Fort Mercer is glitched for me

So I recently purchased the GOTY edition of red dead redemption original on ps3 (not the re release.)

 

Got to the end of the game and I am currently trying to get the us marshal outfit by clearing every hideout and... well every time I so much as go around fort Mercer to start it my horse starts to glitch the hell out and starts riding off into nothingness before the game pretty much crashes completely and I’m forced to turn off my ps3 ( it also beeps three times whenever this happens.) I remember being able to do it earlier in the game but now it is literally impossible. I tried uninstalling my game update and everything but nothing seems to work. Also tumbleweed won’t start either although it doesn’t glitch the hell out like fort Mercer does.

 

I apologize if this isn’t in the right forums but I am at least wanting to know if anyone else has ever encountered this before or something similar and if so is there a fix? I wouldn’t mind having to play through it again but would rather not... any input would be much appreciated. Thanks guys. Still a fantastic game
