This role is good but not good enough to warrant 7 months of content drought. Another compat focused role paired with this would bang.

I have a bunch this update was supposed to be come out in May. Rockstar spilled their baked beans yesterday 🤣

9gGo371.jpg

Given the content it was hell obvius. the 2 -3 extra months may had been used in assuring its general performance, which was harder due to work from home. That will be the same reason of the long wait until december, because of course, they dont want to give content without a whole narrative and structure behind. I woulnt be surprised that these greedy bastards hold the long awaited m1999, and dutch and hosea outfits, until rdo heist  version dlc... max gain little effort.

Has anyone managed to get the Wilderness Camp to work?

Selected it in my wheel, let go of L1 to use it.. nothing.

EDIT: I should mention that I'm trying this up in the snowy mountains of Amberino. Nigh impossible.

yea the Wilderness camp. It costs 750 dollars i believe. I had a 40 or 50% discount. So i paid somewhat around 350 dollars. and for WHAT ? a f*cking FIRE. Thats it. i expected (like shown on the game pass) at least a bedroll, a chair and a lantern. below is the definition of camp "a place with temporary accommodations of huts, tents, or other structures, typically used by soldiers, refugees, prisoners, or travelers." HUGE WASTE OF MONEY. A f*cking fire - not that we dont have around 40 fires like that for free all over the map. Im so bloody pissed about that. Unfackingbeliavable

Huge flop if you ask me. It's like the collector role but with a ton more work with less reward, so it seems to me (I haven't spent the gold on it and won't). The only thing that seems worthwhile is the wilderness camp but you shouldn't have to shell out 25 gold and a ton of grind just to get that.

I think I've figured it out:

The update was animal spawns working; They just figured that JUST having animal spawns finally work would make players angrily say, "So why not have them working right away, instead of years later???"

So they figured they could not ONLY have animal spawns working (after such a content drought), so while they were doing that they had some "second stringers" throw together a quick role that made sense to go with animal spawns finally working.

Then it probably gave the art department something to do, making the spiffy cut scenes, while at home distancing.

Some of it seems rushed, probably to just get out animal spawns finally working, which I imagine will be fixed. I can't see them leaving the hunting wagon/bounty wagon broken so you can only select

them at the stable.

============

I'm up to role 7, once i figured out how the heck to play the role. This is what I found out:

1) Sedate the crud out of the animal, with varmint sedative rifle ammo, until you see the shot doing an obvious "red x" shot on the target.

Birds, even turkeys, always seem to just die. My guess is it only works on animals in the compendium she gives you/whatever scrapbook.

Maybe some other birds work, I've not looked in the scrapbook enough to notice.

2) Get a sample.

3) Revive it, for 13 xp (every bit helps.)

4) Turn in the samples to Harriet, for 50 xp each, when you have a bunch. I often select Harriet on the map, then just get a sample of everything on the way.

5) Photographs ONLY count with the Advanced Camera; they also don't count AFTER you've sedated the animal, whether it has fallen yet or not. BUT, it DOES

count AFTER you revive it (sometimes easier to photograph then, since still slower (especially if a cougar, who would otherwise attack you.) ) DON'T bother

deleting photos for room; you get credit whether you have the room or not (though you'll always get the screen saying you don't have room>) It is irritating to

delete them, on the Xbox, so I don't bother.

6) Do poacher every time you can, at Harriet. This starts at level 5 and is not immediately obvious, since you have to select mission and  while she is talking

"poacher" (hit "x" (on xbox) ) is still grayed out.

7) Do Legendary when you can, but some are irritating and not worth the time. The boar and beaver were easy but the elk one, way up north, escaped me because

the terrain was difficult. I don't think I'd try that one again while trying to level up.

😎 Best thing about the Legendary/Poacher ones, I'm always in a single player lobby (just me!)

I'm liking the clothes, so far. I've got the Madam Nazar items I could, as well as the six gold coat from Gus (the only thing NOT requiring animal parts.)

I'm waiting until level 20 to start wholesale murdering animals again, for the materials for the other clothing items (as well as credit in the scrapbook.)

For a LONG time the only "fix": I've wanted, more than content, was just animal spawns working with 16 plus players in a lobby. So I'm basically happy

to play again ;) I got THAT, with some content.

Not sure, if already common knowledge, but you get 50 role XP for "studying" the animals (L1) before taking any action.

If you dont do that, you wont get these 50 role XP, they are lost.

You're far from figuring it out...

1) All small creatures and birds are still killed by the Varmint Rifle regardless of the Ammo type

3) Don't Revive it if you're only after the XP. It's a waste of money for very little XP

4) Don't turn in every Sample when you have a bunch. You can only have one Stamp at a time. Turning in a full setof Stamps gives $ and 1,000 XP. That 1,000 XP is how you make fast progression.

5) Photographs and fully studying an animal hasn't given any XP. Currently the only reward appears to be a Belt Buckle for completing the Challenge

6) Poacher is unlocked from the get go. Legendary Hunt Missions unlock at Rank 5.

7) The Legendary Hunt Missions are varied.

The Legendary Hunt Missions don't put you into a Solo Fre Roam. You're in a mission, with a mission boundaries, closed stores, etc.

You can also kill animals. Harriet goes by animals killed within a period of time. Even if she gets upset, you can collect more Samples, and she'll be happy again when you return.

I'm currently Rank 13 and have 7 Categories turned in. (The Habitat Categories all apear to give the same amount of XP, bht different amounts of $ wuth Farmland being the lowest at $60)  That's 7,000 XP, or 3 Role Ranks.(Or 9,100 XP and 4cRNks with the 30% Outlaw Pass bonus) The bulk of my Role XP has been:

- Stamp Collections

- Legendary Hunts

- Free Roam Poacher Missions

- Turning in Stamps

- Studying

- Reviving

Edit:

Oh  and everyone can collect a Sample and Sedative rounds count regardless of who sh*t them. Two or more players can split the amount of rounds needed to sedate the animal and everyone van collect a Sample regardless of if they helped to sedate it.

This is a very co-op friendly role... Unless you're hunting.

I'm ok with this update. While it's far from "massive", I'm glad they sorted animal spawns, gave us legendary animals that help the existing trader role and finally got mercy kill which is a big relief to have as a hunter.

Yeah. Noticed that when she sprayed me after doing some hunting. And yes, it is a bit more fun when you can start the legendary stuff.

However what is it with long hair now being tucked inside your clothing. That really takes away the whole meaning with getting the long hair styles.

And the improved bow. It has the exact stats as my regular bow, except that the accuracy is slightly worse. Not really improved then....

It takes less stamina to fire I guess

why the accuracy is worse is because you don't have familiarity with the improved bow yet

It's not really too much of an improved bow, the biggest difference is just being customizable. R* coulda done more to make the improved bow feel actually IMPROVED

I dont see how you can "improve" one of the most OP weapons in the game. It does more damage than the Elephant gun.

A full set of stamps is:

or

B - All animals in a category where I’ve taken a sample of all of them?

Which is it? Didn’t catch all of it yet.

Neither. The closestwould be B.

When you sell Harriet a Sample, you get a Stamp on the Animal's entry in the Animal Field Guide. Once you have all Stamps in a Category, you can turn them in.  For example:

Farmland Habitats:

Stamped 0 of 11

Categories Traded 0

- Collect a Florida Cracker Cow Sample

- Sell the Florida Cracker Cow Sample to Harriet

Farmland Habitats

Stamped 1 of 11

Categories Traded 0

- Collect the Stamps for the remaining 10 Farmland Habitats animals by selling their Samples to Harriet

Farmland Habitats

Stamped 11 of 11

Categories Traded 0

- Open the Animal Field Guide, and an option to turn in Farmland Habitats will now appear

Farmland Habitats

Stamped 0 of 11

Categories Traded 1

- Exit Animal Field Guide

- $60 and 1,000 XP notifications will appear

Nothing else in the Animal Field Guide matters when it comes to Stamps.

- Turn in Sample -> Get Stamp

- Collect all Stamps in a Category -> Trade in Category -> Get $ and XP

The real $ and XP from the Naturalist Role comes from trading in a completed category.

Got sprayed by her yesterday at Lagras and woke up on the other side of the river, opposite of her tent. The loopy lass was locked for me then. I switched lobby immediately and she was all fine and dandy with me again. So long with the lockout and anger of this woman.

While trying to sedate a white tail deer, which I shot twice and then chased on horseback, I accidently trampled the animal with my horse, twice. After the second trample, the animal dropped down sedated and I was able to get a sample and some lousy XP.

Just like in the collector role, full sets.

Whoah, never noticed it saying that in the compendium. I should read ;)

5: Really? I kept trying and never got credit. Then I read you need the advanced, from some poster, then it worked when I bought that.

I did not even get credit for photographing my horse, for the daily, with the regular camera either; bought the advanced, credit for the horse

then too.

Well after playing the new dlc for some time, and believe me I gave it a chance to become interesting, I have to say I am disappointed with it. A dlc that is half hunter and half collector after 7 and half of months of nothing is truly weak. I thought RDR online was meant to be about outlaws not a glorified hunter simulator. Please anyone else can you relate to me or is it just me.

It is lack luster even thinking of contacting support and ask them to take the compendium back! I don´t care of i lose 25 dollars on it I just want it gone!
