IAmSex4life
Tho the GTA game series is one of one the biggest if not the biggest gaming series out there, is the hype for ''GTA NEXT'' Dead or Alive?
Bob Loblaw_
I might change my opinion once R* announces the game in 5 years or so, but with everything that happened or has been happening on Rockstar ever since GTA Online release, my hype or excitement for the game is non-existent. Guest
I think it's still alive though some of the fan base may be growing apathetic. You'd think if by the next couple of years we don't get any info we'll have more disillusioned fans and some may move on since it'll be almost 10 years of V/online without any other GTA but then, and this might sound lazy, it's GTA so whenever the next game is teased the hype train will start all over again. As of now think the hype is still alive though things have slowed down here at least after the preacher stuff was a no show Personally I don't care even if it is never released (though it will be preferable if it is ofc) since I still enjoy and am content with the older GTAs
Jabalous
It's as alive as ever. It's just taking a nap for a while, but it's closer than two years ago to waking up! Patrizio, MaccerKuntPaul and Merquis
Evil empire
I'd rather say the GTA's have become a milking-cow product Rockstar intends to use until worn-out instead of innovating.
KingAJ032304
As proven with GTA V being free with epic games with sales breaking the store, I'll say it's very much alive.

Extreme Hunt
It's hard to stay, but most of their effort is put on GTA online. It's also unknown if development is taking place on GTA 6 at all.

KGBeast
It's over. Everyone who made it what it was is gone. Any future games bearing the name Grand Theft Auto will be a pale imitation of what came before. Lancerator

Doesn’t mean they can have any other talented writers, designers, etc. Some who can update the formula for the better even. Something tells me that we will see the first GTA VI trailer after Christmas 2021, when they make their sales from remastered. StraightouttaNewport
Doubt it'll ever die, its way too popular. Look at Half Life people thought that franchise was dead for years and then suddenly out of nowhere Alyx got announced.
Patrizio
Its not dead, but I feel VI will almost be the last big one. Most of the original group will be firmly gone by then. Most of the original fanbase will be married with families, mortgages etc and will fade away, sadly. KingAJ032304

This (like Half-Life, Assassins Creed, etc) GTA is a franchise that wont ever die. The comparison is extra good because HL3 and GTA6 are equally elusive, but both are most definitely being worked on. (And before anybody goes 'HL3 meme' on me, shut up and look up the end & after-credits of HL:Alyx, warning, spoilers)
Ryo256
I think it sorta has reached the point where the new game will have to actually make an effort to convince us to buy it. You know how many jumped right into GTA V (like myself) just by hearing its name....yeah I don't think that hype is here anymore. The fanbase is more....skeptical now of Rockstar games. GTA VI has to be really good to revive the hype and if it succeeds in doing that, I can see the community becoming alive again.

Goldn-Bayse
Tbh, I can't really be hyped about the next GTA until I see something concrete. I don't want to jump to conclusions and say stuff like "The franchise is dead!" Has Rockstar put way more of their energy into GTAO? Yes. Have their priorities changed? Also yes. Can I determine what they'll do with the next GTA accurately? Not in the slightest. Until GTA 6 is announced and subsequently released, I'm reserving my judgment on whether I'm done with the series or not. The only thing I can really speculate on is that I think the next GTA will be quite different. Perhaps the mission structure will undergo some changes, with more emphasis put on player freedom, or perhaps Rockstar will continue having missions feature set pieces. Maybe they'll cut back on the satire or dial it up even further. It's really up in the air. Ryo256

Schwartzxz
right now Im not excited mostly because I dont know anything about the game and I dont expect to get a trailer or any kind of teaser this or even next year. but when something does come out I will lose my sh*t. like everybody else. even those people who tell you that they wont get excited because they dont care anymore. they will. Glovenfun21
franchise has been dead since 2013 if you ask me, gta v was such a total letdown it soured my opinions on the series for along time, gta online was collectively the worst thing to come out of the series to date and the cancerous fanbase of it is the reason it just won't die because of them rockstar still sees money in gta online and will continue to milk the cow until the next big thing comes along, i wouldn't be surprised if the next gta takes a more online focus this time around or straight up abandon the single player aspects.
