Moeror
When I heard that they were randomizing the collections of the more profitable ones I assumed they were just going to change the locations. I had 1 coin left I needed so I decided to go to every spot in today's cycle to get it. By the end of it I had gotten 2-3 different coins more than once and never gotten the last one. THEY LITERALLY RANDOMIZED IT! It's basically trying to find piss in the pouring rain and it basically makes them impossible to complete. They could of done a million different things than this that would of been a better idea than this. Why don't they just lower the amount of money we get for them instead of basically praying to the random gods we ever complete one? Lonely-Martin
I quite enjoy them being random, but that said, I don't look to fill full collections and just sell everything I found when I happen to pass the crazy lady, lol. As is being discussed in another thread about legendary animals, I can also understand the frustration too. There's a fine line between random/rare and predictable though so hopefully R* can strike a good balance going forward. It does seem like they have made it impossible to complete certain sets. You have to wonder what the point is in having sets you can't complete. It doesn't seem to be completely random what coin you get at each spot and there are still common ones that show up more than others. I have a feeling they messed up somewhere and it hasn't turned out as they expected it to. Moeror
Considering they're the ones who decide how much money you get from completing it why don't they just lower it?? Or remove a couple of the sets completely? This seems like overkill. Jaydawg47
Let me start off with how I get that having bad luck with RNGs is annoying, despite the fact that this is 50 percent of what defines a RNG. Having said that, for once (believe me, only once) I agree with Rockstars decision. You don’t seem to understand the idea behind the collector role; (bad) luck. You EXPLORE different areas to perhaps find something. This is why the word explore works, because you don’t know what may be there. That is why nobody explores the grocery store, but people go there to GET something they know is there. Now, because this is a game, developers have to “hide” the treasures themselves and for very obvious reasons this rotates in some way or shape because otherwise it would be like grocery shopping after the first time. No challenge, no good nor bad luck, no fun, just grocery shopping. Then here comes the average gamer that has somehow convinced him or herself that the goal of gaming is not to play the game, but merely to achieve some goal (mostly goals that lack any form of creativity, such as having enough money to buy everything there is to buy) within that game. Playing the game has merely become a way of achieving the goal. Because this goal has to be reached as fast as possible for whatever reason, gamers generally look for the most efficient ways of making money. For the collector role this results in people wanting to have all the locations pointed out to them. But not all locations, no, just the locations of the collectibles that give you the most money, because efficiency. It is Rockstars task however, to make sure the gameplay does keep some of its challenges, as these challenges actually define the game. For the collector role, the challenge is to collect, not to have. Not wanting to look for anything is like not wanting to hunt for the trader role. But I think most people will agree that getting everything handed to you would surpass the idea of any game. It are the rules of the game that define it. Lowering the pay for every collection would solve the above mentioned problem, but would also punish anyone who plays the role as was intended. Changing the availability of the items to total arbitrariness however, would in fact solve the problem, without punishing others. Because in theory and therefore in the long run also in practice, making it random would not hamper your chances of completing a set, it would only increase them. But only if you play the game/role as intended. Just to be clear, I have found myself to be the gamer I described above more than once. This is not to say you or anyone should play the game differently, it is just a reminder of how having these (useless) goals can actually ruin the game. Rockstar trying to avoid this by implementing gameplay changes while not ruining it for everyone through simply lowering prices for every collectible somehow convinces me that some people do know what they are doing there. UnexpectedParole
So before I read this and knew things were more randomized I had decided I was sick of being broke and went to the wagon and sold all but one of each item I had. It was only like $1500 but I needed it. And I do refuse to treat it like Grocery shopping for money. (Which is partly why I am always broke.) Now sounds like I did the right thing. I'll collect when I want to collect which is when playing with a certain friend or to complete a daily challenge. If that item fills a set, I will sell the set. That was a great feeling when I found that final pentacles card wandering around. If it does not fill the set, when I go visit the madam I will sell my duplicates. sweet Jaydawg47 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/959349-some-collections-actually-flipping-randomized/#findComment-1071299218 Share on other sites
Krommer
Though I used the page, I always thought it was odd that collector was the most easily lucrative due to non random spawns on cycles or whatever; I just still wasn't that into it so most of the $30k I have is from trader. It is even easier now, with trader. Before, I depended on longhorn when nothing else would spawn. Other people mentioned they thought it might be nerfed, but then we just all figured rockstar was never going to update the game again. It should not be impossible to complete collections, though. I hope they fix that. AStiffBreeze
I don’t mind the spawns being completely random, so long as the probabilities for each item within a set are identical.
