I love it. Despite what everyone says, it's fun game. Beautiful graphics and environments, great music and that sense of space-ex is great as well. Having said that, I wasn't invested in the original trilogy. At the time, it came out, I was a much more casual gamer - just to give you context. Those more invested in the original trilogy might not share my views on Andromeda. As a standalone game, I'm glad I didn't listen to others and just gave it a go myself. Best combat in the series, worse in every other aspect compared to the trilogy, with a particularly poor PC port, the UI is actually terrible. Other than the UI my main criticism are the uninteresting open worlds (if you've played Dragon Age Inquisition, the game is structured like that). They feel lifeless and static and while the openess allows for a more open combat, which again is great, the mission design isn't terribly interesting. Also, the game doesn't feel like it has the world building the original trilogy has and misses a lot of the politics that really make the choices interesting. Plus, there's dumb stuff like how they played the whole exploring a brand new galaxy, for example, and this is my ultimate pet peeve with the game, it's a completely alien galaxy... and they all speak the Queen's English. It's not a bad game, but it's no where near a great one either, I'd say it's a 7.5/10 pretty much, definitely fun to be had, but far away from the trilogy in terms of quality. ME was a great experience, but it needs gameplay/quality of life improvements. The combat system, Mako driving, inventory managment should be overhauled if they want to do it justice. Niobium Posted November 27, 2020 Share Posted November 27, 2020 mass effect 1 was clunky as sh*t but it's the best game in the series, with its characters and worldbuilding mass effect 2 streamlined a lot of things and made combat a lot more fun, but the collectors were just bland villains mass effect 3 was such a mixed bag. it has both some of the most brilliant writing AND some of the most awful writing i have ever seen in the series. out of all the 3 games i am interested in, it is mass effect 1 the most. not just because it's the best game in the series, but because it will benefit the most from the upgrades due to it being the oldest. are they just going to do a simple remaster and add better graphics, or are they going to tweak the game for 2020 and make combat a lot more fluid? I would like to say that it's not a big deal, but then I see that Darrah has left too at the same time? Something is definitely going on in BioWare and it's not pretty. They are major members that are heavily involved not only within their projects but the studio entirely. Losing them at the exact same time is like getting shot in the foot. At least Patrick Weekes and a few others are still there for what it's worth. Keep in mind that I'm being optimistic. The likelihood is that if BioWare keep going in the same direction they have been since 2012, they're going to join Maxis and Visceral among the EA graveyard.
