Anyone else thought that the Survival Mode in GTA Online is underrated.

Survival is great. Create a Survival is awesome. 

 

I created a Survival and racked all the enemy stats up to maximum, and I can't do it. I cannot get to the end. The furthest I got was wave 9, and then the Hunter came in and obliterated me.

 

I'll be damned if I am going to adjust it and make it easier too lol.

 

The flexibility and depth of what you can do in the Survival Creator is, hopefully, a precursor to how good the Mission Creator might be if ever released.

It's not nearly enough in my opinion. I'm talking about the lack of interiors we can use, and the very very VERY limited enemy types you can choose to fight against. Where are all of the gangs? Where are the regular cops? Why can't we have enemies come at us on water vehicles?

 

Also the fact that with the newer survivals + custom made ones you stop receiving RP for kills after a bit is something I find dumb. I can imagine there being a limit to it EVENTUALLY, but for it to be halfway through wave 5? Why?

 

Other than that, this is one of my favorite game modes in the game.

Grade A classic PvE mode, reminiscent of story missions from any GTA beforehand that involve shootouts that involve the Player having to dig in and leave no one standing.

 

I've beat all the R* Created ones (completed Wave 10)... except one. I've no idea how you're supposed to beat Wave 10 on Zancudo without the box method. And Forest, I always assume the position on the cliff you need to go out of area to climb up then get back in. That way there's only 2 ways the enemies can come at you, but even then I had to cheese the tenth wave.

 

I've not had much free time to devote to the creator, but the 2 projects I created were one based on the Kingdom Come mission from GTA 3. Cliffford Mercenaries with the worst aim and minimal health but highest aggression, armed with homing launchers in the Diamond Casino parking lot. The other involved taking massive Stunt Grids, colouring them Purple and Blue to create a massive box just off the ground at LSIA with entry tunnels to let the AI spawn and get in, creating "The Cloud", in an attempt to make a Doomsday 2. That one works, but I still need to create 3 more entry tunnels, then build a map the AI can somehow navigate on top of that.

The new survivals are ass. I honestly don't believe you can reach 10 on Zancudo because it's so poorly done. Forest maybe, but that one is a bit of a stretch.

How are you supposed to deal with the AI on PC free aim? Not counting whenever they lag burst instantly kill you the moment you stick your head out (which i'm assuming is a P2P issue and won't ever be fixed) the AI seems to just lock onto you, which is something you can't do on free aim to them, whenever you are and whatever you are doing. I noticed tossing a grenade or causing similar explosion can stun them (sometimes, and sometimes gets completely canceled because you aimed at them) but in some situations is completely unfair, such as them shooting through four car windows across the field, shooting accurately while in a moving vehicle, shooting you across a bush or just giving you absolutely no reaction time (especially when its four or more NPCs) to even shoot back. Does rolling or getting into cover (not by pressing the cover button, just by standing behind something) even does anything? It just feels like this game was definitely not designed to be played with a mouse and keyboard.

Rolling doesn't do anything. Lots of people think it does, but this is an ai that can shoot off your finger tips whenever you blindfire. The ai is predicable, but if you're cornered and they start rushing, there's nothing you can do.

Can i assume you actually are used to controller? 😛

 

I have no issue killing npc's with m+kb in any mission or survival, cover does work and so does the combatroll, just learn to go straight for the head, you have a mouse, make use of that superior aim

 

What i've found out over time (and so have a lot of others) is "swipe to kill" with some automatic weapon is best for PVE, works to some extend on players/in PVP too but best on npc's, you just start shooting slightly next to their head and then while shooting move your cursor over their face to other side of their head, in this 'swipe' the game's lag compensation will 9 out of 10 times give you an easy instakill headshot.

It's great when you don't get stuck with a bunch of run and gun low levels who did within the first 60 seconds every. single. round.

 

 

Then they have the audacity to leave the mission around level 7 because you're slowly taking your time picking off enemies....ya know, taking too long.

I used to enjoy it but C* thought us getting on a roof was too op against npcs with attack helos

 

They really go out of their way to not allow us to play tactically

Rolling does something but only if you use it to quickly roll behind cover. Saved my life many times when the AI starts spray-firing.

 

As for using cover without being in cover, yes you can do that in 3rd person if if the cover is to the left of you, because then there's an angle at which you can fire at enemies while for them you are behind cover.

we take our time because we don't want to die.🤣

i can imagine that you can reach level 10 if you have good players in the session.

I completed Forest for the first time yesterday... but I had to combine both climbing the cliff on the north side of the arena and launching the drone in the Wave 10 prep phase just to finally beat it. The only other time I've got to Wave 10 is by taking cover by the rocks at the foot of said cliff towards the west end of the dirt road.

 

I've tried Zancudo numerous times. I find setting the weather to Thunder does help shift the crate a bit easier than Clear weather... but god damn, even with it perfectly placed, I still get rushed by auto-shotty enemies, and even sniped by the Barrage gunners, whilst only blind firing the Combat MG... I've seen people get to Wave 10 and beat it using the crate, but Jesus... that'll take an even more intense level of concentration than I've ever had to get to on any of the other maps.
