KGBeast Posted July 24, 2020 Share Posted July 24, 2020 So I've been doing a bunch of archival work on Rockstar's old sites since they relied heavily on flash content at one point in time and that's all going away at the end of the year. I've found some fun things here and there. Take a look at the first line of source code for the III site. Used to be such a fun company. Shame what's happened to them. The site intro isn't there, among other things. Which we had a separate thread about a while back. I'm making versions of the sites as they are/were for myself that are as complete as possible. These html versions are really good but they aren't complete or definitive by any means. I might spend some time with the shockwave decompiler later and rip some of the audio files and other stuff from back then along with the little video clips you can't download anymore and make a pack of semi-lost content so people can see it all easily. I'd say GTA 3 is the least similar version, but all my other recreations are basically 1:1, or as close as HTML, CSS and JS let me. I really like your work, not trying to put it down or anything. You can still find most of the missing stuff on web archive. But this is what it's supposed to look like. Two screens, a link to a video, an ad for the restaurant, Toni's beta render, and an audio file. They disabled the radio previews when they lost the rights to the music and in the process broke the initiators for all this stuff in main.swf, but the content is still present in the baby .swf files (the restaurant is industrial3.swf for instance). And it can all be extracted. I just pulled beta Toni from industrial3.swf as an example. I noticed the Luigi sound clip was there, and the Head Radio preview, but not much else. When I started this project my skills weren't as good as now, so I had to compromise on a few things I've been correcting over time, but I'm always open to suggestions.
