I have been doing poacher missions and am now rank 3. Shot a charging horse and she won't offer me anymore poacher missions. Been nearly 4 hours now.

I watched a guy stream last night, he did a distant sale and had 6 waves of them, so I'm assuming it's going to be much more common.

 

I suspect the reasoning is so that it's more of a challenge, and you won't be likely to loot the bodies.

edit: you have to sell them to Gus first. Then You can buy the items.

Just so everyone knows, you can sell Gus anything you could sell a butcher.

 

I sold a legendary fox pelt to him and got a little over $14.

You can also donate them at your camp, there I would have gotten a little over $15 for the same pelt.

Oof I just went searching, sedated a beaver, took a sample and then realised I had no reviver left. Ended up killing it. Felt so guilty :( 

 

Anyone know if there a time limit for them before they die, or could I have taken it somewhere and then revived it after stocking up?

They wake up on their own if left, you just don't get the XP for reviving them.

 

I got attacked by a pack of 4 wolves yesterday and took samples in the wrong order, the first wolf I sedated came round and attacked me again.

Should I be selling samples now or waiting until I have whole collection? Not sure what the stamps are?

I've no idea how it works lol.

 

I must have spent as much time watching streams and videos as I have playing and I'm no wiser.

 

I'm selling the samples as I get them, I "hunt" until I'm out of ammo, go to Harriet, sell/restock and repeat.

You can't interact with it other than revive or kill, so no taking it anywhere.

I'd have assumed that they'd wake from a sedative rather than die if not revived but I stayed with a sedated rabbit for 10 minutes or so with no sign of recovery. I went out of range, came back and like everything else it was gone.

Just tell yourself that they come around after a while and all's good in the world.

[Edit] It appears they do come around, just not too quickly.

I do miss the trapper from SP but I agree with everyone else, Harriet and Gus are both very well done and very detailed. I noticed last night for the first I that Gus has a lot of scars on his arms from his previous hunts and sometimes he'll mention hunting animals in Africa. These characters had a lot of thought put into them for sure.

The newswire mentioned more items becoming available at the trapper in the dripfeed sleeping I guess we'll have to wait and see

What I'm most interested in, are the lost jewelry we need for trinkets. I was told the item map is temporarily useless for them, and Madam Nazar's jewelry maps haven't turned up any of the jewelry needed for trinkets.

Think the best would be to Max the role with harriet, then work for big hoss later. 
 

I find the role more interesting at level 5 with this safari missions, first it looked dark but once u rank up to lvl 5 it is easier to get more xp and same time more fun with this safari missions. Looking forward to see new legendary animal safari missions added each week, and hopfully more

 

Yeah. Noticed that when she sprayed me after doing some hunting. And yes, it is a bit more fun when you can start the legendary stuff.

 

However what is it with long hair now being tucked inside your clothing. That really takes away the whole meaning with getting the long hair styles.

 

And the improved bow. It has the exact stats as my regular bow, except that the accuracy is slightly worse. Not really improved then....

Has anyone created a thread for a legendary animal database? Might be a good idea so we can keep track of animals and locations. I have no idea where to start to find legendary animals 😅

From my limited experience last night and what I've seen online they are in the areas marked on the legendary animal map we get given, it's just down to RNG whether they spawn.

 

The legendary beaver I got literally spawned in behind me as I was shooting a regular beaver at Owanjila.

items are just mixed up, spots are the same. gotta do the whole run ;)

Every animal was were I would have looked for it pre-update, except the cougar spawns seem to be slightly altered, and they don't seem to be sleeping anymore.

i'm already level 10 it's easy when you hit level 5 and start doing legendary animal missions

It does look awesome, but I was referring to the "made-to-order saddle bag" that the new trapper will make. It's only $200ish to purchase and I have more than enough but was just curious what the Softcoat Saddlebag looked like before since it doesn't show you.

You can find her somewhere on the map and talk to her.  When you aren't researching animals you can take on poacher missions from her. Kind of like the bootlegger missions from Maggie.

 

Rank 5 wil unlock the legendary animal missions.

 

I mean.... we do need heists and the expansion of an outlaw play style for this game.... in a very bad way. Property ownership also should be introduced soon. It's been over a year, I know they said they wanted people to really feel like they have put in time as a low-end grinder before introducing higher end stuff, but it needs to start moving in that direction.

 

But if I put aside the fact that I want that stuff -- this update is not bad by itself. I'm having fun.

You have to sell each of the blood samples, after you've done that you'll see a stamp next to that animal in the compendium. Once you've got all of them stamped you can trade the entire compendium for 1000 role xp and the payout it says when looking at the compendium (you can only trade it from the the naturalist guide from the Item selection wheel). I can confirm you just have to stamp the blood sample from each animal; no need to take photos or skin them

 

You can also do Anti-Poacher missions for her and after lvl 5 you unlock legendary animal missions (nets around 700 role xp and 50$, they are quite long though). Anti-Poacher missions net around 250 role xp and are quite short.

 

Legendary animal spawns are triggered after roaming around the area they are marked on in your Legendary Animal Map that you can access from the Satchel (go to Satchel > Documents and it should be there). As far as I'm concerned Legendary animals also have spawn cooldowns if you kill one instead of just getting a blood sample. A blood sample from a legendary animal nets around 250 role xp. 

 

I'll confim my suspitions tomorrow after I finish my next compendium. Maybe some generous soul from the Americas will help me out here before I get up lol. If anyone knows that I'm wrong on something please just correct me.

Is there a way to get large XP (~1000) by doing the Gus side?

For some , the answer is a solid yes.

 

For me it's okay; I will find things, that can be added to my style of playing. And that's good - this game is a sandbox (imagination can take you far). That is why, I continue to play.

 

The Naturalist outfits, were "a fart at the dinner table".

Imo, yes. It's a great idea that has been poorly implemented.

 

The lack of a tutorial, miserly XP rewards and general grindy nature of the Role never really gave it a chance.

They need better writers. A strong narrative, can take you far. Red Dead, is rich in lore and familiar characters; why shy away from that?

No, it's different. People supposedly wanted a more laid back, less PEW PEW PEW RDO that can be Solo'ed and this is what we got. People wanted an Update that can't be rushed off within a few days by normal people and this is it.
