Getting out/off vehicle in race creator? (PS4)

I was looking at making my own GFRED races but testing has been an issue since I can't get off the bike and swim. If I place track pieces to finish the testing, as soon as I remove them after I have to test the race again and I'm stuck. Yes, I have the race set to GTA as default, but I must be missing something.

 

My only option at the moment is to place track pieces leading WAY off course off the island in the wrong direction to get to land and the checkpoints to complete the test and publish the race. There has to be another method though and no amount of Google-Fu is giving me any answers.

The original Gfred was made when there was a glitch in the creator (on all consoles & PC), meaning that the maker didn't have to complete a test race to verify it. 

 

You made the race, adding all checkpoints / props etc. as well as the usual titles, descriptions and stuff. Then you saved it without testing. Then reloaded it. And at that point you'd be able to create / upload the race without having to test it. 

 

I don't know if that glitch still exists (I haven't made a 'fred race for 2-3 years!) - if you can't "save, reload, upload" any more, then you can only make the track-piece route like you've described to get from the bike / swim island to the mainland.

Another option would be to create it first as a transform race, transforming to a parachute should allow you to go on foot whilst in the creator, but it doesn't help in testing the final race.
