Epic Games won't recognise installation folder

So i've created another installation folder so i can mod safeley but Epic games won't recognise either of them now. When i launch it via the R* launcher it just says it timed out while trying to communicate with epic games. When i try to launch it via Epic dirrectly, it just says its not installed. Is this a common issue? How can i repair this and can anyone give me a propper guilde on how to do this
