I honestly cannot be f*cked with it while exp rates are what they are, or unless someone figures something out that I'm missing.

We should be getting exp for collecting samples at the very least. 50 exp per sample is horrendously slow. Forty samples, a few less with the Pass boosts, is going to take a good while to acquire with the hunt times, sample gathering times and sedation ammo runs. That's just to get enough exp for one level. That's 400 samples for 10 levels and 800 samples for 20, without the Pass boosts. Numbers like that aren't pretty in any game.

At the very least we should be getting 50 exp for taking the sample and 50 for handing it in, cutting down the total sample number to level up by half.

Unless I'm missing something, cause right now it feels incredibly slow to me.

how am I ever been able to give harriet the samples if I won't get to do that for a while if I kill too many animals. Reviver is like 5 dollars and the sample are only worth like 1.20 dollar

You don't need to revive animals (maybe only for daily challenges). Just sedate, collect sample and go to the next.

She starts talking to you again after like 15 minutes. You can't do anything in that time to progress the role if you need sedation ammo.

It's why I'm genuinely perplexed by the entire thing. It seems so poorly thought out that I can't help but think I'm missing something. I imagine sets will be reward a big exp boost, but we'll have to see how tedious those are to complete in the coming days, animal spawns in RNG don't give me a lot of hope BUT animal spawns are crazy good now so maybe it's not bad.

Haven't done any legendary hunts yet, but the poacher missions from Harriet get you around 120-140 xp. I assume they're like bootlegger missions where you have to wait before doing another one

Yea I just did a poacher mission, they can be done before level 5. 100-200 exp seems like the range for completing it.

I did the legendary elk mission now. 390 role xp for sedate him + 400ish role exp for sell the item to the girl.

So for trading in the completed set of Mountain & Grassland animals I got 1150 Naturalist XP and 140.00 $RDO.

Ok, so what kind of percentage boost are we talking about for single items Vs full sets?

I got 57 xp per sample traded in, the price ranged from 1-5 dollars depending on the animal. This is with the 15% boost from the pass though, so it's definitely less.

It also doesn't work like collector in that sense, you have to trade in each sample first before she will stamp your book, then you can turn in that "set" for the full reward.

So, if I follow someone around and kill all the animals they are sedating does that keep them from getting a sample?

Okay, so this is where the exp is I guess. Curious what's quicker though, a full set or the equivelant of 1150 exp in samples. With good routing one sets might be quicker, but farming rabbits and other small critters might be quicker tbh.

Just gotta grind to level 5 for the legendaries and work yer way around the map for the samples. Keeping ammo stocked up is going to be my main issue, lol.

Thanks.

Seems as though it's ridiculously grindy whichever way you look at it.

Found a legendary animal, really loud noise when you're near one, you can't miss it. No exp for sedating or killing it, more exp than usual for reviving it.

Do I have to choose between  Gus or harriet or I can do both?

Probably not the right thread to ask this but;

Part of the new role includes photographing animals, however these photos take up space in my social club camera roll (im on PS4) so now I have to go through and delete the  photos one by one which is taking a long time, any better way to do this? I logged into social club on PC but the photos aren't shown there

What is the point of making a photo of an animal while you only need to take a sample to stamp it, therefore sell it as a collection to Harriet?

Selling the legendary carcass to Gus rewards no exp, just more cash than usual for a carcass, $24 for the legendary ram in this case.

You can do both but Harriet will teargas you every now and then if you kill a lot of animals. The only downside to this is that you'll be locked out of her store for 15 mins or so.

I wonder how many legendary animal missions we have, since there are 42 legendary animals on that guide.

Its needed to 100% the new compendium she gives you, one of the challenges (kill, skin, sample etc) is for a photograph

How often can you repeat the missions?

about the legendary animals:

you start them at the woman? or are there free roam legendaries, too?

should I kill or sedate the animal? does it make a difference ?

At the current XP rate I have, 57 per sample (I don't remember if it gives xp for sedating and taking the samples?) it takes 35 to get the 2k required for each level. Pretty simple. Raccoons go down in 2 shots, plenty of small animals like that around. Seems the fastest way to me to level this role up.

I did Elk, Beaver and Cross Fox in a row. If you need to wait, it's about 5 or 10 min max.

Love these legendary animal missions!

Ah, fantastic, found a Moose to sample, started sedating it, then a random player came and griefed. Lovely.

These seem like the best exp then, just gotta get to level 5 I guess.

Yeah, you level up much faster. The missions have some unique weather changes, like sandstorms on new austin, strong blizzards on colter (like in story mode 1st mission)
