Personally I think Cholla Springs is maybe a bit odd to have a Trapper location, but will wait and see what its like.

I'm sure we'll have the same trapper spots as in single player (Roanoke Ridge, Saint Denis, outside of Strawberry) since they're still on the map in online, with the addition of one in Cholla Springs

well.. i usually have a very soft spot for rockstar so..

 

 

 

i guess this update was meant for march/april but got pushed due to this virus meanwhile fixes, features and content were being added to it.. if there is only one role its fine, i just hope it has a poetic and fancy theme for it..  natural but expensive.. i love nature too much but i don't like to live in the mud.

idk why but i was really hoping for some heist or story-missions co-op for rdo.. i hope they add more coop missions in the upcoming extensions for the previous roles.. something like several prep missions + final mission to catch a legendary bounty..

i feel that tuesday we will have another talk though..

I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt, I genuinely would. I've been a fan of the games and R* as a company for almost my entire adult life. But I just don't feel like R* deserve the benefit of the doubt right now.

 

They have to earn that trust and good grace back, from me at least, and today's announcement isn't at a level that does that for me. The size and scope of what's coming on Tuesday, from the very limited amount they have said (which is a separate issue, they needed to go all out, spill the beans) it just doesn't seem big enough to carry the game for another few months. We'll find out soon enough, I could be wrong, I'll be happy to be wrong, but I have a gut feeling that I won't be too far wide of the mark.

 

That's just my personal opinion. I've never been here to try and change or shape the opinions of others. I'm glad there are more positive voices and more measured voices on the forums, it would be a sh*tshow if there was too heavy of a swing in any particular direction.

I still can't and I feel these updates are pushed due to the backlash and sh*tstorm they've been getting all over the internet. They'll never be more transparent and it feels like they stall updates for unknown reasons, til almost all the fans rip them a virtual new one. They'll never learn nor change their communication towards the player base. I bet that a lot of complainers will pull in their turd and will be all over social media about how freaking cool the new updates are. It's just sirup Rockstar pours over their logo, so the lickers get a sweet taste from it again.

Sorry, but I can't give them any slack yet.

Moonshiners felt like it was rushed out because nothing was actually ready and it was Christmas so something had to be released.

 

This feels similar. R* must know one role after 7 months isn't really enough, but they're getting rinsed online, gaming news outlets started picking it up, it's a bad look, regardless of the perceived "doesn't give a sh*t" persona, it looks bad. So they've buckled and put out what they have, which seems to be recycled content from SP.

The naturalist role could lean more towards the speculated photographer role, instead of towards a trapper-legendary hunter kind of thing (even if some trapper related feature is included). Taking shots of the nature and the landscapes would be a feature in the new role, not THE main focus of it.

They mightve combined photographer and naturalist into one massive role

I think it's great that you and others look on the bright side, genuinely. I'm the opposite side of the coin, my username is literally a family joke at my expense because my life is great but I'm melancholic.

Seven months for one new role. That's not so good. Even more troubling is the update after this one also sounds like it's one role. I hope the role is only part of a lot of new stuff in the update because if we've gone from Frontier Pursuits which added three new roles to every update just adding one it's not inspiring confidence about RDO's long term future. RDO really, really needs something meaty to really reignite the game, one Role after seven months of nothing is is some decent kindling but it's not the spark.

Yeah I just hope "massive" doesnt mean they're adding a billion showdown modes that no one will play on PC after the first week.

 

One role and an augment a couple months from now isn't going to cut it for the drought we've had.

Cheers for pointing that out. For some reason I could have sworn it was the 19th. I must have mixed up the dates with something else being announced or released at that time. You are probably right. Guess we can hope for a trailer on Tuesday.

Hopefully they add those competitive game modes with those bags like in Red Dead Redemption multiplayer. Definitely a fan favorite too.

 

Infiltration and theft. Each team has a base and a bag. Steal the other team's bag and bring it to your base. In larger areas, strategic use of horses and ballistic weapons placements will keep opponents on their toes.

 

One bag, one chest, two teams. Stake your ground, and defend the chest until a bag appears. Once it arrives, grab it and take it to your base to score.

We've been where you are now and I wish I could have the same enthousiasme I had in a lot of my old posts. And when we started complaining about the game here, we did it because we loved it and hoped it would be fixed. That, sadly, changed into complaining because of discontent, for me at least. 

 

No communication and a lack of attention to their player base, the ones to whom a part of Rockstar's money belonged to before, shows no appreciation towards those who helped getting their games to where they are now.

Kinda. Red Dead Redemption’s version was way better. I’m surprised people still play that back in RDR1. Lobbies are always full. I rarely see full lobbies for Plunder in Red Dead Online. Shame really, it’s a fun mode.

 

Actually, you are correct. I forgot Plunder had similarities. Haven’t played that mode in a while.

I'm hoping the new role is something I can get into this time - Moonshiners was a bit of a bust in that regard, and we've not got enough info (unless I've missed a leak somwhere) to know whether or not I can fit this in with how I play my character.

 

If it's more 'explorer' stuff, where you track and catalogue (photograph?) animals (like a vintage David Attenborough), then sign me the f*** up - but if you're more of a hunter or fur trader, where it's just more 'hunt this and sell it' like Trader stuff, then that's a big nope. Likewise something like big game/trophy hunter - I'm actually kinda glad that things like collector sets make decent money, because that meant I could stop having to go round shooting every living thing just to sell it. So I'm even less jazzed about the prospect of killing stuff to shove the head on someone's wall, or to tick off 100% role completion - YMMV, but definitely not my cup of tea. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I could well be wrong, but after Fun speculated that the Trapper is coming to online and the photo of a moose being hunted in the Newswire post I'm guessing that we're going to get something along the lines of hunting legendary animals, whether for profit, clothing or likely both.

 

That way R* can recycle the Trapper clothing from SP. *I can't wait for the bright pink legendary bison hoods /s*
