Tez2
Has anyone found two legendary animals within one hour? No other player presence or anything like that, cause it sounds to me like there's a one hour cooldown whenever you find a legendary animal, or actually let me rephrase that, it probably triggers at the moment the LA event spawns in. Some members here are saying it's 48-min cooldown, but I feel like it's a bit longer? Unless the event itself takes some time to appear on the map. I believe it's 48 minutes because i was able to hunt LA at the same time next day (like morning today and morning next day). I don't know about consoles but on pc you can skip this cooldown by exiting to the main menu or restarting the game. Changing sessions helps too cuz LA events take priority and i usually get them immediately if there is no cooldown. I was sampling and donating LA to Cripps these days. You can donate or sell medium LA even after sampling. And sampling doesn't decrease the value of a carcass. Found this great guide on english Discord: But some animals are bugged, for example Onyx Wolf. Although both guide and in-game shows 35 materials, it adds only about 10 to the bar. Most of them are fine tho. netnow66

On one or two occasions, if I go back through this thread and find my posts, I've found legendary animals on consecutive in game days, whether they were within 48 minutes of each other, I couldn't say 100%, as I haven't documented the exact times. I have a feeling that on one occasion I've found one legendary animal in the evening of one day and another in the morning or early afternoon of the next in game day. In my testing I'm convinced there's a 48 minute cooldown, if nothing else I tried hard to prove it WASN'T there, by heading fast to the Teka gator after I got the Cogi boar. Teka ? appeared at (as near as I could time it) 48 mins after I killed the Cogi and I'd been at the Teka spawn spot for 25 minutes. In testing there is a 72 RL hour cooldown on each species, eg you kill or sample an elk, you won't get another elk for 72 RL hours. Please see earlier pages of this thread for more in depth detail. Big TIme McGill
Only time I've found two within the hour is if another player was nearby and spawned it for me. Got the Owiza bear by the Dakota river a few minutes ago. He was just sitting there having a drink. Got about five rounds in him before he turned around and charged but even then he didn't seem to frighten my horse that much. Got him to sedate after about 10 shots although he took a long time to go to sleep. Sort of expected more of a fight out of him but I'll take what I can get! Same experience here with the 48 min cooldown, I'm as sure as I can be it's real (damnit, I really wish I could disprove the 48 min and 72 hour theories, but I can't). Owiza was the same for me, drinking at the river, 8 shots with Carcano and express ammo and it was toast, in fact it turned and ran at 5 hits. Same here (got it last night),you got that Owiza bear during clear weather and broad daylight? (In the LA description that bear most active at night and rainy) because of this i dont believe the description at all. Most LA i got didnt match the condition where the should spawned. After that Owiza bear i got hard time finding the Ridgeback around Hanging Dog Ranch at Big Valleys. Went as far as Owanjila Dam hoping that bear would spawn but i got Zizi beaver instead. Not that im complaining but its not as easy as Owiza. Got the same problem with Mud Runner (got it few days ago) and Cogi boar (this one i need to kill),i was in the spawn area at the right time and weather condition but nothing so far. Gonna try the ''change appearance" method later to see if its help. 3 minutes ago, CowboyTyke said: Same experience here with the 48 min cooldown, I'm as sure as I can be it's real (damnit, I really wish I could disprove the 48 min and 72 hour theories, but I can't). aaron2997
I got the Ridgeback, it spawned close to the W in West Elizabeth. I stood on a big rock that was close by and just unloaded my pump shotgun into its face. Big dude tanked at least 10 point blank shots before going down. It also had a regular grizzly friend hanging around which almost had me surrounded. Edit: it was night, clear. CowboyTyke
@DontGetClose1990 Day and clear weather for me too, around 1pm game time. Unless something freaky happens you will not find the Ridgeback until after the same time you got Owiza today on the 25th due to the bloody stupid 72 hour species (all bears being in the same species of course) cooldown. I've tried my hardest to disprove that stupid 72 hour cooldown and I can't. I'm pretty good at finding LA's and (apart from the Rams and the Bears where there's not been enough time) I've killed and sampled every LA repeatedly, after 72 hours I can find them pretty much without fail. I've been keeping a precise log for quite a few weeks, the timing is reliable. DontGetClose1990

It was around 9pm and the weather was completely clear. I find the time is more critical than the weather, and it's not an exact science. I finally got the Moon Beaver at around 3am in clear weather, even though the grid says it has to be 6am to 9am and in rain. I also got the Teca gator in clear weather even though the grid says storms.

At one point, I thought it has to do with the "increased chances" skill we gained, but a member of the community encountered an LA outside of the right timing & weather while he was yet to reach level 15, so the conditions just boost up your chances. I have most definitely had many LA's spawn at times of day and weather conditions that aren't what the in game guides state, to be honest I pretty much ignore those conditions as the 72 hour cooldown seems to be the critical thing. 35 minutes ago, DontGetClose1990 said: Big thanks for the insight, wont spend anymore time trying to find Ridgeback then. Your mileage may differ from mine as I have only the proof of my testing which is anecdotal and not the empirical evidence of seeing the code or datamining. That being said quite a number of people have reached the same conclusion that there is a 72 hour cooldown on you finding any one species of LA (all elks, all boars, all coyotes etc etc etc) so you won't find another Legendary bear within 72 hours of activating the last you found. I was on my way from Strawberry to Big Valley. Ran into the Zizi Beaver first. Killed it and brought the carcass to Cripps in the Great Plains. Rode back to Big Valley and found the Ridgeback Spirit legendary bear there. No other players in the lobby. If I checked the daily challenges, before riding out, I'd have an extra gold bar in my pockets too.

I keep a list of what spawns and their times and I get another one to spawn after 48 mins. (I keep Cripps going with Legendaries these days so that's why I keep a list so that I know where to go and when and not waste time) Sometimes rarely the cooldown doesn't kick in and you can get 2 closeby each other, but it's very rare for me. Yesterday though I spawned Maza cougar 12.00, Iguga at 12.50 and Bison 1.15pm My friend was idling in her camp in Great Plains quite near Iguga spawn, so I'm thinking it spawned for her and it didn't trigger the cooldown for me for my next spawn as I spawned the Bison so soon. I think at least one of the Panthers will come alongside the Halloween content. We've got 5 releases left if R* follow how they have released all Legendary Animals so far (with the exception of the Rams), 1 mission Bear, 2 free roam Moose, 1 mission Moose, 2 free roam Panthers and 1 mission Panther. That will take us to Tuesday 27th October. I'd guess we're going to be getting the Halloween content on either the 20th or 27th, so that would mean 1 or 2 of the above being released during the Halloween event. AdamNortonUK
From some data I've just came across looking for something else not even relating to the Naturalist Role, I've found the full release order for the Legendary Animals, and I've checked the list with the releases of the past Legendary Animals these seems to be the release order cycle of the remaining Legendary Animals: 29th September - Legendary Moose [Free Roam] 6th October - Legendary Bear [Sighting Mission] 13th October - Legendary Moose [Sighting] 20th October - Legendary Panthers [Free Roam] 20th / 27th October - Legendary Panther [Sighting] Should cover the next 5 weeks, it's possible we may get the Panthers all in one go on the 20th October due to the Halloween content being available from the 27th October, which is why I've put 20/27th for sighting mission for the 3rd Panther.
