Modder/Hacker Identifying

Recommended Posts

I've been playing a month and have been turned into a stick of dynamite and blown up, or teleported to a remote location and set on fire etc. Had legendary alligators spawn all around me and 2 totally naked NPCs attacking me (with all bodily appendages on display) but it only happens about once every two days.

Today they're being subtle. I had 2 Hillbillies spawn during a moonshine bootlegger mission that did nothing for a minute then suddenly attacked me.

Went back to the Moonshine Shack and there was another player on his horse right outside my door but he was 'blurred out' as if engaged in a mission then suddenly disappeared.

Nothing in recent players list but I'm sure it was 'him' fooling with me.

The question is: How can I indentify these modding players to report them or even identify players that kill me if I didn't catch their name during the 'some player' killed you with a 'some method' screen.

*Edit

I just saw the player again and took a picture. Then they rode off and were still 'blurred out' the whole time. Wth?

Blurred out players are usually in a "safe zone" and disappearing can be either them entering the shack or leaving the server. Players will also appear blurred out if you are in a "safe zone" no matter if they are also in it or not. Other safe zones include digging up a collectible, inside a store, and at the end of a mission when waiting to turn in whatever it is, among others.

When you get transported and blown up, or a message comes up in any hack that says "killed by", that is not the person that actually killed you. Modders have a way to make it appear someone else is doing it. Makes it impossible to report the actual modder. All you can do is change servers.

Rockstar has been extremely aggressive at catching hackers and banning them. Some new players will come on and try but they will get caught pretty soon without anyone reporting them. The first ban is for 30 days and some may try again even though they know they'll receive a permanent ban the second time but since they aren't interested in actually playing the game, I don't think they care about being banned. The modding problem is maybe 1% as bad as it was a few months ago.

I forgot to mention that while that player was blurred, I rode up to them. They took their gun out for a moment then holstered it when I idled back. A moment after that they rode off and I tailed them for 100 meters, all the while still blurred.

Is that normal too? Or mod invisibility gone wrong.

Since the update I got blown up for the first time. Someone really into cheating will likely be using a pirated key or they make sure to grief under the name of another play in the lobby. It is good thing Rock* are aggressive, but they need dedicated servers, which would make the present disconnection and griefer problems less of a concern.

Don't know. I haven't run into that.

I agree. Invite only or private servers would be good. I read a few places that private lobbies are in the programming and all they have to do is turn them on. However, all methods of creating private lobbies that people were using have been stopped by R* so it doesn't seem like anything but public lobbies are in the plans.

I used solo lobbies before they patched it, mainly for animal spawns.  Griefers are easily dispatched, but then the hackers became a problem.  Took a break until recently so I haven't been able to put a lot of time in, but it seems like spawns are improved.  An occasional hacker problem would still suck, but are they still everywhere or has it died down a lot?  Getting the itch to play online again.

Hackers are around but few and far between. I've been on at least 5 hours per day for the past 6 weeks, except the past 7 or 8 days, and I ran into 2 hackers during that time. That is a huge improvement. Before the mass bans began I couldn't go 30 minutes on any server without running into a hacker.

Animals spawns are definitely a LOT better.

Thanks, that's good news!  I went on last night for a while - two minutes in, hacker blew me up.  Switched servers, blown up again almost immediately.  Switched again and no problems for a couple of hours.  So it was just bad luck.  More important, plenty of animals!

I've been on 3 hours now. When idle looking at my map horse went nuts, a rust coloured gaseous cloud around me. Didn't kill him but 80%. A few minutes later when idle again got 'flicked' off my horse. Didn't kill me. Most of the attacks are not killing me these days, they prefer pissing you off slowly it seems. Just now teleported along with 5 or 6 other players to a remote location and killed. That ones annoying because apart from the disconnects I lose my pelts to that too. I might try rejoining as you mentioned and hope for a better lobby.

Life is full of these angry irresponsible anti social [email protected] unfortunately.

I still find it's unbelievable that we have to sit on our hands while this happens without the ability to identify them.

The time of day you play makes a difference. Most hackers are from Russia and China so if you go on when they are most likely to be on you may run into more modders.

Doesnt matter who anyone reports for teleporting all players to an area, than using someone elses name to kill everyone, them flying, etc..... Rockstar doesnt give a sh*t, More modders/hackers every single day, and they can and will now lock you out of your stable so you cant even whistle for a horse, etc....  Keep you from using a hunting or bounty wagon.   Bsaically hackers/modders are ruining the game like so many game before.  But just like other cases.  Rockstar only cares about money and not taking of its honest players who are trying to have fun playing what could be a great game.

I don't know how long you've been playing but the number of hackers/modders in the game now is nothing compared to what it was a few months ago. Saying Rockstar doesn't care is not true. You have no idea how long those people are going before being caught. With millions of players, there will always be that small percentage who screw things up but they are being caught. There is probably an uptick now because the first wave of 30 day bans has expired. They'll be caught again.

As I've said before, I've run into 2 hackers over the past 5-6 weeks. It used to be I was running into them within 30 minutes every day on every server, pretty much an unplayable game.

One tip is to check the player list frequently. As soon as you see a dark red player get out of that server. They are either a griefer, modder, or someone a modder is framing.

Pvp mode are unplayable on PC, at this rate soon dead. Run into 5 hackers in a hour this morning.
I've even had an ally hacker, insane short teleport and spawning moonshine poison cloud over ppl.
Reporting them in-game probably do nothing since most of them use different username and are long time player (lvl360+ seen today) and you cannot report for cheat in Social Club profile. And you cannot do a ticket to R* for that. :kekw:
And if it's not hackers, you just have afk team in most case.

I'm starting to wonder what is holding players from cheating nowaday.

hello I would like to warn you about the cheater nocheatskthxbai. this is a modder of the worst kind where the player trolls massively and crashes insulted and then followed from session to session. rockstar apparently doesn't care again because reporting has not brought anything in the last three months.

How do you know reporting doesn't work. We've gone from 1000s and 1000s of hackers to very few. Since they don't let you know they took action against someone you reported, you can't say they didn't do anything. People actually need to do something wrong before R* can take action.
