Actually a new location would also be Liberty City, y'all are taking this too literally. I would imagine either Yankton or Liberty City as the easier routes. However, as R* moves into its post-HD phase perhaps they'll be beta testing "GTA World" with an entirely small but new location.

Remember - R* hires numerous photographers, experts familiar with a real life location, architects, and more to properly develop a new city. That's a very expensive investment if it's only for GTA V. Thus, unless they're seeding GTA 6, a restricted Liberty City or North Yankton (or even a remastered Vice City) are far far more likely. 

Now watch as you all wish list unlikely stuff.

Entirely new location doesn't necessarly mean that there will be a map expansion, my guess is that we'll have something similar to the Diamond Casino. Some location in the map will be changed or rebuilt from scratch and that's where the heist would take place. I believe more in a new interior than a complete map expansion or something like that, at least not before PS5/XSX GTA V/Online era.

I'd say if they were going the map route they'd seed gta 6 as the ps5 is around the corner and promotion of gta 6 won't be long after that imo.

 

 

@Sexualizer It maybe a bit of both. A restricted setting as a backdrop and a few interiors that could fit the current game, but not totally reveal everything.

Agreed. At the most there might be a new island or two appear around the mainland. But something more predictable would be a restricted bunker underneath Zancudo or something (for the obligatory Alien DLC tie-in). 

 

I don't reckon we'll see separate maps without splitting lobbies between Southern San Andreas and the new location, lest the outgoing consoles / lower-end-PCs explode in their efforts to run the game.

Might have been already mentionned by someone else before, but what do you guys think about Rockford Plaza being some kind of a new hub for players? I know its not an entirely new location like R* mentionned but maybe that would work for a future update? I mean it's a pretty big building, with diverse entrances, a parking lot, etc. We now know that Vincent works there and that SecuroServ provides some security services to the mall. It is also said that the we can find the most expensive clothing and jewelry there (just like the Beverly Center IRL). So that might just work as a heist update or something.

That would work for me and you could even perhaps run a business front out of the Rockford Plaza, maybe the comic book store I hinted at in next DLC thread some days back?

I agree,it probably means some place we haven't had a heist take place in before,such as Fort Zancudo or the LS airport or something.Doubt we'll see a map expansion on this console generation if we haven't already.

 

As for the content,I'm honestly more interested in vehicle, weapons and similar stuff than the heist (unless they'll let us hire NPC crew instead of other players,I'll probably never even play it).

The only thing I don't really like is how they highlighted how they're going after Modders, Cheaters and Hackers. If they specified Cheaters and Hackers then WHY mention Modders? They used to support the modding community in the past before GTAO but sadly I think they're doing another wave of sending out Private Investigators and we could start to hear about more Cease and Desists soon enough.

I would really like to see that but you can bet when we do the old missions that take place there it's back to not being built again...

£125m in the bank, think it will be a quality of life update for the summer by the looks of things. 
 

The winter update will be the bridge between consoles for sure. 
 

am I wrong in thinking the first set of heists led to the PS4 version? 
 

I genuinely believed updates weren’t dead 2 years ago how wrong was I? 
 

I definitely think this leads us into another island / at least North Yankton which already has game assets.

I think this will be a fast and furious style heist with all sort of upgradable vehicles and the “entirely new location” is going to be a map update, but no additional location, instead an existing location would be remade/updated to suit for the purpose

When I re-read it and see that 'biggest update ever' I really can't help but hope we garage that makes the office showroom look like a warm up, lol.

 

Of course, extra MC clubhouse and hangar spaces naturally too.

I think they use the term 'modders' because most people are aware that it means people creating or using external menus (personally I call the latter 'script kiddies', but that might just be me) to modify the game in their favour. I don't imagine Rockstar would start going after game modification teams (for single player, or in a FiveM environment)… but then again, they have in the past. But if it doesn't affect Online, they might let it slide. 

 

In any case it's marginally redundant to use all three terms as people who are modders are cheaters that hack. Usually. 

But cheaters does extend somewhat to use of glitches too, so all those folks out there who are looping Bogdan or that have garages full of Arena War Issis might have to look over their shoulders a bit more. Or at least that's what Rockstar want them to think - their anti-cheat has been flawed for the last seven years, and unless they've spent all of their lockdown time writing something new, it'll remain flawed. Or it'll be circumvented within 2-3 days of the next DLC release, as always. 

Back on topic: (happy thoughts...) 

 

For the smaller Summer DLC, I'm expecting the OWR creator / some more official OW races, the remainder of the Gerald missions, and maybe Ron missions too, a few drip-fed vehicles and clothing items... and a sneaky backend script that starts placing props for the new heist area (in a similar way to the Casino opening).

I wouldn’t mind Northern San Andreas added.

 

We have Southern San Andreas.

 

North would be Las Venturas, San Fierro and small towns in between.

Casino Heist was a nice step forward from strictly FOLLOW THE YELLOW LINE TO THE LSPD SHOOTOUT. 

 

Less hand holding and more emergent gameplay is always better. Rockstar's stuck in 2007 when it comes to mission design, not necessary if you are the story and not Michael/Trevor/Franklin.

Northern San Andreas could make sense. You get a ticket from LS airport and fly their through a loading screen.

 

On PS5 the “expanded” definition could mean that Northern San Andreas is above the original map. It’s separated by ocean but you can fly there.

 

Imagine you start V on PS5 and the map is all greyed out. You fly north from LS, over mount Chillad and keep going, a city faintly appears in the distance.
