GTA IV on Xbox Series X

Recommended Posts

TWIST_OF_HATE

So, GTA IV is currently available on Xbox One and Xbox One X with backwards compatibility

You can see how much IV benefits from power of newer consoles in this video comparison:

Unfortunately, resolution on newer consoles is still 720p

But very soon IV will available on Xbox Series X

So, what do you guys think about this ?
How much fps improvement you expecting ?

And do you think that they will finally bump resolution to atleast 1080p on Xbox Series X ?

Severely reduced loading times too, 6 seconds to start a new game, just over 6 seconds to switch back to the game from another game. If Rockstar could just patch the resolution side of it then it's basically a free remaster!

It's locked 60fps, still 720p though:

yes, I just saw this test by DF

I'm a little dissapointed

if it would be 4K/60 fps in IV - I would buy Series X instantly, no jokes

but with 720p, no, thank you

from what I know, resolution patch is done by backwards compatibility emulator itself, it has nothing to do with game devs

I will buy the Series X just for 60fps.

Got mine in the mail today, and it does indeed run GTA IV at a rock solid 60 FPS.

That settles it, the Series X will be my first bought Xbox (eventually).

Also, can you (or anyone who has it still) test the old GTA V 360 disc if you have it. I prefer the look of that one to the remaster/PC version.

It's basically caught up with a proper modern PC I'd say. If I tone down the settings to Xbox 360 equivalents (also using an AMD Zen2 CPU) I can also lock 60FPS and even more than that, so not too surprised to see this, but am glad to see it on a console finally.

I'm playing it now as I type this and let me tell you: it's absolutely amazing, it runs buttery smooth... I can't believe it. I am well impressed :)

I am jealous. Can’t wait to go through this diamond of a game for what must be the 100th time.

Btw, do you happen to have GTA V original 360 game disc? I was wondering how that performed because I prefer it to the remaster.

Last-gen GTA V is not backwards compatible on Xbox One/Series S/X, so your only option (until the re-remaster comes out next year) would be the current-gen version.

Ah, i’ll stick to the PS3 version for V then.  The re-remaster is just going to be the current gen version in 4k 60 anyway.

No I don't unfortunately. Do you think the original 360 disc would have an uncapped frame rate? I tried the digital version of the GTA V and unfortunately the game is capped at 30fps(as you probably know). But my god it loads so fast.

PS: Yeah, GTA IV runs like a beast, you will be amazed once you see it!

I could be wrong but I think it was capped at 30 on PS3 but not on 360 (much like the original release of IV). I’m currently replaying V right now on PS3, and it’s noticeably choppier but is way more fun than the remaster for several reasons.

But, another user told me the original 360 version isn’t backwards compatible like GTA IV is, so the digital version of V you played must be the imo inferior remastered one.

Anyway, I hope now that IV is running so well it will give the game a bit of a resurgence.

How is the pop-in on Series X?

Until yesterday the only IV I had was the original PS3 version, but I just got the 360 version in preparation for eventually getting a Series X. For now though i’m playing on a 360 slim and it’s sharper and the frame rate is much better than PS3, but goddamn the pop-in on 360 is way worse.

Pop up is a non issue on Series X, it also seems to have some kind of an auto HDR enabled or whatnot and it actually looks very nice indeed. You won't be disappointed trust me, I'm blown away
