I hate leveling up in arena war and not seeing what I actually unlocked. There is no way to tell.

there is. go to arena, climb to the room with your trophies and you will find a laptop by the window. it can be accessed to view all unlocks you have made. or you can simply see them when modding cars or buying clothes...

I've been enjoying arena war with its 3x AP. The lobbies have been full through and through on PC. I'm hoping to unlock the taxi before the 3x AP is over.

I knew that but it doesnt tell you what your most recent unlock was.

Newly unlocked items get marked with a yellow star in that laptop. But you likely never actually saw it.

Wow I never noticed that menu before, definitely don't remember seeing it at launch.
