Yesterday at level 20 i encounted 2 legendaries, but that was a private lobby and had been searching for hours and hours before that and nothing. Well, 3 people were searching for hours and nothing. Then suddenly 1 friend (level 20) shortly before I saw mine saw one. Everyone else left and after that 1 did my 2 sightings. Earlier in that lobby I went by a spot, and boar didn't spawn. 2 minutes later while I was still nearby a posse member rank 10 naturalist spawned the boar. This was during a trader sell while we were all possied up and 3 of us in same area. Trader sells and other missions are known to boost animal spawns, eh? I think why we saw more legendaries as low levels was because servers were fresh from update so the legendaries spawned (like everytime after an update you get ambushes to spawn everywhere and then when servers get more tired/they have been triggered you get less and less) It's always the same thing with R* games, when you are looking for something, it doesn't spawn, but when you go about your business suddenly one appears. Within around 20-25 hours gameplay i have done the sedating mission two times, and the one where you protect the animals only one time. I felt off a small cliff and rolled into a rock slowly, then died the first minute in the Protecting animal event... I choose a mission about a legendary bighorn in Cholla Springs, then the location of the poachers is in Hennigan's Stead, and there are 2 caged bisons instead of a legendary animal. Hmm I'm not sure then. When you're in that menu screen there's the button on the right side to select a poacher mission so maybe you're hitting that instead of selecting one of the legendaries? Definitely not a bolt action or double barrel shotgun, thats for sure. The key was to let them charge and head shot them when they got close, but not that close that my horse spooked. The way you select them is quite weird. I’ll use PS4 buttons. When you see Harriet, you hold square to go into missions. At that point, you’ll see Legendary animal hunts listed on the left. You can select those with X (provided you’re above level 5 Naturalist. If you want to do a Poacher mission instead (you don’t BTW), then there’s a prompt on the right telling you to press square. I suspect you have the legendary animal hunt selected, but are pressing square (to start a poacher mission) instead of X to start the legendary.
