PC or PS4: which version should I buy for single player experience?

I know this is Discussion forum for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 but I couldn't find any other place, not even a R* official forum, so sorry and here we go, feel free to bash me.

I usually keep consoles for exclusives only but RDR2 is on sale right now on PS Store and it's tempting me.

So, quality of life wise, which version is better? I don't play multiplayer so hackers on PC servers are not a problem to me.

My PC can handle the game just fine (no 4k, though). I don't care about graphics, I don't care about modders/hackers, I don't care about MP, all I care about is gameplay and quality of life improvements.

So, owners of both versions, do you recommend PC, PS4 or it doesn't really matter?

Edit: I own the normal, non-pro PS4 version

I'm sure you didn't mean it this way, but to be certain... there isn't a Pro PS4 version and a non-Pro version, that's more based on the console. Anyway, I'm sure you knew that and you meant the latter interpretation, so I'll just carry on...

I had this for PS4 for 14 months before I got the PC version for Christmas. I decided to restart, even though I had already invested maybe 200 hours into SP (and I wasn't close to finishing... I think I was still in Chapter 3, because I free-roamed everywhere and did a lot of side quests or just plain explored slowly). The benefits for me restarting are that I won't have to worry about some of the glitches that occurred the first time through, like the camp glitch and stuff. I also found the second serial piece clue on PC pretty fast, and never found it on the PS4 version... so I'm partly convinced that maybe that glitched out on me as well?

I'm all for these graphics, though. I have a pretty awesome PC build, and I'm playing with a PS4 controller and all that on an Ultrawide 1440p monitor, getting pretty close to 60 FPS while having pretty much everything on High or Ultra (no mods).

I don't know if that really answered anything for you so to speak, but despite all the time I put in the first go-around, I'm happy to restart to circumvent any glitches and get the gorgeous visual upgrade, keeping in mind I never finished the first time through either. But if you didn't glitch out, don't care about any visual upgrades, and you're going to use your PS4 controller regardless... then it might not actually matter.

I mentioned my PS4 version because apparently some games run better on pro version and, if that were the case, it'd be another reason to get RDR2 on PC.

Did you run into any issues on PC regarding R* Social Club? I remember I read some time ago people were facing trouble to sign in R* Social Club and couldn't play the game.

Up until the last update, I would have said to absolutely go for it on PC.  I've put a couple hundred hours in both story and RDO and did not have many problems.  I've got a beefy rig so I'm able to play on ultra/high mixed settings on 1440p and get 75fps on average, with dips in a few demanding places.  Really beautiful game on PC, for sure.  Since the July 28th update, however, a number of people are having a problem with the game "flickering" to the desktop, myself included.  How bad and how often seems to vary, and to be objective there are a lot of people who don't seem to have the issue at all.  But if you're one of the unlucky ones, it's pretty distracting.  R* seems to be having a problem finding a solution, although someone in the steam forums believes they've traced it to the Rockstar Launcher (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1174180/discussions/0/2785991651619424886/).  I'm sure they'll fix it at some point, but just a heads up.

Just so you know, your topic was moved from the PC section to the main RDR2 board so that more people will see it and hopefully join in the discussion

Thanks for the heads up, someone may have accidentally found a fix (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1174180/discussions/0/2785991651619424886/?ctp=14#c2789370076128470753)

Advantages for playstation as far as I can tell: everything drops there first like we have fossils available atm to the collectors role, no hackers. Other than that from what I could tell from playing PC the game was identical although I played over a year ago so if the graphics have been given a polish then probably that also on PC.

I've got RDR2 on PS4 Pro and on a rather beefy PC. It looks better and runs at a higher FPS on my PC, so not much point in playing on console anymore. There's nothing wrong with any of the console versions and your PC experience can vary greatly depending on your hardware specs. Long story short, it doesn't really matter, as long as you get to enjoy the game.

Id go for PC or. Xbox One x. Not PS4 or Pro.

PS4 Pro got fakes 4k and looks more blurry than xbox one x.

If you want it just for the SP, then I'd say PS4 1.00 is the way to go for now. In future, however PC might be preferable due to the possibility of mod fixes and such.

The only advantage of PC is the mods created for single player. If those don't matter either then it doesn't matter which you get.
