. I'm starving, lol

You can't go wrong adding pancetta. If it's purely vegetarian, I'd do the same.

Guanciale is cured, air-dried pork cheek. It's kinda similar to pancetta but has a higher fat content and richer taste. It sort of "melts" in a way pancetta doesn't which is why it works so well in this dish.

Never heard of that before. I assumed it was a veg. Going to keep a look out for it. Sounds nice.

Roast chicken with parsley, roasted baby new potatoes, sweet and sour pickled cucumber, fennel rocket and asparagus salad, and a cream sauce.

I'm currently eating either a 59p or 75p frozen pepperoni pizza, can't remember which one I bought. Washing it down with some Nigerian coca cola bought from a Caribbean/African products shop.

I made myself an okonomiyaki, it's basically a savoury Japanese pancake, "as you like it".

Big fan of these. They've been in my regular rotation for a couple of years. What did you have it with? I rather like thin strips of pork belly or octopus if I can get it.

I tend to have mine with nice cuts of heavily seasoned chicken (I'm south asian, ofc it's heavily seasoned ), and a thickened sauce with onions, chillis, curry powder, and Worcestershire sauce (for the umami factor). Sometimes I put noodles in as well, but I tend not to anymore since I find it to be a bit too much. It's all topped off with a spread out fried egg and BBQ sauce and mayo with another dash of Worcestershire sauce (I'd love to get my hands on the Japanese mayo and okonomiyaki sauce, but I'll have to do with these substitutes, for now.). I've used the bonito flakes a few times, but they're not very easy to find here.

My favourite part is how every bite is a journey. I'm someone who takes ages in the kitchen, so it's really rewarding when it's time to eat. I can't finish the entire thing in one go, so as a student, it's helpful knowing that tonight's dinner and tomorrow's (most of it, anyway) food is sorted.

You can actually make both of them fairly easily. The biggest issue is with the Kewpie Mayo, getting powdered MSG. It's basically a fairly normal mayonnaise recipe but with apple cider vinegar instead of white wine, only using the egg yolk, and a little sugar. I use dashi powder or umami seasoning instead of MSG.

The okonomiyaki sauce is basically just Worcester sauce, tomato paste, oyster sauce and honey/sugar boiled down to the right consistency. I sometimes use kechap manis (Indonesian sweet soy made using palm sugar)  instead of normal sugar or honey.

I love Crucials' sauces, especially the spicy mayo, burger sauce, and Thai sweet chili versions.

the most prime crucial's sauce for things like chicken nuggets, chicken strips, chips etc has to be the spicy mayo and burger sauce.

@JON22@Arrows to Athens you guys need to try Asda mayonnaise it tastes so f*cking good! it has a pleasant aroma and its so phenomenally palatable! I subjectively think its even more superior than Hellmanns Mayonnaise.

I was never a fan of Hellmann's mayo. I find Heinz mayo to be superior. I will have to give Asda's mayo a try!

Heinz mayo is definitely better than Hellmann's. But neither is a patch on a proper French mayo or anything homemade.

I only buy mayonnaise if I can be bothered to make tuna mayonnaise with pasta and tinned corn, and it's normally dirt cheap mayonnaise from the newsagent.

Chicken and vegetable pie, chips, frozen veg warmed in the microwave all covered in gravy. Only time I've really eaten veg is if it's part of a microwave meal. I actually had an urge for veg so I bought some.

Mister Pink

I'm trying to eat a bit healthier. So, for lunch I'll have some hummus and some delicious bruschetta. I substitute the bread for rye crackers. I dice some Tesco finest tomatoes which are really delicious, season with salt and pepper to get rid of the acidic taste, dice some fresh garlic, add a little basil and oregano and top them off with some olive oil. It's a really simple and tasty treat. Relatively healthy. I'll eat them with some hard-boiled boiled eggs or tuna.

I need more healthy, delicious snacks. I don't want to ruin bruschetta for myself.

For breakfast before the gym I had some Shredded Wheat with warm milk and a teaspoon of fresh, organic honey. Delicious. I've all ready drank 1 litre of water and will attempt to drink another litre or two before the day is out. It's only my second trip to the gym after a 1 year absence and only my second day drinking proper amounts of water but all ready, I feel great. I feel more energized. And surprisingly, I'm only starting to feel hungry now. I had my breakfast at 07:30. Normally I'm quite hungry every 3.5 hours or 4 hours but now I'm at 4.5 hours and I'm OK.

@Mister Pink things like that in your post above I can't be arsed with because of washing up, and I lack sharp knives for cutting things like onions, and even though I'm 35 I've never had photo id so will probably be denied trying to buy a decent cutting knife even though I don't really plan to because I'm lazy.

I also get my fruit from mini strawberry trifles lol.
