Post 1.21 update PS4 method to play

Just in case it got swamped elsewhere I'm posting it here too.

 

There is a way in on PS4. Mark and I have just managed it. It might take you a few attempts but it worked eventually. It needs at least 2 of you. Someone loads in and start a story mission on call. This is where you might get an error. But after a few goes Mark managed to start one. The other player doesn't load into the game but waits for the invite to the story. Accept the invite and you load into it. The story lobby seems to be stable. We are off collecting now. Good luck.

I might hit up my friends list tonight, this could be a relatively easy work around.

 

I'm betting Legendary Animals won't spawn in story missions, but collecting and hunting is better than nothing.

Been playing for over an hour and the session is perfectly stable.

Can't you? I've been collecting and hunting. Lots of other stuff is working too. But if you know better then ok.

Hmm, might try something like a Moonshiner story mission solo and see what happens

Over on Reddit there are several workarounds, Play Red dead workarounds.

 

both have merits.

You can collect except the metal detector doesn't work. Can't fast travel either. This is when starting a legendary bounty mission before trying to do other things.

You obviously never tried. I was using the metal detector the whole time.

How would I know it didn't work if I didn't try? Just to make sure it wasn't a glitch, I left that mission and started a new one. Still didn't work. I'm on PC, not PS.

I played for 5 hours in a story mission both on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both night the metal detector worked perfectly. 

 

Here's a link to a video as proof. This was Wednesday night's game. At the end I even go into the catalogue as proof to show it's not an old video.
