How would LAWMAN & OUTLAW roles work?

First let me say I know they are coming eventually, and I’ve fantasized about robbing in-game banks in free roam since launch and also playing as a lawmen.

after maxing out all the current RDO roles and seeing how they work, and comparing them to the businesses in GTAO, I wonder how these roles would work?

Would an OUTLAW role be similar to GTAO heists? or would it’s activities exist in free roam with all players in the same lobby?

what about a LAWMAN? We already have a bounty hunter role so what would a lawman do?

I'd like to see something a bit different from the usual same old same old. Not just going out and collecting ingredient A. Buying or going an a mission for ingredient B. Waiting a certain amount of time for product to be produced. Go out moving you product to a delivery point. That's pretty much every business in GTA and Red Dead.

What I think would work well for this role would be some PvP. Maybe throw a couple of posses together in a mission where one plays the outlaws and the other plays the lawmen. Not just going up against predictable NPCs but against other players. Now that would be a real challenge.  Maybe one posse has to rob the bank and the other posse has to stop them getting away with the loot.

You have to leverage the honor system IMO and the best way to do that is a prerequisite of having completed Tom Davies missions for lawman or Samson Finch missions for outlaw.

Lawmen should have offices in Blackwater where you can purchase exclusive themed role gear and Outlaws guild should be located in Thieves Landing where you can purchase exclusive themed role gear.

Davies remembers you for the good work you did with taking down Montez and saving his ass in Tumbleweed. He offers you a US Marshall's badge in exchange for a fee, when you wear that badge the game will recognize you as a lawman.  Several in-game stranger actives will open to you, stop a robbery (shops and banks), rescue a kidnapped victim, stop a jail break etc.

Finch remembers you for the good work you did helping him out in the bank job. He offers you membership into the outlaws guild which is represented by a bandanna in exchange for a fee. When you wear that bandanna the game will recognize you as an outlaw and open up several new in-game stranger activities for you. NPCs from the guild planning a robbery and need an extra man, rob a bank, kidnapping, break an outlaw out of jail etc.

The good thing about this, it won't just be you against NPC's, if you're robbing a store as an outlaw and a player lawman is around he can pursue you for a reward.

There should also be lawmen and outlaws themed PVP modes. A great idea I had was a bounty spin on capture the flag. The lawmen are tasked with capturing a player who is wanted dead or alive. He and his gang are walled up in a fort. Lawmen have to capture the player alive and escort him back to jail for the maximum reward. Outlaws have to fight off the lawmen till the timer expires. Then you have the reversal of this where the outlaws have to break the player out of jail and the lawmen have to fend them off.

I can see how the two roles essentially fit to be associated with each over, but I still think it would be better if each start off in a separate path.

Have the outlaw role be introduced with bank heists first, and later on, we see the introduction of several gangs with the lawman role. In a way, the latter adds more content to the outlaw role by having it engage or work with the newly introduced gangs, while the rest of players experience a brand-new role. Yet, it's more likely for them to pick the lawman role first, since it's more easier to make than bank heists. Regardless, I would like to go on a chase of an outlaw gang across the map, not similarly done like the Bounty Hunter, in that you hogtie and deliver back to a town, but more of a swift way, like shoot and move on. All of this would fit as a new role free roam event.

Anyway, back to the roles, new gangs or more gang activity in online is what may help shape up the basics of a lawman role, leaving it with enough space to expand on. While I would like to see a new change in the approach of designing such role, I would still prefer them to stick to the typical way of doing things up till the final ranks of the role, in which a set of activities are unlocked allowing you to track down player outlaws, thus giving a new meaning to the role.

Either way, I would love to see them embrace free roam even more, to the point it distracts you from other activities, but more like optional offers.

I would only like to see this as a role, so that those people would be doing their own thing and be removed from me.

They could finally do away with the "forced" pvp for people like myself, who don't want to bother with it.

For instance, the other day I'm just at Harriet in Lagras. I'm in Defensive mode, just got finished getting something from her.

Blam, someone shoots me from far away by St. Denis, instantly killing me ( a player, by the way.) I'm level 265, or something

nuts like that, with full health and I think even a health tonic on me.

I just got up and went elsewhere, since experience has taught me it isn't worth attempting a reprisal.

Then you might say something silly, like how in a "Lawmen and Outlaws" role thing I could post a bounty for them.

In my experience, that sort of thing never really works (having other "customers" act as the "police.") It would be easier

just to have it be called "Lawmen, Outlaws and Flower Pickers"; I'd proudly be called a flower picker ;)

I dont know how it couls work, but if we are opening and office it would have more sense to be a pinkerton than a deputy assistant.
